Build is great, comfort could be better (for me)

Picked up this chair and took all of a minute to realize this would not be comfortable for me. Pressure points on the legs at the seats edge and it squeezed my hips together. The headrest is hard even stuffing the bag in the loop. I guess you could put a pillow or towel in there as it appears to be designed for it. But I'm not looking for that kinda of chair and that only remedies the least issue I had with it. I also felt it was reclined a bit too much which made the lower seat section awkward as you need to slouch a bit to lay back. I will say build and material is impressive, stitching is solid, chair is solid, easy to get out out of, just not a comfy fit for me. I accept it's personal and not on Helinox. My search continues. My advice, sit before you commit.

Chair One sold me on Helinox

You'll find a lot of fan-boy-ish sounding reviews on Helinox's site, but there's a reason for it: their products are fantastic. After a very uncomfortable series of days on beaches while my family splashed around in various bodies of water this summer, I did a lot of research looking for light-weight, easily-packable chairs and ended up picking up the Chair One as a compromise between size, weight, price, and expected longevity (the fact they offer a five year warranty is pretty telling, in a market where you're lucky to get one). The fact that Helinox chairs can be converted into rocking chairs was also a big reason I tired Helinox instead of some other brand (I ordered the rocking attachments alongside the chair).I set up the chair, sat in it at home, and have ... MoreYou'll find a lot of fan-boy-ish sounding reviews on Helinox's site, but there's a reason for it: their products are fantastic. The fact that Helinox chairs can be converted into rocking chairs was also a big reason I tired Helinox instead of some other brand (I ordered the rocking attachments alongside the chair).I set up the chair, sat in it at home, and have since been using it every chance I get (need another seat in the living room? I'll go grab my Chair One! Going to the lake? Chair One! Off for a last hurrah at my family's property near a beach but without any real amenities? Chair One!). Here's the good and the "I can live with it" (there's no real bad):I am 6' 2" and a complete beanpole (145lbs on a good day). This makes it very difficult for me to find furniture that is comfortable, but the Chair One somehow manages. When sitting in it, the back of the chair comes up to just above the bottom of my shoulder blades (no cutting into my should blades! Which of course protrude). It sits a little low compared to less-portable chairs, but my knees aren't up around my chin, either. It's a nice interim height for me, honestly, and doesn't feel awkward to get in or out of (but I'm also still in my 30s; might age out of it). The fabric doesn't cut into my legs, but it *does* cut into my arms a little if I stick them out over the sides of the chair. I suspect this is a "me" problem, though; I can tuck them inside the fabric right up against my body if I'm feeling chilly, and I suspect if I had a few extra pounds and were a little wider, it would be a non-issue because the sides of the chair would more or less conform to my sides. The back support is surprisingly good for such a simple chair; I can sit it in for long periods at a time without discomfort.Assembling the chair takes a little bit of strength, but I expect this to get easier over time as the fabric relaxes a bit, and it's still ridiculously fast to setup and teardown. This is an "I can live with it" aspect to the chair, because it stores so perfectly in the included bag that I just don't care. The rockers are a mixed bag. On the plus side, if you're on even ground (or inside) they're wonderful. Easy to rock, and I never feel like I'm going to fall over backwards. The one downside is that with my length of leg, I tend to not have a lot of rocking available, because the chair rolls pretty far back when I sit down. They also prevent the chair's legs from sinking into less-even ground (although I haven't tried the chair on sand, so I don't know how much that will matter). However, the trouble when using the rockers on something like uneven grass is that they aren't connected to one another in any way. So as you rock back, if one rocker hits a clump of dirt or rock or something, it will stop moving while its partner continues, causing the whole chair to flex. I don't think this is causing any damage or anything, but it's not a very comfortable rocking experience. The real downside to the rockers is that they're so much longer than the chair's packed length, that you have to keep them in a separate bag (which is very easy to misplace). I've been stuffing it into the chair's bag, which I then hang on the front of the chair frame to keep it out of the way, which is fine when the chair is setup, but they're still a pain to wrangle when carrying it around. I'm on the fence about whether I should acquire rockers for my future Helinox chair purchases.Which leads me to probably the biggest endorsement for the Helinox Chair One: after using Chair One for just a few short weeks, I'm already entirely happy to throw a few hundred more dollars Helinox's way because I'm so happy with Chair One. I want the Vibram ball feet as an alternative to the rockers (if I'm lucky, they'll fit in the original chair bag, and should work a lot better on uneven ground). I want one of the high backed chairs "for my wife" (I'll totally be stealing it), since the one real downside of Chair One is that you can't really lean back and relax in it (it's comfortable, but better for actively rocking or similar; certainly can't nap in it). I'm eyeing their tables, their camping cots (even though I basically never go camping--but hey, guests could use it!), their sunshade, you name it.Chair One likely isn't for everyone, but if you have a need for a comfortable, light-weight and easy to pack, versatile chair I really don't think you can do better. Just watch out: it may be the gateway drug to an entire fleet of stupidly comfortable and well-made "camp" furniture. It really is that good.

