It can be temporarily disabled but not permanently disabled. It is as weird as it sounds. Come on LG, give a way to turn that "cursor" off for good.It feels gimmicky and takes a half a star away from what is otherwise an excellent value Smart TV. I just picked up a 65" Sony Bravia from Best Buy as well and that TV is amazing as one would expect, but the biggest difference from that TV to this beyond the price and the size are that with the Sony - the picture is pretty much set right out of the box. With the LG, I had to watch a couple of YouTube videos and read 2 articles to get the maximum out of the LG. I love this TV tho so it is hard to find fault with this set. I also got the 5 year Geek Squad just in case this TV gives up the ghost like my previous TV (a 3 year old Insignia 55" which this TV leaves in the dust for roughly the same price). If you want a great TV and don't want to pay SONY prices and you are comfortable "tuning" the picture up to suit you, do not hesitate to purchase this TV.

God help you, if you buy this TV!

I'd love to throw that thing right out the window but I'm keeping it because after all I had to go through to get this thing to work right, and you can't even read the instructions because the print is so tiny and it's a light gray, it is totally unbelievable. I can't even read the menu! And the pointer, when you want to change a function, is so darn sensitive and shaky, you could just pull your hair out. The menu on the TV is so hard to read and so small, I just give up. Good TV, a little quirky

Overall fine. I couldn't get the HDMI-2's ARC/eARC working (tried multiple receiver/adapters), yet turning on ARC turns off the TV speakers (so there was no option to ARC as a backup/optional sound system; have to commit to one or the other - even if ARC works). So opting for Bluetooth to sound system: There are a few rounds of struggles getting the "sound sync" (audio delays) coordinated, as the LG menus don't clearly discern between the INTERNAL speaker audio delay, vs. the BLUETOOTH transmission's audio delay... and both of these update when you reset HDMI ports, and there's no option to scroll delays forward or back (to coordinate with video that's BEHIND the audio), so... this all takes a few rounds. And then, when you get things all set: Turning OFF the TV now disconnects the TV from the Bluetooth speakers (of course), and... when turning ON the TV... the television doesn't automatically RECONNECT to the bluetooth speakers. So... you have to manually (or quicker: Voice command) reconnect bluetooth speakers, each time you turn on your TV.AND: The TV ships with "Eco" setting on screen (so screen is dim, and you have to navigate menus to find how to turn that off).AND: The default "home" screen is a cluster of clutter and promos... (Some of which obscure the MENU offering of "Do you want to turn on your Cable Box? Yes, No?" - so you can't even ANSWER that question). So, you have to find your way through the menu system to STOP the "Home" screen from defaulting as the initial turn-on flash screen (with a screen full of ads and "Trending" and a bunch of other nonsensical promos). But, other than (and after) those hassles... the TV is fine; does what it says. The picture quality, built-in speaker quality, build quality, magic remote, and LG ThinQ coordination makes LG TVs optimal, IMO.

Great TV, but no subtitle button on remote.
27 October 2021

This is a great TV, it's my first smart one so I can't compare to other brands. It was easy to set up out of the box, you just screw the crescent shape stand to the back & away you go. The TV found it's channels easily (mines running on the satellite feed), & using your smart phone you can get all the catch up apps synced together with your other devices. The picture is good & the sound is also quite impressive. I doubt you would need a sound-bar but it might depend on personal preference. My only criticisms are related to the magic remote & lack of a subtitle button.I'm hearing impaired & need the captions most of the time, but like to switch them off for live broadcasts as the subtitles can easily get confused when people are talking live. But here's the thing ... MoreThis is a great TV, it's my first smart one so I can't compare to other brands. It was easy to set up out of the box, you just screw the crescent shape stand to the back & away you go. This would be ok, if you could set a shortcut but these only work for apps, not menu items. To add fuel to my rage the remote has added buttons for Disney+ & other apps which you can easily set a shortcut for, so the bespoke buttons are kind of pointless! The other issue with the magic remote is that the different apps use it differently. For example on channel 5 & Youtube you can use the pointer (so you use it like a mouse), which is great. However on BBC Iplayer & ITV, the pointer is not available so you use the collar (a ring around the centre button which works like a curser). Both these features are great on their own but it becomes confusing when hopping from app to app.I appreciate that the subtitles button is not an issue for everyone, but It's 2021 & I feel it's unforgiveable to not have a this button as standard. Otherwise it's a very good TV & well worth the money.

