I can’t bake without my Microplane zester. My husband misplaced mine and I was frantic until I remembered how quickly Microplane ships. I ordered this one and had it within a few days. As usual the handle is very comfortable and the blade is great. I like the addition of the little rubber feet, very stable when grating onto a piece of wax paper. Thank you, Microplane!

I have seen the Microplane used in cooking videos and recipe books for years but always thought they were a bit expensive for a grater especially when I already have a box grater in the kitchen. A few months ago I saw an inexpensive knock off version so thought Id try it out, on my first use grating some cheese I found it really tough to actually move the cheese across the blade and had to use a lot of force, so much that the cheese actually jolted and I ended up grating my thumb. It was really nasty, so I was apprehensive about spending a fair bit more on the real deal and ending up with a utensil I felt unsafe using.I have to say my experience with the Microplane has been the total opposite. I have tested it with both soft and hard cheeses, garlic, ginger and lemons and each glide across the blade with minimal effort. The blade doesnt actually feel super sharp to the touch but grates very easy so this is a credit to the unique design of the Microplane which is what really sets it apart from others. It also feels very sturdy when youre grating so youre not trying to balance the weight of the cheese with the handling of the grater, which makes it even more safe to use. Cleaning is also very easy, just wipe downwards along the blade rinse under warm water and it will be clean. It really is the Gold Standard and is worth spending a little extra on, even if only to save you grating your thumb

I tried out my very attractive zester today, grating two types of cheeses and later, lime zest. Cheese floated out like clouds, soft and fluffy. Easy to clean after.Lime zest also worked beautifully, though it was a challenge removing the zest from the interior of the tool. Looked on the website for clues for a more efficient and complete removal but found nothing. So that’s a work in progress. Overall I’m very satisfied. Love that it is made in America and assembled by our neighbor, Mexico.

I read an article in Good Housekeeping saying that the person adores this so much they take it on holiday with them and seriously - I could not agree more. Utterly invaluable, incredibly easy to use, feels comfortable in the hand. For chocolate and hard cheese it is fab, but citrus zest in particular - looking back at the battles in the past with old graters, trying to get enough zest from lemons and limes without getting huge lumps of pith - this really is a technological marvel. Not cheap but worth every penny!
This is a handy tool to have in the kitchen. It's great for zesting citrus but can be used for cheese, ginger and many other food items. I'm a minimalist in the kitchen so this gadget is a keeper! It goes in the dishwasher, has a plastic protective cover, doesn't take up much space and does a fine job at grating. It is definitely a finer result due to the size of the holes, but it's sharp and effective!
Compact grater - slips into cutlery drawer and has a sturdy plastic grater cover.Easy to use!Super easy to clean!Expensive for a grater but I have a friend who uses one daily to prep Parmesan for her kids pasta and swears by it so I bought one and it's a cool tool for the kitchen making light work and perfect grated cheese.I have yet to lemon zest but will find a reason to do so now that I have this well designed grater !
Growing up and throughout my entire adult life, I've always owned crumby zesters. You know the ones. You've used them. The ones that simultaneously cut into the pith if you push too hard and don't zest at all if you don't press hard enough. They gunk up and you end up with hardly any usable zest from your citrus. I've always heard of Microplanes being the best solution, but I figured why spend the money when I already have something that kind of works? Boy oh boy was I wrong. I finally decided to splurge on one a few weeks before Thanksgiving to help me prep dinner. I started zesting some oranges and thought it wasn't doing anything because the movement felt so smooth. Then I looked at my orange. And then my cutting board. I've never seen such perfect zest before. ... MoreGrowing up and throughout my entire adult life, I've always owned crumby zesters. Then I looked at my orange. And then my cutting board. I've never seen such perfect zest before. I'd always wondered how professional chefs managed to do it and now I know. It made zesting a breeze and I had so much more from a single orange than I ever had using my old zester. Then I decided to try grating my parmigiano reggiano with it. WOW! Such beautifully perfect flakes of parm! This thing is great. I can't believe I've never owned one before.

Premium classic series has that long lean body that everyone recognizes easily as Microplane design, stainless steel blade and plasticrubber body. Gourmet series looks sleek and offers ample grating and shaving surface, softtouch handles, plus non slip rubber ends. Home Series The body and handle is made of plastic only the paddle is metal, the quality of the blades is always the same but overall the item looks less profession and more for normal home cooking. Elite Series includes a transparent cover that doubles as a grating catch feature and measuring cup. When positioned underneath the grater, the dualpurpose covermeasuring cup allows chefs and home cooks to conveniently zest citrus and grate a wide range of ingredients with more control and precision. All series come with small rubber feet in order to give more control preventing accidental slips while grating, they also protect the surfaces and bowls. In my opinion the purchase should be based always on what you expect want from the item youre buying.Sturdiness 1. I’ve been going to buy a decent zester for quite a while. Decided on this one from Lakeland and I’m so pleased that I did - it’s an excellent new addition to my kitchenware. I love cooking but find zesting citrus fruits a little tedious and now, with my new Microplane, it gets the job done in half the time. I thought £24.99 was a bit expensive but it is well made and sturdy and actually worth the money. If you’re looking for a zester - THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!
Not very sharp. the unit itself is super light, so you cant put too much pressure on it. or it will bend. fibrous items like ginger gets stuck very easily and slides off, so it does not shred very well. it does ok with citrus zest. will try with aged cheese next. overall disappointed with the product.
