TV worked really good for about two weeks then started having streaming dropout. Had to restart the streaming app. All apps that I tried were affected. Power cycled the tv several times and for some reason it reduced but not eliminated the streaming drops. It still is happening. Very annoying. Also the pointer option on the remote sucks. Very hard to control. Would like to add a headphone set to the audio but cannot get Bluetooth and tv speakers to operate volume separately. To make that happen it looks like I need an optical conversion kit. Not fair to be punished like this for buying your tv. I gave three stars because the good quality picture.Nothing to do with the product but having to be forced to search for my model number using an unsorted list is childish. ... MoreTV worked really good for about two weeks then started having streaming dropout. **To preface this, there is a technician on the way and I may just have a lemon.** I bought this TV online and received it in perfect condition. I set it up and everything went smoothly. Great interface and awesome remote! It has only been used for streaming, which has been great. The audio volume is quite loud and the quality is what you can expect from a flat panel TV. It was used for maybe 150~ hrs. The TV put itself in "screensaver mode" where it will show a clock on a black background and then went black. I pressed the home button and no change. I powered it off, gave it 30 seconds and powered it back on. No LG boot logo. I can hear the static, but the screen is black. Powered the TV down, unplugged it for 24 hrs. Same result. This is the absolute worst timing. I will update once the technician has done their thing.

Use mostly to watch Netflix and some other streaming services or DVD movies. No OTA service in our remote area and cable is a joke, 1000 channels and nothing worth watching.

Font Sizes Too Small
24 March 2022

Reasonable happy with the LG 50UP80000 with regards to picture, audio and other features considering it's a basic entry-level TV with a good price. But extremely disappointed with the small font sizes in the dialogue boxes that provide programme information and guides. Trying to read it from a distance of about three metres is really difficult to the point where eyes become strained. The TV was purchased for the bedroom and the 50 inch was the largest one that fitted the available wall space. Thought there may have been a feature to adjust font sizes, but not the case. I know that software update are regularly released - maybe the next release could incorporate increased font sizes. FYI, purchased the 55 inch version for another room a week or so after, but now have ... MoreReasonable happy with the LG 50UP80000 with regards to picture, audio and other features considering it's a basic entry-level TV with a good price. Great TV with Useful Features !
17 November 2022

I got this television around March of this year and I have to say that I truly love it ! It was an easy set up, the screen & picture is very good quality and clear. The volume is loud enough and the features to have apps such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, etc. is so useful. I’m one of those people who stream more than anything so I use my apps the most. The only complaint I have is that the remote control has no lighting. In the dark, it is difficult to see the buttons . I have to use my phone flashlight to look at the buttons . Other than that, everything about the actual television, I have no complaints.

Great TV, but frustrating.
10 December 2021

We bought the 55" version of this TV, but my wife thought it was too big for the space. We have a larger TV in another room, so we downsized to the 50". It looks great and is appropriate for the space. We had our previous TV hooked up to our home sound system through the cable box and everything worked great. The new TV had a latency issue with the cable box, so I purchased an HDMI to analog audio interface. I could not get any audio to pass through the HDMI pass-through, so I went and bought the optical to analog adapter. It has been working intermittently. When it does work, it is great. When it doesn't work it is very frustrating. There should be a way to get the audio outs to interface with home audio equipment. The other issue I have encountered is with the ... MoreWe bought the 55" version of this TV, but my wife thought it was too big for the space. When it doesn't work it is very frustrating. There should be a way to get the audio outs to interface with home audio equipment. The other issue I have encountered is with the remote. I would like to be able to turn on the TV, change channels, and adjust the volume of the TV through my cable remote. If we want to use the smart TV functions, then I would use the TV specific remote. It seems like when I try to pair the cable remote to the TV, it works for a few seconds and then the TV takes over and doesn't allow me to access the volume control of the TV. So, we have a cable remote to turn on the cable and TV, the TV remote to control the volume and smart TV functions, and a stereo remote (or physical access) to control the home audio system.

Great features on this 50" LG

Purchased this for living room main TV and glad I did. The colors are vibrant and crisp. The apps that can be downloaded are great, one being fioptics app for new cincinnati bell fioptics service. One feature I really like is that I have Blue Tooth Hearing Aids and this tv having Blue tooth, allows me to connect directly to TV, where before I had to use a device that used optical cable into a Blue tooth box that then connected to my hearing aids. The magic pointer is handy especially to save typing in passwords for apps and picking from menus. I have always had good results sticking with LG over another name brand.

Great television and data collector

Great TV. My first smart TV - worked straight out of the box with little set-up required. Great picture and as far as I am concerned sound is fine despite common complaints of modern flat screens.Minor issie is the settings menus. Elegant in appearance but over the place - looks like iOS but acts like Windows. Some accessed through the settings button, others the home screen. And after changing some settings only way to go back is exit and return to menu/s.Would give it 5 stars if it was not for the reduced functionality if you don't agree to handover every bit of information it can collect on you. Not unique to LG or even smart TVs but doesn't mean it's right.

Pluses and Not So Much

One month of using the TV finally taught me most of what I needed to learn about managing it. But such is life in this day of numerous features. Overall the TV delivers. But here are some easy and cheap improvements I would welcome.1. Not clear why not have a connector for external speakers/headphones? I have several wireless high quality speaker and earphones which are NOT bluetooth. Is it below the pride of LG engineers to let users continue enjoying what they already own?2. There is the promise of TWO bluetooth devices operatable at once. However, my relatively expensive bluetooth Sennheizer headphones are somehow not connectable with this TV (no such problems with all the other bluetooth equipment I have).Other issues are minor and not worth mentioning. ... MoreOne month of using the TV finally taught me most of what I needed to learn about managing it. Poor product quality, lack of warranty assistance
1 June 2023

I received the tv as a Christmas gift in 2021.The Magic Remote quit working within 6 months, now the tv only turns on intermittently and the red light at the bottom of the screen doesn’t come on.As I said I received the tv as a gift and do not have a receipt. The manufacture date was August of 2020 so the tv is still within the two year warranty period. When I called to ask for warranty service I was declined assistance because I did not have a receipt.I’m remain frustrated with the poor product quality and lack of warranty service when requested.
