Upgraded from the scarlet range for the added I/O and preamp circuits. Was well worth the investment. The relatively short user manual gets you up and running quickly and I've found zero problems with the software/hardware communication. The unit itself is solidly constructed and sounds amazing. Perfect for larger I/O requirements such as multitracking or inserting outboard hardware. Very solid investment for a studio centrepiece.

I've been using it for about a month, and I'm thrilled.Very low latency. Tthe pres are top notch-the "air" feature adds a great transformer-style vibe. They sound fantastic for vox, gtr, bass etc. very clean to patch outboard through as well (I prefer "air" to bypassing pres for line in).I replaced an apollo quad tb2 black with this and couldn't be happier with the cash that went into my pocket for one second then back out into purchases hahahaI use a Dangerous Audio Source for D/A but the D/A sounds quite good from the Clarett–source definitely has more depth of field and smoother HF response, as expected.I've owned all kinds of interfaces/converters–RME UCX, BLA modded ones, Lynx Aurora, Crane Song Hedd, Apogee Symphony 16 mk I, and this one is by far the ... MoreI've been using it for about a month, and I'm thrilled.Very low latency. I bought this thing last November and I love it! It's definitely a great upgrade from the Scarlett interfaces! the preamps on the Clarett+ sounds much better than the Scarlett range interfaces and AD/DA conversion is much better! Also It's very easy to register and set up!

Focusrite always delivers great products and great service if there are any technical issues. When I first received my Clarett 8pre I had clicking and popping interference but Focusrite has live chat on their website and a rep sent me all the links/downloads to fix the issue. This is a great home or pro studio interface. Focusrite just released the Clarett Octopre for additional inputs too! SamAsh delivered the product quickly & in good order. No complaints! Very satisfied!!
I'm surprised how good this interface actually sounds. The preamps are really great! In this price range you won't get any better. The "air" function is something that gives you clarity in middle and higher frequencies and it is great for vocal, acoustic guitar, high hat and cymbals. I still need to buy clarett octo pre and connect it to my 8pre and can record bend without fear of bad sound. Great job Focusrite!
I am pairing this unit up with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 to get 18 analog ins. Everything works great! The Clarett Octopre sounds fantastic and I am able to insert all my external preamps to the back of the Octopre for the best sound quality. Overall, I am very satisfy with the unit.
I have been using Focusrite interfaces on Windows since 2016. I had tried a couple Presonus units, and the drivers where a mess. I bought the 18i20 2nd gen Scarlett in 2016, and never looked back.I have now upgraded that 18i20 to the Clarett 8pre, and I am mad at myself for not doing it sooner. The drivers have been rock solid for me the last 3 weeks with hours of use, and the pre amps are AMAZING! I am hearing details in my studio monitors I have never picked up on before. When i was running the 18i20 on my system, I could get the buffer down to about 32 for tracking, and I would have to bump it to 64 for lite mixing sessions. I have the Clarett 8pre connected to my system via USB-C, and my buffer settings are at the lowest with 16. I have yet to had to bump ... MoreI have been using Focusrite interfaces on Windows since 2016. I had tried a couple Presonus units, and the drivers where a mess. I have the Clarett 8pre connected to my system via USB-C, and my buffer settings are at the lowest with 16. I have yet to had to bump that buffer setting up at all.I don't do a lot of mixing, but I do a lot of tracking and basic mixes for reference tracks and video productions. This unit has been amazing. I am running with with Reaper as my DAW and Vegas Pro 17 for my video editor. My PC is running the AMD Ryzen 16 core 3950x, 32 gigs of Trident Z G.Skill ram, and 3 M.2 SSD drives - all 2TB with PCIe 4.0 protocols. This Clarett has been amazing!I also purchases the 4pre for my laptop to go along with the 8pre, and the results have been the same on both units!
Thunderbolt power for an audio interface? Yes please! As you may expect, the latency is almost non-existent, and if you were used to latency in the past, you'll begin swearing that the interface is an esper. The mic pre is the acclaimed pres from Focusrite, so expect consistency. A great aspect with this interface and company in general is how on the ball they are with OS updates and drivers to ensure minimal downtime. Feel free to max out your sample rate and choose the lowest latency, cpu permitting. This thing is a beast, and the price for the amount of ins/outs is unreal.
Its early days but on initial set up Clarett 8pre usb works well. Seems a V.good sound for the price.Found the Focusrite control software a tad confusing at first - every mixer I have ever used works inputs on the left outputs on the right - but not this one - but great simple layout once I got that ! Mixer has lost connection once for no reason, hope thats a one off.
Very easy to set up and use with my M1 Mac. The preamps are nice and clean, monitoring system was easy to set up and get working almost immediately. The Focusrite software is intuitive and self explanatory. I was THRILLED that I could create a custom mix for direct monitoring without having to open up a DAW. That makes guitar practice really easy.
