Stylecraft Special Dk 100g - Acrylic Double Knitting & Crochet Yarn

The only thing I’d say is that this wool is a lot more turquoise than the pics suggest! Wasn’t suitable for the project I had in mind, but I’ve kept it for another project and ordered a different colour which was perfect. I’ll keep this one for a turtleback sweater for my mother in law. The experience of shopping though was wonderful. Have used this shop for several items and never been let down.

Wow, these are tiny wrapped delights. I am not good with colour and often ordering what I think is a good match online turns out disappointing because the colour isn't what I thought. These pegs of wrapped yarn are amazing, I have put together a wonderful colour palette for a new project and they are beautifully packaged in a plastic box, so neat and the pegs are beautifully wrapped in the yarn. I am absolutely thrilled with it. They arrived in good time considering it was made to order. Thank you.

A nice yarn that doesnt cost too much.

Lovely yarn to knit or crochet with. Comes in wide variety of colours. Washes well (always follow the washing instructions). Have knitted with this yarn many times over the years and never been disappointed with it. Would recommend to others who want a nice yarn that doesnt cost too much. Thank you.

Lovely colour. Quality not brilliant, 1 out of 3 balls wasn't usable. The wool was rough and fuzzy in quite a few places, too bad to use. (I have had Stylecraft before and been satisfied. )SMD knitting replaced the ball without question, a very good service. Thank you.

Ah Stylecraft Special DK - I always spend a long time looking for good quality affordable yarn. So many choices. And if I look for a particular colour in greater quantity I always end up with Stylecraft Special. Good quality acrylic, nicely soft, even for baby projects, with great stitch definition. And the colour choice! To be honest I usually ask my husband to choose for me, because I can't make any reasonable decision with so many gorgeous, saturated colours. I usually go for strong juicy shades, but this time I'm working with brownish Walnut and it's simply stunning. It's going to be a very sophisticated vintage looking sweater.

Review of Stylecraft Special Aran

I have used this yarn previously to make a blanket measuring 40" x 55" in varying stripes of white/grey and varying shades of green, that worked out well but I didn't have a pattern for that. More recently I downloaded a pattern "Friends Forever Bunny Blanket" and I am using Stylecraft Special Aran, there are written instructions and a graph (because there are two Bunnies sitting in the middle of the blanket in 2 different colors) I started off with the written inst. but the print is very small and the lines are very close together and I was getting serious eye strain, so I have had to combine the instructions with the graph as best I could. I have just got to do the border now and I don't need a pattern for that so that's good, but the yarn itself has been very good.

Review of Stylecraft Special Aran with Wool

Service from Lovecrafts is great but what has happened to Stylecraft yarn! This review is for grey not white. Stylecraft has been my go to yarn for years but quite honestly it’s gone down the pan! The thickness varies throughout the ball and between colours of the same weight! These particular balls ( I purchased x2 in grey) were dreadful! The wind was inconsistent and contained fluff from other colours spun into it along with what looked like wood chips and shavings. I purchased another ball (charcoal) from another company which was twice as thick and really course so my Grey yarn wasn’t a one off. I think I’m going to look for a different ‘go to’ yarn for future products which is a shame. I’m wondering if it’s because it’s now made in Turkey?

Review of Stylecraft Special DK

I knit a lot of the Sarah Keen Wild Animals and Farm Animals. Over the past few years I have knitted well over 180 of them for various school fetes and various friends children. Actually, even adults love them too. The Monkey (Wild Animals book) has been used to help calm young children who find sleeping difficult and are having a hard time settling into school life. Each animal has a personality of its own. Sarah's patterns are easy to follow and knit up well using Stylecraft Special double knit. I use Trimits 100% hi-loft polyester filling. The toys wash up well on a wool wash and dry well away from direct heat.

This brand and model used

This brand and model used to be wonderful. Recently however, I notice that the quality has deteriorated considerably. The yarn is inconsistent in thickness and even varies between different dye lots of the same colour. Sometimes, when it has been worked, it produces a very rough fabric, not the soft fabric I am used to from this yarn. I am currently looking for an alternative lower end dk acrylic yarn, as this has become too inconsistent now.
