Disappointed - stopped working after two years

I bought this TV in September 2022 and now it’s broken. I can’t access apps, can’t adjust volumes, can’t open home menu. I contacted Samsung support and had to reboot the remote and then tv and then remote and then the tv again, only to fix nothing. During this process I also realized I can’t enable remote management on my tv (how helpful). I may get it serviced but it’s probably not worth the money. When I spent 600 bucks on a TV I expected it to last much longer than two years. I don’t think I’ll buy from Samsung again. To be fair the picture quality and sound quality are great.

I've owned the 65" model for quite sometime now and have spent plenty of time testing out this TV's capabilities with everything from DVD vs Blu-ray vs 4k UHD to gaming and streaming with 24p, 30p, and 60p content. The best things I can tell you about this model (RU8000) is that game mode does in fact work excellent and the lower input lag is noticeable especially if you play online with fps games like I do. However with game mode enabled you will be making a big sacrifice to the picture quality as the resolution gets greatly reduced to achieve this. Personally this not a big deal to me because when I play online the graphics have never looked as supreme as the offline content anyway. However with game mode enabled you will be making a big sacrifice to the picture quality as the resolution gets greatly reduced to achieve this. Personally this not a big deal to me because when I play online the graphics have never looked as supreme as the offline content anyway. Additionally you turn off game mode during offline playing if you want and it will work just fine. Another great thing about this set is its ability to view 60p content. I'm a film collector and most film purists will tell you leave it running at 24p However I say to each their own. I prefer watching films in 60p as the picture seems to provide more depth between foreground and background images. In essence objects such as trees, buildings, peoples facial images etc. Will have a more volume or dimension and this in turn creates a more Immersive picture. I have no issues running both blu-rays and 4k films at 60p...for the most part. There have been a few occasions where I had an older film such as Thor (Blu-ray) where I had to turn this back down to 24p as the 60p higher frame rate caused the CG to look too artificial/cartoonish to me. Additionally if your streaming, most content should look fine in 60p but if you find a movie looking particularly odd you may need to drop it down to 30p or 24p. SO, everything is great from this TV in my opinion up until this point, 4K UHD HDR. As some have stated before the LEDS on this TV DO NOT get very bright. Now this is important factor, a very important factor as this is a major factor whe utilizing the HDR component of 4k HDR films. Matter of fact, I would argue, the TV's ability to produce HDR imagery is far more important than the sharper 4k resolution itself. HDR is THE component that is going to make the difference between your older LCD or non hdr 4K tv to what you be upgrading to. In nutshell, HDR IS the upgrade from old to the new. So, this does support HDR and my God does it look amazing when you can see it...when you can see it. What I mean by that is, because this TV can only get to about 380 Nits of brightness, some scenes in films can appear to dark...to see much of anything really. You can try to enable contrast enhancers or increase your gamma but in doing so your going to create some error. For example if you increase your gamma from st.2084 level 0 to level 2 you might be able to see more in dark scenes but others scenes may seem cloudy or washed out. Increasing contrast could help but some daylight scenes may seem overly bright. Unfortunately with this TV its something you'll have live with and get used to. I personally keep the gamma at 0 or 2 depending on the film and the contrast level high. You basically will need a TV that does about 800 - 1000 Nits for decent HDR. But if you a spectacular image you'll still need a good image processor as well. I've tried a cheaper TCL R617 once and Although it was a much brighter TV it had a terrible image processor and picture overall looked very cheap, with virtually every content I fed it. So I would take this TV over cheaper brands any day even it doesn't get as bright. It's not a bad TV overall but I give 3 stars for where it lacks. I intend to give this to my folks since they only stream and watch blu-rays and I will go with higher end Sony or Samsung.NOTE: I also forgot to mention Samsung does not support Dolby vision as well which in my experience does look better. HDR 10 = Good HDR, Dolby Vision = Superb HDR

I secured this during a Labor Day sale if I recall correctly, so I definitely got my moneys worth and then some. Though I would definitely make sure you have the room available depending on which size you get. This was just large enough to fit cleaning between two doorways without being in danger of impact.

I can SEE Again!!!

I can SEE Again! This 65" Samsung replaced our 32" in our Living room. Our old Entertainment center had doors that could only accommodate a 32" TV. In the pic you can see one of the doors as I had to chop up the old entertainment center and reattach the top so the 65" would fit. I HIGHLY recommend getting a swivel stand for this TV. It really helps as the tiny feet that come with this model are fairly useless... We do have a 55" Samsung that is 7 years old in the Master bedroom. The older, 55" Samsung's picture is MUCH sharper/colorful than this new, 65" SAMSUNG. Regardless, I can actually now READ/SEE the TV Cable guide, the score of games and where the football actually went so it's a HUGE improvement for our household;) I think my housemate, James is VERY happy that I can now read the score and see the guide. It's ot bad for a SAMSUNG budget TV. I may pay for better TV technology in the future but for now, this TV has been quite fun, even though not as clear/sharp as our older SAMSUNG. The remote is curved, comfortable, responsive and practical. Due to the increased TV size (almost home theater like) I realized I have been missing SO MANY smaller details in film and T.V. Now that I can see again, we purchased DISNEY, HBO-MAX, NETFLIX, etc. We LOVE our new, 65" SAMSUNG!!! Get a BIGGER TV, especially if you are older with failing sight and you won't be disappointed!!

