Bought 2 years ago. Within that first year, the inner hose tube split in multiple places and caused the outer tube to swell and look like a snake that had multiple big meals. Fast forward 6 months and the outer skin split in those spots, leaking everywhere but mostly inside the box which soaks the ground below. It works fine otherwise, but is disappointing overall. Attempted to disassemble and repair with a shortened section but it's not quite that easy.

Upon mounting the new hose reel on the existing brick wall,I discovered that the new plastic bracket didn’t line up with the old vertical holes. (bracket creep)Now I have two extra holes waiting to be filled by the Mud Wasps. Now that I have your attention I noticed that the supporting information on the box indicates the hose reel rotates to 180 degrees. Try to get it past approximately 170 degrees

Retractable hoses generally have bracket longevity and other issues but these (I have two) are as good or better than expensive models. Just hold firmly while retracting - fierce spring. Spray head works well. Very reasonable price in comparison with others.

In the first year the Holman hose reel was amazing but it soon started getting tangled up inside then got completely tangled and wouldn't retract. I ended up dismantling it and putting it back together which gave it a couple more months of life. It has now done the same thing and I'm going to replace it with another brand. It was easy to install but the mechanism that feeds the hose back into the reel gives way so the rose gets all jammed up on one side rather than going left-right-left and feeding it evenly. It wasn't cheap so I'm disappointed that it's going in the trash.
This unit is my second one and leaks profusely. Just replaced the hose ($19.36 from Holman Industries) that connects to the tap and still leaks from the internal connection. The UV stabilized is rubbish too. Mine is discoloured and aged due to the sun. Wouldn't recommend anyone buying this product.
The retraction locking mechanism broke after only 4 years. Hose was used once or twice a week max. Was happy to buy a new part to fix as out of warranty only to be told it's not replaceable. Now waiting for the retraction to fail too and I'll put the whole lot in the bin. Surely a hose reel should be built to last longer than this!Appreciated that Holman have an Australian support number though, and friendly staff even if they were the bearer of bad news.

The second example was even worse. After drilling and fitting the wall bracket suppled in the sealed box I discovered it was the wrong size - it is supposed to be for the 10m reel instead of the 20m reel that I purchased. This meant the mounting tube was too big to fit through the hole in the wall bracket. The wall bracket for the 20m reel is obviously bigger and chunkier to take the extra weight of the 20m reel. Ok it’s not the rolls Royce of retractable hoses but it’s not inexpensive either. Had our just over 2 1/2 years and incredibly disappointed. Just finished battling with the thing. The hose twists and blocks the water until you untwist it, pulling the hose out is equal to any good workout. My wife can’t do it on her own. Then you have to pray and plead for it to retract and even then mine won’t fully retract. I know it’s left outdoors but that’s where it’s supposed to be. Save your time, money and a whole lot of frustration and don’t purchase.
Bought it 2 years ago to replace broken HoseLink. Easy to instal and use except.1. Hose material is soft and hose regularly separates from nozzle. Easy to fix but never leave it pressurised when you go away or you could flood the suburb. 2. Retraction mechanism non return spray has failed so you have tp work very hard to hold it when you pull it out.
there is a lot of adverse reports about retractable hose reelsI think the problem rests with the manuafactures if you follow the instructions to the letter regarding extending and more importantly rewinding these hoses work well not everyone has a practicle approacto the instructions i think the makers should show greater emphise on the importance of the extending/retrieving actions it is really impoirtant that these actions be done correctly .If you want to see less adverse comments then give people more invloved detales about actions
