This guitar has an incredible sound. It is very full sounding. I have friends with much more expensive guitars that don't sound this good.I almost never have to tune it, it stays right on money when I'm not taking it around places. The only downside is it came with the action fairly high. I had it redone promptly by a pro, and it plays like a guitar 5x it's price now. The electronics are great, and I love that it has an XLR output. It comes with very nice phosphor bronze coated strings. I just can't get over how good it sounds even after having it 6 months.

Spent a few hours at my local GC fiddling around with lower priced acoustic guitars as I haven't played acoustic in almost a decade and wanted to get back into it. I used to have a Takamine dreadnought that had an ok preamp and tuner, I regrettably sold it for, reasons. But anyways, I'm a sucker for darker finishes so this immediately. The feel was unbelievable. Action is a bit high but not anything that can't be remedied. The sound immediately had my full attention as the low end vibrates much more pronounced than any guitar I'd tried that day, and it didn't lose any of the chime. I took it to the amp room and paired it with the fender acoustic amp set up in there. The pickup and preamp in this thing is absolutely spectacular. I rolled off the high a little bit for a nice smooth dark tone that really filled the room well. After I bought it and brought it home I plugged into my alesis multimix 8 with the XLR and recorded to my DAW using a plate reverb, and my God, it sounds so sweet and clean. This is a must have for anyone who loves acoustic guitar, at this price point there is no excuse to not have it in your arsenal. The sales rep at GC hooked me up with a really nice tweed roadrunner case that fits perfectly. The only thing I can say is a negative other than the action that doesn't even bother me that much, is the finish on the body is pretty inconsistent, but again, nothing that I can't remedy myself.

You absolutely can't beat this guitar for the money. It feels great, sounds great, tunes great, and even smells great. While every guitar I look at these days has gone up in price considerably Ibanez has somehow held the line on this baby. I own two other acoustics costing much more but still find myself often reaching for this one often. The guitar has a very warm sound, and is extremely easy to play. At twice the price itstill would be a good deal!

