I bought this dutch oven for making bread: the generous width means that I can easily place my dough without the risk of searing myself and the depth allows for an unimpeded oven rise. This alone made me very happy. But what has made me ecstatic is this pot's performance beyond my baking adventures. Soups, stews, casseroles and roasts: this pot ensures the most amazingly even heat distribution and the enamel means that nothing sticks. And because nothing sticks, cleaning it is easy. The hardest part is lifting this beast into the sink.It is everything I didn't know I needed and I wish I had made the investment sooner.

I love cooking in this pot so much. It's no surprise that Le Creuset is so loved by so many. It cooks like a dream and makes "font" so well, unlike any other pans I've ever used. It elevates all my cooking. But the number one reason I bought this item from C&B was another experience I had with them: I bought mugs many years ago. I love them but 2 had broken handles. I came to the website to see if they still had them and saw that other people had complained of the same issue. I added by review and within a day, a customer service representative had contacted me and had send me 2 replacement cups, even though it had been several years since I'd bought my mugs. I vowed then and there to buy my next Le Creuset from C&B because their service is top-notch.

After longing for a Dutch Oven for over 20 years, I finally got this 5.5 qt. size by Le Creuset, the brand that always seemed to be the most preferred in places like America's Test Kitchen etc. Ouch on the price, but it is so worth it and I wish I'd bought one 20 years ago. If you're not set on a particular color, you can find sales fairly often and spend a lot less than I did at full price. You have to preheat the pan, but it doesn't take all that long, and then you must keep the temperature on medium to medium low. The pan retains heat so much better than even my Al-Clad stainless pans, and by keeping heat low you don't get burning. The light color interior worried me at first, but it cleans up like brand new every time. All you need to do is be sure the pan is ... The light color interior worried me at first, but it cleans up like brand new every time. All you need to do is be sure the pan is cool, then soak it full of water for 10 to 15 minutes. At that point, whatever was in it (including tomatoes) washes right out without scrubbing and leaving no stains. It's quite amazing, actually. I use this pan as much as I can, and I absolutely love it. The color choices are wonderful and fun. I have three different items now, all different shades of blue. The 5.5 qt. size is useful for almost everything I want to cook, and I can make double chili or soup recipes and the like in it and have half left over for a second meal. If I had it to do over, I might possibly consider the slightly larger 6.5 qt. size, but for the most part, I'm totally happy with 5.5 qts and I really haven't needed larger. This size is lighter and easier to handle than anything larger, and easy to clean/rinse in my sink without worry of dropping it. I love this pan so much I later bought a smaller 3.75 qt. version to hold whatever is left over from my first preparation, after half of what I made is eaten. The small size is useful to reheat the food I made in the larger pot, or to cook many other things, and I like having them both and find that I use them pretty equally. If I could only afford one, it would be the 5.5 qt. size. Beyond fabulous, and I'd give this Dutch Oven 10 stars if I could.