Don't buy this unless you are VERY strong
20 February 2023

This is a nice chair. It is heavier than the other Helinox chairs in the line but it is much more comfortable to be higher of the ground. However, I have to return it. It takes brute strength to pull the canvas over the fourth and final point of attachment. I cannot assemble it. In the store, I was unable to do it. A strong salesperson (big guy) in the store had to pull very hard to get the fourth and final corner attached for me. He encouraged me to take it home and give it a try so I did. It is a no go. I have been working on it for the last 20 minutes. Of course, they want it to be taunt so the chair is supportive. Don't cheat yourself. Buy Helinox!

I've owned a ground chair for many years that I picked up at a gear swap meet and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately as I get older it is getting too hard to get out of once I'm down. I tried a Sunset Chair at Nantahala Outdoor Center in Gatlinburg and it was great. So instead of going for the gold I researched and purchased some Amazon chairs that resemble the chair I wanted. In my opinion the comfort, quality, and safety do not compare to Helinox. So after being cheap, and wasting more hard earned money on dangerous uncomfortable chairs than I would have spent if I had just bought the Helinox, I picked up two from their website. Setup is a breeze and, unlike other chairs that resemble these, it doesn't feel like you're going to break it. The pockets that the poles fit into are very strong and appear to be reinforced multiple times. Helinox has an amazing product and I have no doubt these are the last chairs I ever have to buy. Quality like Helinox is nearly extinct these days as manufacturers turn to disposable products to keep you buying and thats not a corner that should be cut in this industry and Helinox certainly hasn't cut any corners. Ordering was easy and when I called to verify my order their customer service is second to none.

Far, far less than what I expected.

I have previously used Helinox products that friends have (Chair One XL and Sunset) and I was absolutely blown away with what a quality and comfortable product they produce. I've used theirs on many camping trips, adventures, and even just lounging around in the yard around the fire pit. So I had absolutely no problem spending over $300 on a full Helinox set of my own. When I received my set (Chair One and Tactile Table) I was very pleased with the finish. They seemed to function just fine in the living room. I recently took them out for the first time on a trip to Moab and they were pretty disappointing out in the field. I recently took them out for the first time on a trip to Moab and they were pretty disappointing out in the field. The two end assemblies that secure all the poles are not fixed and place to the center pole and are free to float back and forth. This allows the chair to flex in an undesirable manner when you try to twist you body even slightly to the left or right. On leg will lift off the ground causing the chair to want to fall over. 3 people, myself included, fell over while using these chairs. It's pretty embarrassing considering people know what I paid for these chairs. I haven't noticed this free pivot design in any of their other products I've used. I even went back and checked with others around camp. While they were all different models, none had this free pivot design flaw. Nowhere on the website does it talk about the difference in how the poles mount up or whether they free pivot or not. I've used the ball feet before on other products, but I don't think even that would stabilize these chairs. I've sat other Helinox chairs in rocky creeks with no issues, yet these chairs can't sit in a hard packed dirt camp ground? Honestly, my $20 Walmart knock off is more stable than this thing. I just don't understand how this chair can be so different than ALL their other products I've experienced with no explanation or description on their website. The more I think about it, the more upset I get, and the more I realize I really don't like these chairs. This truly is a major disappointment and I'll probably end up getting rid of them and finding something else.

