The newest movies in the Harry Potter saga are much more enjoyable than I thought they would be! This gives you a chance to relive the first one, in the zany Lego games form!Remember, you don't need to actually assemble the figures to play, you can just use the base which contains the chip. But come on, it's Lego! You know you want to build it! :)

I have been waiting a while for Lego to release an expansion to Dimensions. I've already played through all of the level packs and was in need of a whole new world. They captured the Harry Potter universe while distinctively being Lego. The new characters are a welcome change although their powers really aren't all that different from Gandalf and The Wicked Witch. The world and different levels are what really stick out.I'm not a fan of having to fetch different pieces to make a new portal all over again but the experience feels less painful than it did during my first run-through in Dimensions (especially the Portal levels). I'm not sure if this is worth the full retail price but Best Buy had it on sale during Black Friday and the sale press made this well worth ... MoreI have been waiting a while for Lego to release an expansion to Dimensions. Fans of Dimensions and Harry Potter will enjoy this. It doesn't do anything to really change the formula from the first game but that's OK as we now have a vast Harry Potter universe to explore.

I play every lego game. I 100% all of them. Lego dimensions may be my favorite. I get to play the lego game and get to play with physical Legos at the same time. In what other game can batman ride a flying monkey from the wizard of oz? Or gandolf ride a velociraptor? The possibilities are endless. Plus the characters dialog with character from other universes is hilarious.

Mix the fun of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Lego video games and you get another great addition to the Lego Dimensions. This is a large expansion to the game with multiple levels that are based on the recent Fantastic Beasts movie. Lots of the regular Lego jokes and some cameos from the other Lego Dimensions characters. It feels a little short for the cost but it has more pieces which make up for that. Plus you can now use these items with the rest of your Lego Dimensions game.
I love legos. I loved building the set the most. This one is pretty creative with the doors and moving windows. I think the ghostbusters one is my favorite so far, but this is great too. The character in this one has a unique ability to step inside his case where you might find more hidden mini kits. I haven't seen that in any other worlds so far but I maybe have missed them. The "vehicle" in this one is actually just a playable character with a dig ability if you don't have that one.I have barely started the story. They never measure up to the movies. But its lego and mindless fun of smashing stuff up and looking for stuff.
LEGO Dimensions certainly upped the ante for their second year. Amongst the 14 famous franchises it had at first like the Simpsons and Back to the Future, 16 more have joined the ranks, including the legendary Harry Potter franchise. But, so it wouldn't miss out on the fun, it's prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, has also joined the fray, taking wizards and witches back to 1920s New York City, years before the rise of Voldemort. There's no Hogwarts, no Dumbledore, no Hogwarts Express; there's only a hidden wizard society and a group out to eradicate them much like the Salem Witch Trials.Enter Newt Scamander, a man who's got a case full of dozens of magical creatures, including the money addicted Niffler. But poor old Newt's got his hands full when those creatures are accidentally set loose, setting on the wrath of the anti-wizard group and the Magical Congress of the United States of America. Now he has to get out into the world and look for those missing creatures before they cause trouble and fully expose the wizard world to the No-Maj (that's American for the more familiar term Muggles). What makes this particular pack enjoyable is to be able to play through the entire movie, much like Ghostbusters did last wave. So, you not only explore the entire world of Fantastic Beasts, you can complete the story by interacting with it as needed. All you have to do is build the new base, in the form of MACUSA, and plop down Newt and his Niffler to explore this world. It also helps that Eddie Redmayne is doing the voice of the character again, though it uses new dialogue and archived audio, depending on the instance. To anyone who's seen the movie and enjoyed his performance, this will be a treat. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I'd recommend waiting to buy this until you do, so you can compare the differences. It's basically the same story, but scrunching it into six levels has left out some key details to be certain, so make sure to see the film so you're not missing out on the full experience.Overall, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is more than welcome to LEGO Dimensions. It's, dare I say, fantastic!
This Lego Dimensions set was bought to add to our already massive collection. It doesn't disappoint. It is comparable in quality to the other sets, after all it is a Lego product. The great thing about this set is just how much content you get with it. It's practically like a whole game in itself. I was skeptical at first as to why this set was so expensive compared to the level packs, but it was totally worth it!
Good addition to the Lego dimensions set. We have had issues downloading the story packs though in the past. We are running an older 360 but we should still not have issues with the story pack downloading. My son likes to build the pieces as much as he likes to play the game though. I would recommend if you have not had issues with downloading story packs. Fun pack to play.
Our entire family has enjoyed playing the new story pack, that is, when the system doesn't lock up. This may be particular to the xbox 360, I don't know, but since downloading the update to support the new sets, the game will freeze at random moments. It is painful, as you have to manually shut off the system and wait for everything to load up again. Not to mention the lost game play. Ignoring that, the pack is fun and it is always nice to have new characters!
I loved the movie Fantastic Beasts, so this purchase was kind of a no brainer. One thing the story pack did very well was hit almost every plot point from the movie. However, there wasn't much extra. And that is my biggest problem with this pack, it was very underwhelming. Most of the dialogue was taken from the movie. The bad part about this is that much of the dialogue in the movie is very subdued and the actors show their emotions with body language. When the voice is coming out of a tiny plastic figure it comes off like they're trying to stay awake. All that being said, there was still a lot about this pack to enjoy, and walking around 1920s New York is good for a laugh or two.
