I loved the full-size version of the MX Keys and I bought this one because I wanted something more portable to bring to the office. Before I continue, please note that I do love this keyboard. The feel of the switches, the quality of the aluminium chassis, and the Options+ software all make this keyboard great to work with. My issue comes from the fact that the original just had a better layout for the keys.If I were to change this to be the perfect keyboard I would:1) Move the FN key from the left to the right side of the keyboard just like the original MX Keys; making CTRL, ALT, and START keys on the left full size.2) Make the chassis slightly wider so that an additional row of keys can be on the right side. By doing this, you can create full sized arrow keys ... MoreI loved the full-size version of the MX Keys and I bought this one because I wanted something more portable to bring to the office. Before I continue, please note that I do love this keyboard. This would also give us 5 additional keys for dedicated for DEL (with the original DEL now an INS), HOME, END, PGUP, and PGDN

I purchased this keyboard because it has backlit keys. I often use my IMac late at night under low light conditions and this product makes it so much easier to see what I’m typing. It’s slightly larger than the keypad that Apple supplies with its computers which is actually a plus in my opinion. It’s more ergonomic and makes using it more comfortable. Easy to set up and use. It can pair with up to 3 computers in the house including an Ipad with just the touch of a button. It’s missing a couple of function keys on the board specifically the screen brightness buttons which control how bright your screen is. Not a big deal because that can also be changed in settings. I purchased the grey keyboard and the only short coming that I’ve noticed is the keyboard washes out in full lighting conditions if the back light is left turned on. Meaning I can’t see the letters on the keys unless I turn the back light off. Most likely do to the light color of the keys themselves. Not a big deal just turn it off. At night these keys stand out. The black keyboard may solve the problem but I still prefer the grey. Other then this it operates exactly like the factory original. I would definitely recommend purchasing this product.

The MX Mini is a fantastic feeling keyboard that takes up a small amount of space and is great on the eyes. Touching the keys feels amazing and it's a great typing experience ... when it works. To keep the review short, the issue is this keyboard is blu-tooth ONLY. You CANNOT data transfer via the cable provided (only charge) and this means you are going to experience latency on the keys. If you play games that require fast key response timings or you're a very fast typer, I cannot recommend this keyboard. You will often times experience random bouts of intense key latency, sometimes it randomly puts itself to sleep and takes a second or two to wake up, sometimes other blu-tooth devices can interfere with the signal, and more often than I'd like, the keyboard just ... MoreThe MX Mini is a fantastic feeling keyboard that takes up a small amount of space and is great on the eyes. I have been a long-time Logitech peripheral fan - in fact I would go as far as to say I wouldn't use anything else for my Mac / MacBook on a daily basis. The MX Keys Mini is a solid Logitech keyboard as you would expect, including some of the things that the Apple native keyboards are missing like an intelligent backlight, and the ability to hot-switch between multiple paired devices. In terms of operations, the scissor action is (in my opinion) superior to the default Apple variants, and it generally feels more robust and the kind of thing you could throw in a backpack and not worry about it. (which as this is designed to be used with iPads as well as Macs, is something that a lot of people might do).So why only 3 stars? (which as this is designed to be used with iPads as well as Macs, is something that a lot of people might do).So why only 3 stars? Well firstly the most confusing part, connectivity;1) If you're an existing Logitech fan you know that you can pair with devices via Bluetooth , or using a Logitech unifying receiver (basically a USB dongle) to avoid any issues with OS features like Filevault (which prevents bluetooth peripherals being used on first boot).. In the past if you purchase an MX Keys for Mac they come with a unifying receiver - the MX Keys mini does not come with anything other than a USB-C charging cable , and now here's the kicker.- Yes, you can still pair it via Bluetooth. No problems.- No, you can NOT pair it to an existing Logitech unifying receiver- Yes, you can pair it with the newly announced Logitech Bolt which although not provided, will also not work with any previous MX products, unless you purchased the 'business' variant of the device.2) Secondary is a personal , cosmetic issue - but it does impact the usability. If you purchase the pale gray variant, the keys are white and the letters are visible with grey letters. As soon as the backlight kicks in, the letters are...welll... the same colors as the keys so you can't really read them. The simple solution here is to set the backlight as low as possible, so its only really effective in completely dark rooms - or just but the keyboard in the space grey color. (on the grey keyboard the keys are black and the letters are white, so backlighting doesn't affect readability)For now I won't be able to use this as my main keyboard for these 2 reasons - I'm going to use it on my secondary computer which will benefit from the backlight in a darker room in the house, but I'll be keeping my existing MX Keys for Mac as my everyday keyboard. If you got this far, remember - this keyboard works with the new Logitech Bolt , but all other MX products have to be the 'Business' variant of the product line. If you need to get around FileVault, this is a pretty big issue Mac users need to be aware of before you purchase co-dependent peripherals.I received this product as part of a technical evaluation exercise - although all opinions expressed here are my own based on my experiences using the product myself.
