I got it on heavy sale, so for me, I'm quite happy. I got the barebones kit with pudding keycaps and I bought some MX2A silent reds (which are awesome). I sorted it out, but it just seems like an easy fix.You cannot reprogram the volume knob to do anything else. I also bought the numpad and that one supposedly lets you change the rotation and the click to do different things, but the keyboard does not. Also, on the other one, the click is supposed to let you have some media/playback controls and I tried those settings. Most of them cause the click to open up the windows calculator app...why?!As far as I can tell, there's no gasket functionality in this...there's no flex at all.The software lighting effect controls are really difficult to get sorted. I ended up just simplifying what I wanted and ignored that there are separate layers and profiles (opting to set up two profiles). Sometimes cycling through profiles makes the keyboard get stuck and forget what I programmed into it. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked fine.The software needs to be opened as administrator or it will just open a bunch of background tasks and it doesn't open the software. i get a javascript error any time I try to open the software, but it doesn't seem to impact anything. There are no forum posts or web posts about this.Pros:With my switches of choice, this thing is super quiet and very comfortable to use. I'm really happy with the color scheme, I got the lighting to look really good, and after a lot of trial and error, the knobs and sliders and everything (between the keyboard and numpad) are good to go. I had a different mechanical keyboard before that was "made for gaming!" and all that and it was a loud piece of garbage. This thing feels like quality and it feels good to use. It is night and day better than any other keyboard I've ever used. It isn't just suitable for gaming, because it's actually a pleasure to type on as well. I listed a lot of little nit-picks above, but they're mostly all solvable problems that Glorious could work on and that's why I put them here for feedback.

The software suite that accompanies their products is well done, works great, doesn't conflict with other software (looking at you, iCue), and if you also buy their Model O or other mouse, you can use it to control the features and RGB of all your Glorious products (very much like Logitech G products can all be controlled by the Logitech software). This is something I think Keychron just took a different path with, not necessarily better or worse, because as an enthusiast PRODUCTIVITY board, the Q series is VIA/QMK compatible with NO in-house Keychron-made software/firmware available.GMMK Pro is QMK compatible, but why would you do that when the Glorious firmware/software is so good already?Again, this is my OPINION, and hardcore Keeb enthusiasts will eviscerate me for saying that most likely. But for the average gamer, the Glorious software/firmware is great and all you need.The overall experience of the GMMK Pro is fantastic. I do love the board. Given the hot-swap PCB, which allows you to use whatever switch you desire with no soldering; the beautiful RGB, the knob, the flex (with optional flex kit) and the range of color options and plate materials available if you wanted to get crazy customizing your GMMK Pro, I think this is a great product that I will get many years of enjoyment from.**Quick note on the different top-plates and knobs and keycap sets that are sold on Glorious' website; I think most of that stuff is overpriced, but if you think of it as an option to "change" the board after a year or two, to get a different look or aesthetic, then the cost doesn't seem as outrageous. But if you bought it all up-front, you'd be crazy because that would cost a TON of $$$.***Another quick note, GLORIOUS, PLEASE sell the PCB for GMMK Pro separately! Those of us who bought the flex kit would like to build another board with the spare bottom, we can buy a new case top piece and plate and then we'd have TWO GMMK Pro builds, and could at least use that spare bottom plate that gets replaced with the new Flex Kit. Please sell us the PCB separately! Would be cool to have one board with big flex, and another (maybe with tactile switches) that has no flex and a different case color/plate material. Just do it :)