Since my retirement, I have been immensely enjoying being able to spend time in my kitchen. Having been married for 54 years, my original cookware was wearing out so I decided to purchase a “Dutch Oven”. The reason was their versatility and sturdiness. After much research, I settled on the Le Creuset brand, known for its quality, sturdiness and come with a life time guarantee. It came in a range of beautiful colours. It has not disappointed! The succulent casseroles and dishes that are coming from it are delicious and tender. Baking bread in it was a huge success! It has become a mouth-watering asset to my kitchen.
I bought this pot in February. I used it for braising a few times and found the liquid escaped rapidly. After careful inspection the pot has four lobes in the lid, probably from the casing process. However, one of these is more pronounced than the others making the lid not fit correctly. When I try to boil water, steam escapes in this area rapidly to the point it seems like the lid is set at an angle. I filed a warranty claim and was told the issue is not covered by warranty, so now I have a very expensive pot that is basically useless for any task requiring a lid when cooking. I would not ever recommend buying a product from the company. I hear Staub makes some high quality Dutch ovens and may even be willing to stand behind their products when they are not made ... After years of having a friend encourage me to get a LeCreuset Dutch oven, I finally decided to go for it. I like to cook and experiment with all sorts styles, and we rarely eat out (a handful of times a year usually for a special social reason). This pan has been a fantastic addition. I have had regular seasoned cast iron pans I’ve used for years, but have only had one other enameled pan which was an inexpensive used pan given to me. I never liked it as everything stuck and stained. I haven’t had any staining or burning on with this LeCreuset and it has been easy to clean. With enameled cast iron you do not preheat the pan. That’s a change from my other cast iron pans, but has worked well. If you’re one who likes to cook, this is a worthy investment. I am hoping to ... I have wanted a Le Creuset dutch oven for years. Crate & Barrel recently had a fantastic sale and now was the time to get one in my favorite color, Chambray. I have used it to make soup and absolutely loved cooking with it. It was also beautiful setting on the dining room table to serve out of. With the lid on, it kept the soup hot for second servings. Clean up was a breeze - I hand washed it in hot sudsy water with a soft cloth and it washed good as new. I'm looking forward to using this piece for years to come. If you have been waiting to purchase this dutch oven, you will not be disappointed. It's an heirloom piece and comes in so many gorgeous colors.
I debated about size, and finally chose the 5.5 quart one. I think it's perfect for me in preparing recipes thatmake enough for 4 or 5 people. I wouldn't want larger. Usually I'm cooking for just two of us, and I can getenough made for two separate meals, if not three. The weight isn't that heavy, it's easy to handle, pick up,and clean. When you cook with these Le Creuset dutch ovens, you have to modify your use of high heat. I havea gas stove, and I keep the flame at medium to medium low, and many things once heated get turned down toa low simmer. The pan cleans up like new every time. If you let it cool, then fill with water to soak for 5 minutes, whatever is on the pan will come off with no effort at all. I hand wash, then dry the pan. I'm not planning ... With this kind of careful but not difficult care, the pan will continue to look beautifuland like new. I bought my pan in the beautiful dark teal color, which seems to now be discontinued. I alreadyhad a bunch of wood and silicone cooking utensils, and I don't plan to use metal except perhaps a soup ladle, which wouldn't scratch the pan anyway. The ceramic interior is very strong, but I don't want to risk scratches. This pan and this size is highly recommended as it's big enough but a manageable size and weight.
I splurged on buying this pot for a gift for my son and was excited to find it on sale at Macy's. Unfortunately, when the pot arrived it was broken in several spots. The original box was also torn apart which made it seem like it was a returned/abused item before it was even added haphazardly to the shipping box without any packaging around it to protect it. To make this worse, when I called Macy's to ask them to send a replacement they said it was out of stock. I looked at their website while on the phone with them and they appeared to have tons of them in stock. The customer service person said they couldn't provide a replacement from the other stock because it had a different web ID#. SERIOUSLY?! I'm a working mom of two. I love my kids and cook every day to feed them well. I also appreciate the cozy house and esthetic kitchen. I decided to splurge money into 5 le creuset cookware pieces (small and big saucepans, dutch oven, pan and the braiser). It's very expensive however I decided that it will add aesthetics (color Chalot mmm, dreamy) also it will add variation of cooking techniques and also will serve me decades and finally will serve my daughter when she'll be the mom. I believed the quality promised by La Creuset and their lifetime warranty. And you know what- it's total SCAM! My beautiful chalot color pan got cracked very soon as I started to use it (EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!!!) and customer service just refused to fix or exchange it!!!! Their LIFETIME ... They will just blame you, that it's your fault. and today I noticed the crack on my Dutch oven. I already know there is no use to ask customer service for help. Also regarding esthetics- it's VERY difficult to keep these pieces interior and exterior clean, I have their brushes and cleaner, but it takes A LOT of time to clean them up to the degree you can not hide them in the closet but actually decorate your interior. So don't waste your money. It does not worth it AT ALL