Ran upon this during Best Buy's Anniversary sale and couldn't resist! At $599, it's almost as if one had to buy this on general principle.Television was delivered in perfect condition. With a friend, set-up was easy, taking only about 15 minutes from unboxing to being hoisted onto our TV stand. I just followed a video on posted on Best Buy which made the set up process not only easy but very intuitive. The initial set up was what one would expect from new modern devices. We have this in a relatively dim room used as an office/study, and the picture quality and color in movie mode was simply breathtaking--at least to me. While I'm certain one can tell the difference between this and a QLED when viewing side by side, I seriously doubt anyone could or would notice any difference if viewing this Series 8 LED in a room, and then the QLED in another.Initially, I had considered paying a little more for a QLED but glad I didn't after having watched this set for the past several days, especially in the room we have it in. Smart TVs have come a long way. Finally, a tip for setting this up for the first time. If you have Apple TV or Hulu (probably other Apps affected too but these were the only two I noticed before upgrading the Firmware) upgrade to the latest Firmware otherwise some Apps may not function properly and fully. Also, I noticed under the support section, sometimes the "update" is greyed out; in this case, an easy fix, that worked for me at least, is to go over to the "network" options and reselect or retest either the WiFi or Ethernet connection. The upgrade selection will no longer be greyed out and will become available.Great TV, and looking forward to enjoying it, especially in this current environment. The best part? At this price, it's having a fabulous big screen TV one can treat as disposable.

Lasted Barely Three Years and Died
8 October 2022

We only by Samsung TVs. We remodeled our finished basement back in 2019 and wanted to upgrade to a giant TV to hand on the wall. This TV had great reviews so we purchased. It worked great for just under 3 years and is now dead. Our other Samsung TVS that are 6+ years old and run a majority of the time still run. The issues we are having is the TV turns on and off every 5 seconds. It won't stay on long enough to try to get to settings a factory reset. I have done every troubleshooting step - unplugged, press the tv power, etc. and even talked to Samsung support who basically told me I am out of luck and should look at getting a new tv since Samsung has great deals all the time. Extremely disappointed that a tv at this price is useless.

I will be looking at a Sony or Toshiba TV, both of which I still have older models and they work great. Thought we'd take a chance on your product and truly disappointed.

The Nightmare

The picture screen is nice, no issues with the look. The programming is a complete and total nightmare. This is one of those TV's that you have to sign away your privacy rights in order to make all the functions work. Having done that the next obstacle is entering a UID (email address) and password. The on screen keyboard layout is a total mess, perhaps designed for some cyrillic language, its click, select and enter, change screen, then click again, then change screen, etc. etc.. Once you get by that if you are not getting just the free channels that come with it your TV (Samsung Plus) it won't like it, especially if you want it to be wireless. It's preference is using the Samsum Plus app, and if you erase that it will try to take over the function for your cable provider (ours is Comcast/Xfinity). Speaking of which, you will find you will have to constantly go on the Internet and re-enter your cable UID and password. Brings you back to the click and click. So once you are through with that if you bought the compatible soundbar you are in for another treat. If you don't install the woofer you can't balance all the sound in the soundbar, and if you don't have a hardwire connection it won't store the connection in its memory so every time you want to use the soundbar you get to re-Pair it. Sweet, a waste of time, you won't get your money's worth from your cable provider and spend a lot of time trying to run around things to make it work. Now if you just use Netflix, prime, or maybe are a gamer you may be set, But if you like watch a lot of channels, including international programs and the beautiful sounds (I remember,, sigh) this TV is not for you. BTW, we own 5 other smart TV's (different brands) for our rental units... no problems..

There was a little discount on this and we had a couple hundred dollars in rewards points to use so it made it a no brainer.Visually and functionally this TV is great! There is little to no input lag when using the remote which is something lesser quality TVs are plagued with. The visual are great, vibrant, and bright. The major issue, and I'm not sure why it does this, but this TV regularly drops it's internet connectivity when connected through wifi. Ive spent many hours trying to trouble shoot this. The tv has up-to-date firmware. I bought a new router and modem also. I initially only had the tv connected to the router and a day later had the same issue. Turn on the tv and no internet. At this point when you have no wifi to the tv you can can forget the saved wifi but reconnecting doesn't help. You can refresh the Mac and ip address turn off the tv but no matter what you do it will not connect. You have to physically unplug the tv then plug it back in and Voila it works for hours or maybe days until I needs to be unplugged again. Not sure if this just an issue with my set or if this is a known issue but it's very annoying.

Tv hasnt even last 4 years!

Was a great tv for a while! Until the thing took 5 minutes to turn on. Then 10 minutes, then 20 minutes, then 30 and now 3 HOURS. Each time you press the on button on the remote or on the actual tv it makes 3 squeaking noises and takes hundreds, thousands of presses to actually get the thing to turn on! I have tried absolutely everything to fix this and nothing Samsung have told me to do has helped. Starting to regret buying this tv because my "old" tv from a different brand had lasted much longer than this one! Ive had my old one for almoat 10 years now and never a single issue with it. Yet ive had this famous branded Samsung tv for not even 4 years and its gone to trash.
