The color range in the light medium for more olive complexion is a challenge. This is a high end foundation and the price reflects that. The foundation does come in a luxurious slightly frosted glass bottle. There is no pump, but you can purchase one for $10. It is reusable and sometimes you can get a pump for free. It replaces the lid and I do not like the foundation all over the pump. I prefer just the bottle with no pump. The foundation is SPF and scent free.. The scent has a slight paint scent but thankfully no added perfume. I have sensitive skin and this does not bother my skin. The key for flawless application is skincare and a good primer. For more mature dehydrated skin this sinks into my pores of my cheeks and looks pitted and aweful. I had to switch my skincare to give me more hydrated base to get this foundation to look good on my over 40 face. It took me some time and practice to get this to look good on my skin, but it is worth it because the longevity is unlike any foundation. Once it is set into place, it does not move. This is a medium coverage to full coverage foundation depending on your application and amount used. I can get this to full coverage to hide my freckles and hyper pigmentation without looking cakey you can pile this on a spot that you want to hide and it will not look cakey even after 12 hours of wear. This is a matte foundation but it does not dry down, it remains tacky and sticky and requires me to set it with a powder.

I bought this foundation and color based on a recommendation from an employee and overall the foundation is okayyyyy. My biggest concerns were an every day, full coverage, with a natural finish that lasted all day. I have combo, sensitive, acne prone skin. I will say that this is long wearing but it can cling to dry patches for those dry/combo skin types. I do feel like this makeup is very heavy and can look cakey if not applied sparingly. I will likely return the product as I felt like it oxidized and became too pink toned to match my skin. Also the fact that the pump is sold separately is ridiculous in my opinion considering the price. Without the pump it is easy to waste product. It is so heartbreaking how Estee Lauder failed their targeted clients for this particular foundation. There was zero competition to the previous version of this foundation in the market when it came to oily skin. Estee Lauder reformulated this foundation and now I'll never give them another dollar of my money. Why would you change something that was perfect to begin with? Without even warning or explanation? They have numerous foundation products for a reason! This foundation was for us, oily skinned people. It dried quickly, leaving a beautiful full coverage, matte finish. It held back 99% of oils from coming through, even during the most scorching summers! It never transferred no mater how much I touched my face. The longest I wore this foundation was 14 straight hours (during a work event, outdoors, in the middle of summer). When I tell you my face looked untouched/flawless by the end of the night, I promise you, it's the truth!! The previous version of this foundation was hands down the ONLY foundation I would ever use for countless years because nothing could compare. Now... it's just like every other foundation out there. Buildable medium coverage, demi-matte finish. It doesn't last 3 hours before my whole face is covered in oil. I have to blot & powder literally every 2-3 hours. The slightest touch to the face will remove all layers of makeup. No matter how I prep, what I use to finish & "hold" the makeup look, nothing works. When previously, all I needed was moisturizer, primer, this foundation and the smallest amount of setting powder in the morning and I was good for the entire day. We didn't ask for a change. We didn't need a change. For those with extremely oily skin who never knew the original formula, you are lucky. Its results were unbelievably reliable and long lasting. It was unparalleled to any other product out there. They gave us the perfect product and then ripped it away. Devastating.

Good Coverage But...
3 January 2024

I wore EL DW for a year or two and loved the coverage, however after my significant other commented on my skin looking dryer, (and he has never commented on my skin before), it got me thinking this wasn't the best foundation out there. I also used the EL Camouflage foundation which had even better coverage but was a little more drying. I tried a couple of the IT foundations but they weren't matte enough for me so I just kept using EL, (I do however use IT Bye Bye Pores blush and IT Bye Bye Pores pressed powder). Anyway, in the past 2 or 3 months I discovered Skinn Cosmetics on HSN, (Sister Station to QVC). After watching the presentation of the foundation and learning that all the female HSN hosts use it, I thought why not, I'll try it. It has good coverage and it's not drying on my almost 74 year old still oily skin. I usually have to touch up my T-zone area mid day with powder or a dab of foundation, but that's with any product for me. This brand also has many shades to choose from. And, I also started using a brush to apply instead of fingers. It makes all the difference in the world. I did experiment one day and went back to using EL just to make sure I wanted to stick with the Skinn brand. EL still has good coverage but is drying.

It is the only thing that does’nt look gross at the end of a 9-10 hour long shift, a day and night around town, wedding event and party in the middle of hot humid summer.. when you come home after a long day the face makeup is still fully intact.. what else is needed

I was worried at first because it went on kinda heavy and I like a light/medium coverage but....once it went on after about 5 minutes it just melted unto my skin. Reminded me of a tinted lotion feel with better coverage. I got this on sale and I almost didn't purchase it because the price is usually high...good thing it doesn't take much and lasts awhile because I'm hooked!! Didn't settle into my fine lines and wrinkles and made my dull skin look alive. love this.....I normally use Clinique even better foundation or Caliway tinted moisturizer but this will now be my go to and my usual go tos will be more like "when I want to remember why I use the Estee Lauder" ❤️...definitely a must have ...even with the price. the one thing i didn't like is the bottle. why would I ... MoreI was worried at first because it went on kinda heavy and I like a light/medium coverage but....once it went on after about 5 minutes it just melted unto my skin. The only reason I’m even giving this 2 stars is because the color match was on point. I’m the color marquises in nars and sandalwood was perfect for me in this foundation. My best friend recommended it and she loves it, so I think it works better for different people. I’ll have to keep looking.

Stunning…with a lot of fine print

I spent weeks figuring out how to love this foundation, which honestly is a bit much, but it really can look beautiful if you get it right. I wouldn’t recommend this as a quick, run-out-the-door foundation, because she’s pretty high maintenance.Finding your exact shade is critical. “Close enough” isn’t good enough with this one. It will settle in your pores in a way that will be really obvious. I was a much deeper shade than I thought I would be. It definitely self-sets a bit lighter than what the liquid looks like. There are a lot of claims out there about how to apply it. Spread it thin with your fingers, spatula or a paddle brush in sections. Blend edges as needed. Once finished with a very thin first layer, THEN you can go in and build it with a second layer or spot concealing. Wait to continue complexion work until the final layer has dried completely. Then go back in and do contour, blush, etc. I wouldn’t recommend a lot of baking with this, only VERY light setting if/where needed. All that being said, I am hopeful this will end up being my favorite humid weather, full beat foundation. Best of luck to those of you still working through the process.

I feel and look like a million dollars wearing it and the colour match is incredible. Even though it’s a thicker very full coverage product, I don’t need to wear as much contour , highlighter etc on top, so I actually am able to look more natural than obviously made up to the gods! If you’re wearing it all day long, you probably won’t even need to touch up whatsoever, only patt down any shine with a tissue.. it’s so good that I can remember wearing it often to fly to America, go out for the night, sleep in it, wake up and sit by the pool all day and not reapply! Not that I recommend that but I was young and skincare wasn’t a huge priority! An incredible product and well worth the money
