A small body with a big sound, and the perfect slightly short scale. There's just something precise and other worldly about it. For the first time, I'm not just practicing, I'm creating and entertaining myself with my own playing.

Beautiful, easy and fun to play. The action on this guitar is very nice. That's very important to me after having an expensive, bulky, high action dreadnought hanging on my wall neglected. I look forward to really learning the guitar now that I have an instrument that 'fits' me. I love the smaller body, concert size. I love the sound of this guitar. I love how easy it is to play. Yes, I'll say it again, it's BEAUTIFUL!

Got the turquoise colored (blue) because my grandson loves blue. He plays a "toy" guitar now. I will use this one until he wants to begin to learn chords (he is 7 years old). At that point the guitar will be his. Meanwhile I will play it and enjoy it. Much better guitar than the one I learned on 50 years ago.

This guitar just feels great and is easy to play. A grand auditorium with 25.5" scale was just too big and uncomfortable for me and a 3/4 dreadnought was too small. My FS820 feels perfect and the 25" scale is just right for me. The sound is great in my opinion. Note: Not necessarily made in China even though the sticker will say so. My serial number lookup states my Yamaha FS820 was made in Kaohsiung, taiwan.
Excellent guitar!! Better than expected! I was looking for a smaller guitar to play sitting around the house or take on vacation. While sitting on my porch a neighbor came over and asked to play it, and he blew my doors off with his playing on this FS 820! If your looking for a small body guitar, look no further! My neighbor said I got a steal for the price! No excuses not to practice now!
I was surprised by the quality of this guitar after adjusting the neck to my liking found the sound and resonance remarkable if this is what you get with yamaha at $700 then there more expensive ones most be amazing Anthony
I love my Yamaha FS820 Folk Guitar! I'm 5'3" so I really appreciate that the size of the guitar fits well for my body. Other larger guitars have been uncomfortable for my arm. The sound of this guitar is beautiful. Though you surrender just a little of the resonance in the body for the smaller size, I find the sound very warm and full all the same. It is great for strumming and singing as well as for finger picking. A great guitar!
First of all I ordered the guitar on Monday and received it on Thursday. That was really nice surprise. Second of all the guitar is excellent it sounds amazing. There is no damages cost by transport. Although the MS claims that guitars are tuned right before sending but mine wasn’t, that’s not big of a deal but you should know. Besides that I can easily recommend you that store. :)
The high E and B string were binding up at the nut and the action was high. It also needed the frets dressed and the rosewood lemon oiled as it was new out of the box. This may be things beginners don't notice and really all it needed was a good setup. It now is a great sounding and playing guitar with nice action, no buzzing and smooth. One of the best in this price range.
I received the above guitar but with hindsite, quickly realised it was the wrong guitar. I asked PMT to exchange it for a Yamaha APX600 instead, which I am very happy with now. In all honesty, I did not play the FS820, so can not give a proper review, however, I have heard the great tone of this guitar on many youtube videos. I am very happy with the APX600 which incidentally is great. Both guitars were delivered on time and well packaged and PMT were very good with letting me exchange. My review rate of 3 stars is for the FS820, however my review rate for the APX600 is 5 stars.
