Yamaha Stage Custom Bop Drum Kit - Natural Wood

This is the best drums I ever had. I got these drums to reduce room in the musician area at my church and wanted something that was going to be more impactful to the service. I had to change the stock heads that came with it to Evans head. When I added my Evans heads to the kit, it took it to the next level. I have to admit I was skeptical of the smaller bass drum, but once I added the EMAD head to it, let me tell you. It took me by surprise sounding powerful. I really like the sound of this small shell kit. The tone is rich and focused on all the drums. The natural finish is flawless and pleasant to look at too! This is my first birch set; I really like the warm tone of this wood. The kit appears extremely well-made and durable. I have been looking for a small set for quite some time and this kit exceeds all my expectations.

Was very impressed with the quality of these drums for the price. Bought them for my home studio and our church outreach gigs. Drums sound great across all tunings from low to high, very versatile kit. I am very happy that I went with us birch bop kit. Highly recommended this kit.

Pros: The all birch Stage Custom series is a semi pro quality at entry level pricing. I chose the natural wood model and it has a deep and slightly tinted finish that is simply amazing. Solid Yamaha hardware rounds out this shell pack.Cons: For a kit in this price point I expect it to ship with better stock heads. The insides of the shells and bass drum hoops could use more sanding as they were very rough. Unless you use a bass drum riser you’ll need to shorten your beater post or it will hit the bottom of the head. Not deal breakers but worth mentioning.This was shipped quickly thanks to AMS!!! It came in the original manufacturer’s box which was perfectly packed and all components were well protected.

Overall:Just bought this shell pack for a second kit and I’m very happy with them. The finish is descent quality but had light scuffing of the gloss in a few areas. Not noticeable unless in the right light and close up. The heads are REMO/ UT China...so the cheap version of Ambassadors. Sounded better then I thought they would. I’ll still replace them with Ambassadors or Evans calftones. The bass drum sounds pretty good. I’m looking for a more traditional bop sound and the cheaper heads that come on the kit are more geared to modern music. More thumpy. Still, again, sounds better then I though with the cheaper heads. Hardware is simple, straight forward and good quality. There was a rough/ scratchy patch but I easily sanded it smooth on both sides of edge and it’s fine now. So overall... a very nice kit that sounds good and a joy to play. I’m glad I bought it. The best bang for your buck in a bop kit!

If youre looking for a good quality, easily transportable kit at a great price point, the Yamaha Stage Custom Bop Kit will not disappoint! I changed out all the batter heads because I look for a very distinct sound that the Taiwanese heads cannot deliver. I put a lift on the kick and cut a port hole, again, for the sound and feel I prefer. You cant beat the sound from these little drums.