The Logitech MX Keys Mini for Mac is likely the keyboard that should have come with my Mac.Keyboards come in all shapes and sizes these days, from budget to top dollar and from soft, lifeless keys to mechanical keys that provide a tactile feel. Working from home and spending a lot of time on the keyboard, I have quite the collection of keyboards and the Logitech MX series is among my favorite. What I like about the MX Mini is it is designed for the Mac - it has all the Mac specific keys that come standard on your Mac - a lot of aftermarket keyboards are Windows centric and do not put the Mac keys where you naturally expect them to be.The feel of this keyboard is superb for a non-mechanical keyboard. Typing is almost silent, yet the keys provide a nice tactile feel. The keys have indents for your fingertips that ensure you are centered on each key without having to look. I immediately became used to this and look for this on my other keyboards. This keyboard is also VERY solid. It's a bit heavier than I would have expected for it's size, but in a good way - It oozes quality. Another thing I like is that the keyboard does not have large gaps around the keys. Let's be honest - we all tend to have a snack at our desk once in a while, and keyboards can get disgusting with dirt and crumbs that make their way in-between the keys - the design of this keyboard significantly reduces this because the gap between each key and the frame is quite small. Finally - and probably my favorite feature of this keyboard is that it has 3 "slots" to remember different devices and you can switch on the fly. Being an Apple person, I have an iMac as well as a Mac Book Pro, an iPhone, and an iPad. I can pair this keyboard to the iMac, and my MBP, and iPad and switch the input to each of those devices by simply pressing one of the three function keys in the upper left. I frequently work on my iMac and my MBP at the same time, and switching the input between the two is as easy as tapping the appropriate button on the keyboard.Connectivity is rock solid - I've never had an issue with the connection, and the charge on this keyboard lasts for a long time. I didn't gauge it, but it's well upward of a week - if not longer. The keyboard is compact enough that you can travel with it as well.Overall, if you're looking for a compact replacement keyboard for your iMac, a keyboard to use with your Mac mini, MBA, MBP, or iPad - give this one strong consideration.
I've used the MX keys (not mini) for a couple years and just love it. But since I don't use the extra numeric keys I wanted something more sleek looking and portable so I could carry it with me to work or on trips when I felt like it. And also I wanted upgraded security that the new wireless protocol offers, and more importantly more reliability. I've had intermittent issues with the older wireless USB receivers over the years, where it would sometimes miss mouse movements and keyboard input, which in my case was often due to 2.4GHz WiFi interference. I'm a linux only user, and the keyboard works great with it. I found open source linux software "solaar" that allows me to make all the modifications (like turning off the backlight) that you cannot readily make with ... MoreI've used the MX keys (not mini) for a couple years and just love it. I've had intermittent issues with the older wireless USB receivers over the years, where it would sometimes miss mouse movements and keyboard input, which in my case was often due to 2.4GHz WiFi interference. I'm a linux only user, and the keyboard works great with it. I found open source linux software "solaar" that allows me to make all the modifications (like turning off the backlight) that you cannot readily make with the keyboard, unlike the Mx keys. Overall the comfort of the keyboard is comparable to MX keys, so am totally pleased with that. Now the caveats:So Caveat #1: Bolt receiver did help completely avoid interference as I had hoped according to their marketing. I still need to keep the Bolt dongle in line sight view no more than 2 feet away to avoid. caveat #2. It's highly irritating that the companion bolt mouse is available through business channels only. The current companion mouse sold in retail channels only uses the older receiver if you want to use a USB receiver (instead of direct BT pairing), and it still uses USB-mini for charging in year 2022. I prefer all my new devices just be USB-c only to help reduce the number of different wires/charges. I did manage to find one place online that would sell me the business version of this mouse that is bolt compatible and has usb-c but I suspect that company is not really supposed to sell to non-business. Caveat #3 The MX keys has a companion wrist pad that is just right for the size of the keyboard and looks sleek, but this one does not. #3 is my biggest gripe at the moment. If Logi can address these things, I feel this keyboard should be close to solid 5 star average.