No velcro on headrest area ...
7 June 2023

Under the guise of an 'improvement' Helinox removed the velcro at the top/head area and replaced this with a large flap to hold whatever you happen to have. Great idea unless you happened to have purchased Helinox's pillows which rely on foam to stay put. "But you can slide the Helinox pillow in the flap ..." you say. Yep, you sure can, and then because that pillow is so slippery it will slide right out when you least exepct it, and there is NO WAY to preserve the height of the pillow, PERIOD. Epic fail Helinox. Fire whomever came up with that flap idea and nixed the velcro, or at the very least kick them off the design team and put them in the shipping department. The other issue is the chair lacks any arm rests, nor even an aftermarket arm rest attachment, ... MoreUnder the guise of an 'improvement' Helinox removed the velcro at the top/head area and replaced this with a large flap to hold whatever you happen to have. The other issue is the chair lacks any arm rests, nor even an aftermarket arm rest attachment, ensuring that if you have guests you wish to get rid of, well, just offer them these chairs and they will be gone in about 1/2 hour. Helinox makes a cup holder attachment so ... what is stopping you from making an arm rest attachment, that and sell a 'velcro kit' to hold the Helinox pillow. Heck you could have put the velcro on the underside of the flap and accomplished the same thing. Maybe I should work for your design team.

Spacious and comfortable for reclining

I had actually ordered the same model, but in the sunset chair. I realized upon opening this one that it’s the beach chair, but I actually really like how low it is. It would be nice so that I can place my drink on the ground next to me since it doesn't have cup holders or arm rests like the Savanah chair does.I thought it would be hard to get up from this height as it’s quite low, but it’s actually quite easy to get up from this chair. I also like stretching my feet and resting them on the ground with this one.I like how the legs have those flat things to keep it from potentially sinking into the sand, though I have not tested it for that.Is is more than double the original chair zero size, seems quite bulky but good for car camping, park or festival.

Very portable!

We were looking to replace our very, old falling apart, bulky camp chairs with a much lighter, packable, and transportable (into kayaks) chairs. The Helinox Chair Two is probably 2/3s smaller when packed into their bags than old chairs and so much lighter. Seems to have good back and head support, nice for a nap. The Chair Two is narrow (my husband and are pretty thin people) and it's a snug fit when sitting. With no arm rests the edge of the chair kind of pressures your arm if you try to rest your arm on it so we cut foam pipe insulation and fit it perfectly on the arm edge (which packs perfectly in chair bag) making it very comfy indeed. A cheap and easy solution. best chair

I own quite a few Helinox chairs and this is probably my favourite one of the bunch. The weight-to-comfort ratio is perfect with the Sunset chair. It is roomy enough to be really comfortable ... which is originally why I got the Savanna chair but without the extra weight that comes with the Savanna chair. Prior to getting this chair, the Beach chair was probably my favourite and most used Helinox purchase because of it's light weight. However, sitting low to the ground isn't always comfortable for me. The biggest selling point for this chair is that the Sunset and Beach chair are pretty much the same weight! This makes it possible for me to bring the chair with me on small hikes to scenic picnic spots. The Sunset chair represents the perfect middle ground between the Beach and Savanna chairs when it come to weight and comfort. All three of these chairs are amazing chairs and very comfortable ... but the Sunset is the perfect chair for what I need. Also, I was hesitant to get the green chair (all that was available at the time). All my chairs are in the classic blue/black but the green is really nice too. I have no regrets! Very happy with my purchase.