I will never buy anything from LG

TV was expensive for this class, it has sound issues, but has been working ok. However I will never buy anything from LG! We made a big mistake and purchased an LG refrigerator. In summery; our refrigerator has been repaired so many times I have lost count. Compressor twice or three times, ice maker 2 times, the freezer grill, and the main board and another board. We were without refrigerator for over 30 days, in mid-summer south Texas, they agreed to pay for food loss and then they did not. It is acting up again, the ice maker makes too much ice and end up on the floor, and refrigerator side dips into 30’s. So I called, but I have to deal with one the worst and discourteous call center, and I am not getting runaround.I think Mr. Park is joke, the call center reps ... MoreTV was expensive for this class, it has sound issues, but has been working ok. Having this TV for a month and a half, I fell like I can now review it. The first thing you will want to do is go into settings, then go to support, then under energy savings, and turn off Eco mode. This will allow you to make personal adjustments to the picture. With Eco mode on, you will be restricted. Also in settings go to Al service and turn off brightness setting, which adjust the backlight according to the room brightness. Playing with the different picture settings for a month and trying to calibrate it for the best picture, this is a very cool temperature panel. I recommend using only standard or cinema picture settings. Standard has the temperature at cold at 50 percent so I would slide it down to 0 percent or warm 50 percent. I recommend using only standard or cinema picture settings. Standard has the temperature at cold at 50 percent so I would slide it down to 0 percent or warm 50 percent. Cinema mode has the temperature at warm 50 percent as a standard which is a more accurate picture. This TV having a lower contrast ratio, it does suffer a little in dark scenes, but is very bright in everything else even with the panel brightness (backlight) at 50 percent. I never like having the backlight higher than half anyway so this is good. I tend to leave the contrast at 80-85, but not higher than 90, then the bright images look washed out. Using standard or cinema mode with these picture settings under advanced settings; Panel brightness-50, Contrast-80-85 or 90, Screen brightness-50, Auto dynamic contrast- OFF, Gamma- 2.2, Black level- Auto or Limited. Under Colour; Color depth- 45, Tint- 0 percent, Colour Gammet- Auto. Under Fine Tune; Colour Upgrade- OFF. Under White Balance; Temperature- 0 or Warm 50 Percent. Under Clarity; Sharpness- 10 percent, (everything else under clarity should be OFF) Film makers mode and Reduce Blue Light- OFFAlso on this particular TV in bright scenes such as the snow during the winter olympics, you can see the vertical rows of the backlight. I counted seven rows from the direct backlight. The attached photo shows the backlight bleed a little. It only shows in bright scenes. Its not critical but if you are really paying attention, you'll definitely notice it.Overall this is an OK TV. This is not designed for critical watching. For occasional TV shows or movies, this is more than adequate. It gets the job done for a good price.

Mostly OK
3 December 2021

This is mostly an OK TV, but I do have a few problems. The first is the Magic Remote which is activated by the scroll button that replaced the Okay button. Unfortunately, I have tremors in both my hands and the cursor jumps all over the screen if activated. It is activated very easily by touching the scroll button. I have not found a way to permanently turn off this "feature" and when asked support about purchasing a different remote control I was referred to a company that sold the TVs but no remotes. I am now in the process of purchasing a universal remote which I hope works with enough of the features to make it possible to watch TV leisurely. The second problem is the voice remote. I do not like voice activated controls, I am old-fashioned and like my hardware ... MoreThis is mostly an OK TV, but I do have a few problems. I am now in the process of purchasing a universal remote which I hope works with enough of the features to make it possible to watch TV leisurely. The second problem is the voice remote. I do not like voice activated controls, I am old-fashioned and like my hardware to be run by my fingers. I cannot locate in the manual or anywhere else a way to disconnect the voice activation system, which I am able to disable on other items of mine. Third problem is the manual/LG Control Store and the Home Page. On the home page are numerous apps that I will never use. The ones I use I have to scroll through many other apps to get to those apps everyday. I was told by support that I can order them or delete apps I do not use by updating them in the LG Control Store. I cannot locate the LG Control Store anywhere in or outside of the User Manual. Searches bring up nothing or results that are not even closely related to my search. On my laptop or my phone I just have to swipe them off the page to delete them and drag them to rearrange them, why is it so difficult to manage apps on my TV. New "features" are wonderful for those who like them, but they are a nightmare to those people that do not want them. I guess I shouldn't complain as this is better than what I had, but I truly believe this was a waste of money and I will not replace any of my existing electronics with LG in the future and I definitely will not buy anything else LG .

Nice to look at, but that's about it.

This TV came in a new home I purchased. The first day I started to watch it, the HDMI inputs all stopped working. Tried hard resets, different cables, different devices, different power outlets. All to the same effect - no HDMI. Decided to leave it be and just watch a show through the built in apps. About 45 minutes into the movie, the audio cut out. Tried multiple inputs, multiple shows, multiple apps, etc., and still have no audio. I called LG support a few times, and was told that because the TV manufacture date was more than one year ago, I was out of warranty and thus out of luck. It's my second time being burned by LG (word choice intentional here - my other TV has awful burn in, and while LG extended the warranty to 4 years on them, they didn't notify ... MoreThis TV came in a new home I purchased. Shocker - LG told me I was out of luck). I think the moral here is that LG makes really great looking products, but if you're expecting longevity, reliability, or support, I have a bridge to sell you. In short, never again, and I hope this review is actually visible so that others don't have to deal with LG as I have.

We must have bought the dodgy unit
21 January 2023

We've only had this TV for 15 months and already having issues. Was watching TV and suddenly the picture disappeared. Sound is still on but no picture. Also, wifi connection keeps dropping, although we have no issus with the wifi on our other devices. Have tried all the trouble shooting suggestions to no avail. Have contacted LG and the closest technician is 160+ km away so they need permission first from management before they can proceed with request. No physical damage to the TV and no other devices physically connected to the TV that may be causing the fault/issue. Our other LG TV that I purchased 15 years ago is still going strong hence why we thought we would stick with LG but not even 2 years with this new one and already its faulty.