I'm a long-time fan of Logitech peripherals, and I've owned MANY of them. My current setup utilizes the MX Master 3 (my third Master mouse) and the MX Keys for Mac--both of which are wonderful everyday drivers for work and personal endeavors. If you're familiar with the MX Keys for Mac or the Logitech Craft keyboard, you will automatically be familiar with the MX Keys Mini for Mac, which shares feature elements while eliminating the number pad and function keys present on full-sized keyboards. Adjustable backlighting (which helps to increase battery life), minimalist design, and multi-device connectivity are familiar features here.Aside from poor battery life, I've never really given a negative review of Logitech peripherals, and the former has improved greatly over the last few years. Likewise, the MX Keys Mini for Mac does a lot of things really, really well--and at a compact size. That compact size enables you to bring this with you, if you so desire, when working on-the-move with your iPad (or iPhone, for that matter). This keyboard looks great, it sounds great, but it has a few things that left me scratching my head. These "head scratchers" are thanks to the reduced footprint, meaning some of the functionality you would find in the full-sized MX Keys gets left out or moved here. For starters, the keys to switch between devices are reserved for the F1, F2 and F3 keys--and while you can always use function lock, I find that putting as a "primary" function on these keys a feature that is secondary in nature doesn't make much logical sense. In the place of the F4 and F5 keys are brightness controls for the keyboard backlighting. Again, this is a secondary feature at best, and could have been placed as function-capabilities on the arrow keys instead. Moving these to the arrow keys would free up space for additional function-row keys (more on that later).F6 is a dictation key--and while I don't use dictation often on my ipad, I could see this as a reasonable addition.Let's talk about F7--the "emjoi" key. I use emojis just as much as the next person, but honestly--a dedicated key in the function row? There are times that I wonder about how we've degraded as a society when it comes to communication, and centuries from now I wonder if the history books will point to emojis as the start of that degradation. This one really bothers me.F8 is a dedicated screenshot key, which is fine but probably a bit unnecessary (I want to believe that most Mac users are aware of Cmd+Shift+3/4/5).F9 is a mic mute key--this is another great addition in a post-pandemic world.F10 is the only media control key on the keyboard (excluding volume control), and it is a play/pause key. There is no track forward or back as on the larger MX Keys keyboard, and this is a big miss on the MX Keys Mini. There are plenty of aforementioned keys that could have been moved or excluded to add this in, and for whatever reason, this lack of media control really bothers me.The upper-right most key has Do Not Disturb as its primary function, and Lock as its secondary function. I recognize this is probably a result of the huge improvements in Do Not Disturb in recent macOS and iPadOS versions, but I think those should be switched--where lock is the primary function. Then again, that gives me pause as this key sits above the delete key, so accidental key presses locking your computer might be annoying. The MX Keys Mini for Mac is $99, the same price as the MX Keys for Mac. This is perplexing, as the Mini gives you less functionality (technically speaking) yet costs the same. But like I said before, I generally don't give negative reviews of Logitech peripherals --and the Mini, despite its design shortcomings (namely, the function row), is no different. It gives the same pleasant typing experience as any other MX keyboards in a smaller footprint. And, the buttons can be reprogrammed using the Logitech Options software, which helps a great deal.
I'm coming from an older full-sized Logitech keyboard. I wanted to get a keyboard that was a little more ergonomic, since I never used the numeric keypad and my mouse hand was usually angled pretty far right. It took a few days to get used to the size of this keyboard, but I really like it. The keys feel pretty nice when pressed, and they have a nice, but short travel feel to me. I turned the backlighting off, since I don't really care about it, and the battery is lasting a very long time for me. The keyboard also feels pretty "solid" and has a pretty nice premium feel.My biggest gripe is that it doesn't work super well with my MacBook Pro when connected via Bluetooth. It works great with the Bolt Receiver, but it's a ridiculous extra cost and the receiver should be included with the keyboard like the older Logitech wireless products. Also, Logi Options+ should really be able to update the keyboard through the receiver and not only when the keyboard is connected via Bluetooth.

These are the least used actions. Not to mention that there is a native shortcut for emoji in Windows.I don't understand why Logitech decided to ruin such a great keyboard idea with a terrible decision for absolutely terrible keycaps that just not suitable for Windows experience. Offer a dedicated Windows keyboard or supply the keyboard with 4 replaceable keycaps for Start, Alt Left, Alt Right, and Ctrl Right. Mac's prominent marking kills the experience.
I thought I'd try this keyboard because of the size. I never used the number keypad on the right so why bother with it?I've had this keyboard for a while and over all it works great. Nicely, the usb port is the same as on my wireless logitech head phones so I just alternate using the charger occasionally and haven't had an issue with either's charges. It was easy to reprogram the print key to use my SnagIt app - that was a concern I had that I could continue to use it on the print key.I find the F numbers too small and dim to see easily which I want. Seriously thinking of taking a silver sharpie and making a little mark on the F12. :-)Obviously the more I use it, the more I get used to the layout and and ctrl, alt keys. a gazillion years of typing on a standard keyboard is hard to break.Overall thought, it is a nice compact keyboard with a good feel to the keys. It takes up very little space on the desktop. The keys are backlit so it does make it easier to see where the special keys are. I don't use some of the special media keys - my headphone mutes automatically when I flip the mic up and usually I would just mute a video with the mute on the screen. I'm not even sure what the keys over F1, F2 and F3 do. If you are someone that has a lot of use for media buttons, you will find them much more useful than me.I also use a PC and have always had a PC keyboard. having opt|start on one key and cmd|alt on another is difficult for me trying to find the key combination I want.It may sound like like I don't like the keyboard -- actually I do like it. Just pointing out the issues I have with getting adjusted to it. Others may adapt much more quickly than I did.
