Light, easy to assemble and comfortable for 230 lb, 6’4” camper. I have the chair zero for full comfort backpacking but we wanted chairs to use car camping. These are tall enough to make it easy to sit and lean back, and the seat is high enough off the ground to make it easy to get out of. No pinched feeling for my larger frame and my lower back is supported (unlike “bag chairs” that cripple me. Yes, the feet sink into the sand and soft dirt but I’m not willing to pay extra for the add-on grd cloth. Maybe instead of a zippered bag, a roll-up grd cloth could be used

Very disappointed, especially at the price point. The chair appeared to be the perfect thing to keep in the car and use at camp sites, concerts, etc. I wanted to love the chair but will be returning it. Both my sister and I tried it. We are 5'7''and 5'8"and average weight. We both found the chair to be less than stable on a hard wood floor. Additionally, the design is such that we both had to slouch to use the neck/headrest, so not comfortable. Unfortunately, cannot recommend it. I hope that Helinox will redesign it for more stability and comfort. One bright spot: The chair was very easy to set-up and tear down, as advertised. This is a nice chair. It is heavier than the other Helinox chairs in the line but it is much more comfortable to be higher of the ground. However, I have to return it. It takes brute strength to pull the canvas over the fourth and final point of attachment. I cannot assemble it. In the store, I was unable to do it. A strong salesperson (big guy) in the store had to pull very hard to get the fourth and final corner attached for me. He encouraged me to take it home and give it a try so I did. It is a no go. I have been working on it for the last 20 minutes. Of course, they want it to be taunt so the chair is supportive. But honestly, even a strong guy had a difficult time pulling the thick, canvas fabric very taunt so it fits into/over the final point of attachment. ... MoreThis is a nice chair. Unless you are strong, try it out before you head out with this thing. I am not weakling but it is ridiculous. They must get lots of returns.

I've owned a ground chair for many years that I picked up at a gear swap meet and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately as I get older it is getting too hard to get out of once I'm down. I tried a Sunset Chair at Nantahala Outdoor Center in Gatlinburg and it was great. So instead of going for the gold I researched and purchased some Amazon chairs that resemble the chair I wanted. In my opinion the comfort, quality, and safety do not compare to Helinox. So after being cheap, and wasting more hard earned money on dangerous uncomfortable chairs than I would have spent if I had just bought the Helinox, I picked up two from their website. I am 5' 7" 200lbs and the Sunset chair is not only super comfortable it's also very sturdy and feels very secure when putting your weight ... I am 5' 7" 200lbs and the Sunset chair is not only super comfortable it's also very sturdy and feels very secure when putting your weight on the back. Setup is a breeze and, unlike other chairs that resemble these, it doesn't feel like you're going to break it. The pockets that the poles fit into are very strong and appear to be reinforced multiple times. Helinox has an amazing product and I have no doubt these are the last chairs I ever have to buy. Quality like Helinox is nearly extinct these days as manufacturers turn to disposable products to keep you buying and thats not a corner that should be cut in this industry and Helinox certainly hasn't cut any corners. Ordering was easy and when I called to verify my order their customer service is second to none.
Shortly after I submitted my earlier review, Jacob from Helinox contacted me regarding the defective chair. He listened to my story, understood why I was upset, and went out of his way to make things right for me - I was sent a replacement chair 2 days later, as well as extra shock cords in case it broke again in the future. I understand that things happen and no matter how great a product is, one can still end up with the odd/rare defective one. Yes it was annoying that it broke after one use, but what was even more upsetting was that the warranty process appeared to be cumbersome and not timely. However, Jacob proved me wrong on the latter - he and the company went above and beyond to make things right. When spending a lot of money on a product, it is especially ... When spending a lot of money on a product, it is especially important to have peace of mind that if a problem (through no fault of your on) arises it will be dealt with swiftly and with no hassle. Jacob and the entire Helinox team were all that and more. Thank you! And yes, the chair is awesome, - so light and compact, yet still comfortable! I will be looking to purchase the Savanna chair next!
Buy once, cry once. In the last four weeks, I have used this chair at four very different sites, and it proved to be ideal for each one. We started the month in SC to watch our daughter play softball. This chair is much more comfortable than any bleacher seat. During our week there we also managed to squeeze in some beach time - chair was ideal for reading / napping. The second week in March, back home in Michigan, I took the chair skiing/snowboarding. From putting on boots, to providing a comfortable spot for lunch, the chair is always in the truck. Finally, today I spent 6 hours at a Motorcycle swap meet - helping my son with his booth. Chair was again perfect for extended sitting. Four weeks, four very different applications / locations, but the chair for the ... MoreBuy once, cry once. My whole family has Sunset Chairs now. I love how mine fits in my suitcase for travel, into my backpack for the beach or a local parade, and in my car trunk for anytime. Best of all, it is the perfect height. I can easily get in and out of it. As one with some artificial joints but a pioneer spirit, I can sit back and relax, or leap up and play. The Sunset Chair just makes me smile! Keep up the good work! My adult kids have the tiny table, too. It holds beers, cheese curds, flashlights and everything!
Under the guise of an 'improvement' Helinox removed the velcro at the top/head area and replaced this with a large flap to hold whatever you happen to have. Great idea unless you happened to have purchased Helinox's pillows which rely on foam to stay put. "But you can slide the Helinox pillow in the flap ..." you say. Yep, you sure can, and then because that pillow is so slippery it will slide right out when you least exepct it, and there is NO WAY to preserve the height of the pillow, PERIOD. Epic fail Helinox. Fire whomever came up with that flap idea and nixed the velcro, or at the very least kick them off the design team and put them in the shipping department. The other issue is the chair lacks any arm rests, nor even an aftermarket arm rest attachment, ... The other issue is the chair lacks any arm rests, nor even an aftermarket arm rest attachment, ensuring that if you have guests you wish to get rid of, well, just offer them these chairs and they will be gone in about 1/2 hour. Helinox makes a cup holder attachment so ... what is stopping you from making an arm rest attachment, that and sell a 'velcro kit' to hold the Helinox pillow. Heck you could have put the velcro on the underside of the flap and accomplished the same thing. Maybe I should work for your design team.
I bought the Sunset chair, and after using it one time, one of the shock cords broke. I have camped a lot and bought all types of gear that were not as high end as the Helinox products, and I have never had a shock cord break on me. For a chair this expensive, I expected more. I contacted the store I bought it from, and they have filed a claim for a replacement chair with Helinox. Apparently this is going to take a while. I bought this chair so I could use it in the summer. I live in Canada (Ontario) and our summers are short. So it looks like I will not have the chair to use this summer. Very disappointed with not only the quality of the chair, but the process involved in getting a replacement chair. I would not recommend this product. If I could give it zero stars ... This is a perfect chair for my weight, height and hip width (approx 150 and 5'8". Easy to get in and out of, the Helinox, is extremely easy to set up and take down. The sturdy mesh panels in seat are great, although I have gotten several bum mosquito bites because it. Packs up easily into the Helinox bag. Stuff a towel or extra jacket into the Helinox bag and you have a wonderful pillow to look at the stars. there is a wide strap with velcro to hold the pilllow in place. Working on a laptop I don't miss having armrests or cup holder. If you are wider in the hips (lucky you) this may not be the chair for you.
