Meta Quest Link Cable

Able to play while charging. Bought it with the purpose of be able to use it a link with my PC and play PC VR games. However an update to the device (QUEST 2) in September 2022 messed up with the cable link. No longer able to connect to my PC using the cable. BUT FEAR NOT! Quest launched an app - Virtual Desktop. It is NOT FREE, you can buy it at the oculus store, about $20. And it works very decently with connecting to your PC and play games from PC. The cable now I use it as an option to charge the VR while I play. I, personally, don’t like to charge while play - is uncomfortable - but if it the battery is too low and in the middle of a game with friends might as well (mostly charge and play while STATIONARY; I wouldn’t recommend to play games like beat saber with ... MoreAble to play while charging. This thing is a nearly $100 paperweight. Firstly, some of their things say they recommend this others say a normal long usbc cord. The Oculus link software itself is also absolutely atrocious. When trying to view your desktop, the display flickers, when it doesn't it refuses to register you clicking literally anything. Trying to hop into a vr game not loaded to your quest is a nightmare. Picture quality and frame rate when using it, are also awful. I have a AMD 6600 XT and an I7 processor VR ready Motherboard, so my computer is not the issue. If you are looking to connect your Quest to your desktop just buy Virtual Desktop. It is a fraction of the cost and runs and works 10000x better

This cable isn't cheap, but that's because it is fibre optic rather than copper, so it's super fast (copes with stupid frame rates!) and very light. It's long enough to cope with some pretty big movements, too. You might want to invest in a ceiling suspension system to take full advantage.Being fibre, it coils nicely when not in use. It has a strap which can be used to either fasten the coil when not in use, or to secure the cable to the Oculus headset.Some things that you should be aware of when setting up the link for the first time:• The cable MUST be plugged directly into the side of the Oculus 2 headset. My own computer's USB port was able to maintain the battery charge for over 4 hours, but I have heard that not all ports are powerful enough to do so.• I found that plugging the cable directly into the motherboard's USB C port gave the best results. I wouldn't go back to a cheaper,, heavier, non-fibre cable.
