I bought this 64 GB flash drive to back up the system files on a new laptop. After comparison shopping, the reason I chose this drive is twofold: (1) because the price was most reasonable, and (2) because the connector can be retracted into the body to protect it. It completed the backup process without any problems whatsoever, and now will be placed into my archive file so that if there is a problem with the laptop, I’ll be able to boot it from this flash drive. Also, one minor point: It has a keychain loop – I don’t put it on a keychain, but I attach an identification tag to all flash drives. I would (and most likely will) buy this drive again when additional space is needed. Recommended.

I have a total of three of these drives all 128GB. The latest one I purchased is extremely slow. I have formatted it in various formats and it is still slow to respond to transfer data to it. I tested the older two with the same data and they run 10 times faster. Literally, stop and go on transferring stating 5 minutes then expanding to a long time with pauses in the transfer. Very concerning.

I use a flash drive to back up information on my hard drive. I believe that is what these gizmos are supposed to do! This particular flash drive worked nicely (as do most flash drives) but the question of survivability over a period of years is not known. Flash drives do-upon occasion-fail; it is advisable to back up a flash drive using a second flash drive to provide a safety margin.

New complaints: I've been using this for a month. Last night, my computer had a popup screen that informed me I had to reformat the drive to use it. I clicked "quick format," and it failed. I tried again, this time using the other option, after 5 minutes my computer informed me the format failed. I tried using a different computer, different options, nothing. I don't know why it died. I needed a pair of scissors to open it, wasn't thrilled about that. Bought this for its large capacity. The 32 gigabyte it advertised is actually 29.8 gibibytes (For the same reason your 1TB hdd has only 931 GiB). I was able to format it to a NTFS instead of the default FAT, which took about 30 seconds. I then transferred about 700 MB of pictures to it, which took a little more than 2 minutes. I was hoping this would transfer much faster, but I guess I have to pay more for that. This flash drive does not feature a cap; after extending the USB connector I was pleased that it stayed out when I pushed it into my computer, I've had experiences where this was not the case.
So I got this to fix some computers with errors booting. Every one of them I set to boot from USB disabling the hard drive boot as an option too. If I take the stick out I get the no operating system found classic error so this is the usb booting that errors out. Checked the usb and there are files on the drive, unlike a CD I got from someone years ago that was blank. Running the setup files claims that the autorun is corrupt.
In the past I have given music students dvds of their recitals, but now with thin computers, students do not want dvds ... since they're useless without a separate player. So now I make a quicktime movie and give it to them on a flash drive that WILL play on their computers. These were the cheapest I could find. 8 gb is about the least storage I can use. I've passed two out. Neither person complained. It's not completely apparent how you're supposed to open one. There's a tiny in-comprehend-able diagram of what NOT to do. TIP: use your fingernail. to slide it open. I wouldn't expect the flimsy-feeling plastic to hold up to a lot of opening and closing.
While Verbatims quality is generally excellent and these drives work well from a technical perspective, I am not very happy with the case design. All "slider" drives hide the USB connector and let you push it out when needed. These drives, however, don't really "lock" in place when extended, so that most of the time, when inserting the drive into a computer, you push the drive back into it's case rather than making a secure connection inside the USB socket. This is quite annoying and has given me a lot of problems when a drive was only "partially" or loosely connected.
Being an active photographer in always on the go. These flash drives have always worked for me and I’m happy with them. THANKS B&H !! Been using B&H for a long time now and I won’t switch to anyone else.
I bought 8 when preparing for a two week mission. 2 didn't work at all. (B&H replaced the one I called them about, bless them.) The others were problematic: some were glacially slow, others would transfer ok for a while, then ultra slow for a while, during the same copy task. They did not give me confidence, and delayed progress in my work.
I've got some customers who insist on getting my shoots via flash drive. Needless to say, it made sense to find good drives for less and these are doing the trick. I've given out all 5 at time point and will probably be ordering more soon. Not the fastest upload/download speeds, but sufficient for the purpose.