I recently built my custom GMMK Pro keyboard. I am almost completely happy with it. I had to send my first barebones kit back, because the screws that hold down the aluminum frame, that I was going to replace with the brass frame were stripped. Glorious was great in getting me a new barebones kit, however, I did have to pay for shipping, but the new kit wasn't without it's flaws. This time instead of having two stripped screws it had one, in the same spot, so I wasn't able to use my brass plate that I wanted to. I decided not to gamble again on getting a barebones kit without stripped screws, so I just went with the included aluminum frame. I wasn't very happy with that but after building my keyboard "almost" the way I wanted it, it was perfect. I will never know ... MoreI recently built my custom GMMK Pro keyboard. A unit shouldn't come with stripped screws and that has happened to a lot of people who use the GMMK Pro barebones kit.Focusing only on the keyboard it will last my needs for a long time and I don't regret going with Glorious for my first go around. I gave the rating three stars, only because the product did not let me build it with all the parts I intended to use with it. If the screws hadn't been stripped on either kit, it would be five stars all around.
(I am currently typing this on my GMMK Pro that I built as a birthday/college gift for my friend.)This keyboard has been in the making for about a month now, and I have some thoughts. Quality-wise, it's mostly incredible. I got this for a sweet $110 deal, but even at its MSRP of $170 (2023) it still has a lot to offer. Fully CNC'd anodized aluminum case (I got black) looks incredible and gives the keyboard a nice, premium weight. My only complaint with the case is that its a fingerprint magnet, especially the black variant. Keep a microfiber cloth on standby. The inclusion of case foam is a nice touch, even if it's pretty thin. The case does feature a silicon-sock gasket mounting style, which is a nice touch and provides some minor flexibility and a more even ... More(I am currently typing this on my GMMK Pro that I built as a birthday/college gift for my friend.)This keyboard has been in the making for about a month now, and I have some thoughts. Quality-wise, it's mostly incredible. I got this for a sweet $110 deal, but even at its MSRP of $170 (2023) it still has a lot to offer. Fully CNC'd anodized aluminum case (I got black) looks incredible and gives the keyboard a nice, premium weight. My only complaint with the case is that its a fingerprint magnet, especially the black variant. Keep a microfiber cloth on standby. The inclusion of case foam is a nice touch, even if it's pretty thin. The case does feature a silicon-sock gasket mounting style, which is a nice touch and provides some minor flexibility and a more even typing experience. Emphasis on the minor, however, the gaskets are particularly thin and the included extra gasket strips do not alleviate that problem.The PCB being fully hotswappable, supporting both 3 and 5-pin switch types, and having south-facing LEDs is a lifesaver. The PCB itself is also very intuitive, with a clearly defined hard reset switch located under the ARM controller and an easy-to-spot connector to the daughterboard. The included PCB foam gives it a nice sound, too.The included aluminum plate is pretty good quality. I also purchased an additional polycarbonate plate for $20, which provided a noticeable increase in flexibility and a deeper typing sound. I would spring for that if you can. The top part of the case is very high quality as well, as the rotary encoder knob is very useful, especially for Windows users. It being tactile is a bonus point.The included stabilzers are definitely a sore point, they are fairly scratchy and could use some more thoughtfully applied factory lube. The backspace and enter keys in particular sound a little rough. Additionally, the plates on the GMMK Pro are cut very intentionally, leaving only enough room for the noticeably-slim profile of the Glorious stabilizers, while not having room for many other brands. If you want to use other aftermarket stabilizers (which I highly recommend), you'll have to either file down the plate or use slim stabilizers. The C3 Equalz stabilizers fit perfectly without any modifications needed.While the keyboard itself is very strong, the building process is finicky. The keyboard is relatively easy to disassemble, containing only 8 case screws, 8 pcb-plate screws, 4 acrylic diffuser screws, and 2 plate screws.The screws, however, are insanely tight. The case screws in particular are hard to get out without some force, and the keyboard I'm currently typing on has a stripped screw that I was unable to get out and hence why I could not include my polycarbonate plate and aftermarket stabilizers.The first time I built this keyboard, I was able to do everything without much of a hitch until I flashed the keyboard using QMK, which turned out to be a mistake as the board was bricked. However, the Glorious customer service was very responsive (responding through email at 2-3 am) and understanding. I showed them a video of my problem, the serial number, and my order number, and they shipped me a replacement keyboard for free.Overall, the keyboard sounds and feels fantastic (Gateron Milky Yellows L+F + PBT Doubleshot Cherry Keycaps), but took two tries to make happen and can be sketchy at times. Proceed with optimistic caution.

This rating is based upon the finished product (which is amazing), and not the painful process of modifying it. I have been using a modified GMMK PRO barebones model for almost a month and have had no issues with the board's quality. The RGB lights on the sides look great and make the board very unique, the keyboard sounds great (especially with switches like the Gateron oil kings), the board has great build quality, and it has a knob. HOWEVER, it cannot be understated how much of a hellish nightmare this keyboard is to mod. The screws must be machine tightened due to how unfathomably tight they are, and then combined with their lackluster quality, they strip very easily. Now this doesn't ring true for every screw, but there will always be 1 or 2 (or 4) case screws ... To get these screws out, I had to apply a heavy amount of Krytox 205g0 lubricant on a brush and then around and under the stuck screws; then, after waiting an hour, the stubborn screws came undone (this technique was recommended to me by the Glorious support team who were very helpful and understanding people that sent me a replacement after I damaged my first one trying to get the darn screws off). There is also one other issue that I have with the keyboard, being that it is not compatible with popular stabilizers like the Durock v2. The preinstalled stabilizers aren't bad, but they are sticky and very much have waaaay to much lubricant on them, making it understandable to want to replace them with a better stabilizer. To attach my Durock v2 stabilizers to the pcb and have the aluminum plate fit on top, I had to take a nail filer and manually file back certain points my aluminum plate. The pain was probably worth it, as the GMMK PRO is 100% my favorite keyboard by far, but in all honesty, I would never in 1 million years put myself through the process of modifying it ever again. 10/10, would not build again (for people planning to mod it, either get a different 75% barebones keyboard, or suffer and get a great final product).

Right out of the box, I would consider the board unusable as 2 of the 4 stabilizers were so over-lubricated they stuck at the bottom when you pressed the key (in my case, the left shift and backspace were both "sticky"). Even with the excessive amounts of lubricant, it was applied so poorly that the stabilizers still rattled. The cheap screws used to put this thing together combined with the incredible amount of torque put on them during the build process caused 3 of them to strip just getting them loose (all plate screws...). The threads for the screw holes were questionable at best and made the assembly process a nightmare. Lots of unnecessary force later due to stripped screws or damaged threads, it was back together. At this point, from an outsider's perspective, it's a great board. With some TLC, this thing can look and sound fantastic but it definitely needs some help. This was a commissioned board so the recipient will be none the wiser, but it was definitely more work than it should've been for a fairly simple board design.Overall, I give it one star back for it's "post-rebuild" state, but it loses 3 for each time I felt like throwing it across the room during the process. As much as I admire Glorious for wanting to be a staple in the "entry-level" mechanical keyboard space, their build practices do not produce a consistent enough board for me to recommend it to somebody new to do it themselves (this was not my first GMMK build, I was part of the first batch group back when this board first released and it wasn't nearly as bad the first time around). That being said, as far as an entry-level self-assembly I think it could be wonderful. Stop putting them together in-house, drop the price $50 and give the customer all the parts they need with a good build guide and I think it will work out better for folks trying to get started in the keyboard hobby.

Any time I have had to in the past they are very quick to get back to you and provide a good resolution.

This is dumb.The stabilizer issues are also apparent on their full prebuilt units, and I think I'd be even more annoyed if I had to tear down a retail keyboard to fix a factory flaw, but it is what it is. I think there are other barebones that are similar in build quality and price and have fewer flaws from the factory (Keychron being one that springs to mind)