I have 2 of these, one was purchased in 2017 and was made in China, the second was purchased here in 2022, made in Indonesia, it feels a few ounces lighter, but both have an incredible sound for a guitar in this price range. The bass is punchy and full, mids are clean and highs are crisp. I've never had any issues with either, they stay in tune well, (w extra lite SP strings) Do well in damp/ high humidity, and they excel at basic open chord strumming. both came with normal acoustic action out of the box with no need for setup. I've recommended this model to beginner/ intermediate students for years, the bang for your buck is unmatched. I may just grab another as to practice installing electronics in.
Having played bass for 28 years I never thought I'd actually enjoy playing an acoustic guitar. I grabbed this as a barley used guitar for my daughters to learn on. Even if they don't follow through and get tired of it, I'll keep it for myself. The wood and finish are what caught my eye, as the mahogany and ovangkol match my 1206E nicely. But I was blown away when I realized how good it sounded both unplugged and amplified. Aside from a minor cosmetic issue (glue in center of book matched top seam) it was WELL worth the price they were giving away this used acoustic. It still had the pickguard wrap on it! I can't wait to reveal it to the girls for Christmas. A beautiful sounding piece of eye candy. I bought this for my son in 2017 and its been a great guitar and still going strong! We tried lots of guitars in the under $500 range and this one had a good sound and was easy to play. It stays in tune despite being stored on a stand full time. I play a Taylor and sometimes I would go to this guitar to have some fun or work out difficult progressions - its very easy to play and sounds good. Now 4 years it still performs great. Honestly I prefer this guitar to many sub $1000 guitars I check out at the store. If you have a beginner or just want a travel or vacation home guitar to play get one of these, put some Elixir nano coated strings on and it will be a virtually zero maintenance guitar ready to play.
I have hd28, d-18 , J-45 among many others high end and mid range guitars. Can't believe the sound you get from this acoustic guitar. If their was ever a diamond in the rough) Well it's this guitar. Isn't nothing rough about it at all. Playability better than all my other ones. Don't know why it's not more popular. Every review you can find on it the player is just amazing surprised. I get it out of its case every now and then and compare sound back to back with my other guitars. After a year it's still right there with them.
Aside from looks, which I'll comment on last. The guitar projects sound commandingly robustly. I've only played maybe two dozen acoustic guitars, and this is the loudest I've ever played. Bass notes are surreal, broadcasting with tone & volume I didn't know was possible. This allows the subtlety of gentle finger-picking, or performance in a noisy environment, to be readily heard. The neck and fretboard are fairly nicely done and I'm not sure you could reasonably ask for more in this price range. Accessing the upper frets is surprisingly easy, even with no cutaway. The action feels a little high to me, but it plays pretty well & I'm hesitant to try to make any adjustment. The guitar is very light weight. The action feels a little high to me, but it plays pretty well & I'm hesitant to try to make any adjustment. The guitar is very light weight. It is obvious by the guitar itself and how it was packaged that Ibanez is paying attention to the details of their quality control. Easily the WORST thing about this guitar are the tuners. They are really bad, in every way. It may be the bad tuners are responsible for so many reviewers saying the guitar needs constant tuning. The tuners have a lot of slack in their mechanism, so that tuning precisely is difficult. The mechanism feels cheap and rough when tuning. The tuner buttons have sharp edges that, while not sharp enough to cut your fingers, aren't comfortable. I've played cheaper guitars that've had much better tuners than those on this Ibanez. That leads me to the looks. Mahogany must be expensive, because I'm guessing that's where the money went producing this guitar. In pictures the sides look black, but the guitar's top, bottom & sides are all a uniform dark-brown. The wood has small divots all over that Ibanez calls "pores." There is darker brown binding highlighted by tiny white pinstripes on top & bottom of the body. The guitar is an ocean of varying dark brown shades. I'm not sure, but Art Wood may mean "The pores are so funky, just think of the wood as art to appreciate it, because that rough surface takes getting used to." Or could be the singer.
This is simply one of the best buys for the money. It's an $8000 sound from a $200 box! I mean what is to argue!? This thing sounds better than my most expensive aged solid body Martin and better than my Seagull Cedar top, and better than my Ovation Elite all excellent and expensive guitars! The action on this Ibanez $200 box is approx. 1.5 mm at the 12th fret on mine. The sustain is amazing, and even longer than the Ovation which I thought was the sustain champ! Honestly this guitar and it's little brother, the performer Travel 3/4 size one of the same wood have changed my opinion of solid body vs laminated or HPL whatever! Honestly this guitar and it's little brother, the performer Travel 3/4 size one of the same wood have changed my opinion of solid body vs laminated or HPL whatever! From these guitars forward when I see HPL I think cutting sound cause these nice light weight guitars while probably fragile due to the thinness of the wood resonate so well and sound so great simply because of that thin stock used! They are like fine violins with thin super vibrating yet stabalized and supported wood tops that makes this incredibly warm sound. You just have to buy one to believe it. The thin stock and flat top could play on life expectancy of the instrument, and it may be needede to keep them up with an oil or Scotts Liguid Gold or something so they don't crack over time but for the time you'll own this the sound makes it all worth while because I have a lot of guitars and since this one arrived not that long back the others are seriously going to be collecting dust. It's become my go to for the house and the Elks Club open mic night every month mostly due to the light weight and great sound! Everyone loved this guitar at the club! Nice sound is the first thing they notice cause it stops you dead to listen to it. Yeah it's that good!
I expect some level of setup needed with any guitar, but this one was on a whole other level of poor. The frets were so grossly unleveled that fret buzz happened at almost all strings and all frets, and there were some frets so far off that that note would play for 5 or 6 frets below the note. I've never seen anything that far off. Really a disappointment. I can do some level of setup on my own, but fret leveling is for a professional and I was hoping for a little bit better guitar out of the box. I've bought many over time and this was a disappointment to start. After professional setup and frets were leveled (time and cost) it ended up a pretty nice guitar, but wasn't as good of a deal at the end of the day.
