Make no mistake -- Red Loctite is permanent. This is the one to use for scope bases, Glock-style front sights, and other applications where you don't plan on ever removing that screw. I'm told you can free it up with enough heat, but fortunately I've never had to. For less permanent installations (e.g. scope rings, or anything else you might want to take apart some day) try Purple Loctite instead. I'm a gunsmith, and I keep Red, Blue, and Purple Loctite on hand at all times.

I use this on scope mount blocks where I don't want the screws coming out at all. For rings, use the Loctite Blue, for mounts, use this. You can get the screws loose again, but it takes considerable effort, and sometimes heat to get it loose. That's exactly what you want. You don't need your mount screws coming loose, especially on a once in a lifetime hunting trip.

Locktite is a great product. But it can be pretty expensive. So I bought the 250ml at a great price and filled up small empty containers. Worked out great. Thanks Zoro for great products at a great price. #sweepstakes

Make sure you know the color codings. I needed something a little stronger than the blue Loctite, even exposed to oil and solvents the Red Loctite won't slip. Red Threadlocker 271 (Automotive Aftermarket Only) is a high strength threadlocker for heavy-duty applications. Especially well suited for permanently locking studs and press fits. Adds 3,000 psi holding power on slip and press fit assemblies. *If you ever to want unscrew anything you've used the red on, use to blue.
This stuff it STRONG when properly applied. Clean your surfaces to be joined (I used brake cleaner) and they will never be apart again! The label actually says you must use 500+degree heat to remove. I used on swaybar end link notls that kept loosening. Never a problem again with this stuff!
We use Chicago screws to secure leather straps in places where most people may rivet. This allows for is to create a product that has a longer life. But we had a slight problem with the screws coming loose in certain circumstances. So now we use one of three different loctite threadlockers (based on the usage that our product will get). This allows us to still use screws, and to unscrew the screw it with a little extra work. This product has allowed us to continue our manufacturing process with very little change to our process. It absolutely works great and does what it says it will do.
