Electro-Voice Powered Speaker 10" 1200W

We bought these powered speakers for our church’s outreach events. We needed dependable speakers that we could set up and tear down quickly every week, and of course, speakers that would push the sound of our funky band out into the neighborhood. We we’re NOT disappointed! These Electro Voice speakers do the trick and then some! Awesome sound quality and power, and best of all, never a problem. No, not one. I’m very happy with this setup. Yes, I would definitely buy them again!

I had researched speakers for a while, and decided the ELX200-12P was the perfect fit for me. They have tons of power, yet are light weight and easy to setup. They offer multiple cable connection options, and have a simple DSP menu and controls. But most of all they sound great and pack a great punch for such a small and light package. The shipment came in only a few days, the speakers were shipped in strong heavy cardboard boxes with additional padding inside, ensuring the products safety in transit. Each speaker has its own engraved plate with serial number, which i documented for support purposes after unwrapping. My initial test was simply from my phone, cabled directly into the AUX port on the back, with a single XLR chaining the right to the left speaker, and ... MoreI had researched speakers for a while, and decided the ELX200-12P was the perfect fit for me. They sounded great, and were shaking my entire house! After testing multiple genres of music, I mounted them on a set of tripod stands i had and listened to them again. Awesome!

Clear as a bell and tough as hell!

These things sound fantastic. Crystal clear and plenty loud. That's to be expected though. I'm writing this review not to rave about the sound quality, but the incredible durability of these speakers. I had one set up on a stand on a rocky river shore for an early independence day celebration when a sudden wind gust blew it over. Probably 5 feet up, face plant on large river rocks banging up the grill and killing the generator I had it tied into. I thought for sure it was done for but got it set back up, genny fired up and she came right back on, clear and loud as ever, just with a battle scar or two! Awesome product I'm an EV fan for life now!

Fan of Electro Voice speakers

I already own the LiveX112 powered PA speakers and the EKX-15SP powered subwoofers. I've been looking for a more compact powered PA speaker for easier transport and decided on the ELX200-10P. Even though they are plastic instead of wood, they are built very well. The plastic is a textured matte finish with rubberized handles on top and side for easy carry. From a sound perspective they easily keep up with the older LiveX112P speakers. Using them in Club mode, full range, 0db configuration the sound was rich, full and warm. My second option was the the ZLX-12P but they are almost the same size as the LiveX112P. Third option was QSC K10.2 but those much more expensive and a bit brighter on the mids and highs than I prefer.

GREAT but.....

i only commented on what i know. i jam in my home studio. i'm sure these speakers would be great in other environments. first the bad stuff.. the really bad stuff.. OMG kinda bad stuff. the handles, the placement of the handles. top, bottom and ONLY one side handle. try carrying these precious AND expensive speakers thru doorways, passageways without clipping and knocking things over. EV (are you listening) PLEASE put one handle on EACH side. so they can easily be carried in a vertical/upright position. top and bottom IS good. but 1/side would be great. now the great stuff.. really really great stuff. i love these ELX200-15Ps. what state can i move to so i can marry these speakers? i had 2 behringer stacks. 1 stack/channel. b115d sitting on a b1800d. the b115d's are ... Morei only commented on what i know. i jam in my home studio. i'm sure these speakers would be great in other environments. first the bad stuff.. the really bad stuff.. (not sure if input level 12 o'clock = unity). b118d's settings: input level 9 o'clock, high cut 9 o'clock, no boost. i replaced the b115d's with the ELX200-15P's. the ELX-200's overwhelmed the subs had to increase input level on the b118d subwoofers. ELX200 settings: not sure went with out of box DSP settings, input level 12 o'clock. (i believe input level 12 o'clock does = unity). b118d's setting: input level increased to 1230 o'clock! the original and new stacks were fed by a yamaha mg10xu. with the original b115d/b118d stack the mxr output level was set at 2 o'clock. with the new ELX200-15P/b118d stack mxr output level decreased to 9 o'clock. the ELX200-15P's are MONSTERS. you better have rocks in your pockets 'cause these will BLOW YOU AWAY! BTW we are engaged!! left channel is a little 'jelly' though. thank you EV for the AMAZING SOUND. i'd say speakers but the handles!!!! thank you BEHRINGER b115d/b118d's still working!

Great Choice

Overall:In building a super compact light PA system I came across these EV's. I was thinking that the JBL EON 610 was the lighter smaller choice. The other guitar player got the JBL and I went for the EV. The EV sounds better and is less prone to feedback as a monitor. It's a better product and matches well as mains or monitors.

Great PA speakers

I use these with an EV ELX200-12SP either connected to the sub as a full range system or as tops with an Aux-fed sub (my preference) and I'm very happy with the performance and sound. Relatively lightweight and made well, my bandmate has a pair he's had for a few years and they hold up very well to frequent use. I think the EV ELX line is a great affordable choice.

Great Speaker!

Sound:Sound I great, i use them i a 5 piece rock/cover band. They sound fantastic!Features:EV did a great job umproving these with a bigger amp. Been using them for nearly 6 months and we havent made them limit yet!Ease of Use:Super easy, basically plug and play. You can controll them with the EV app to. This would be great for a DJ or someone using these without a mixing board.Quality:These seem very reliable so far. Its EV so you know its quality. However, on one of the cabinet's I recieved, the LED light on the front of the speaker didn't work. Not a huge deal, but I sent it back and zZounds sent me a new on in just a couple days!Value:I think its a great value. Nice to know that my speakers won't clip or get to hot. I know $599 is a lot of money, ... MoreSound:Sound I great, i use them i a 5 piece rock/cover band. They sound fantastic!Features:EV did a great job umproving these with a bigger amp. I know $599 is a lot of money, but these are worth it, and with 12 months to pay its not that bad!Manufacturer Support:They were great. The LED on one of the cabs didnt work. They were more than happy to take care of it, but zZounds just replaced it for me. Almost hassle free! The Wow Factor:They look as great as they sound! Also, they are pretty light to! I can easily grab 2 at once and carry them into the club.Overall:I run sound for my rock cover band. I upgraded to these from the ZLX. I am so glad I did! If you are wondering if they are loud enough or if they are louder than the zlx, the answer is yes. However, not a ton louder. What is great though is that at high volumes the dont clip, like ever. I have been using these for almost 6 months now and I havent made them limit once, compared to my Zlx that limited every show a lot. The sound quality at high volume it great also, the highs are nice and crisp but it still has pretty good low end for a 12 inch speaker (I use a sub with mine). I honestly dont have any complaints about them right now. I think they are a high quality EV product and will last a long time.

Killer EV Speakers

EV has been a leader in pro audio gear for decades and for good reason. These new ELX powered speakers are great because they are lightweight and efficient. Gone are the days lugging around passive boxes and bulky racks of power amps, conditioners, and other gear to get it to sound great. These feature a 1200 watt Class D amp and some killer built in DSP (EQ, Crossovers, and presets) to get it dialed in perfectly in just about any situation. These can be used flyed, on stands, or as wedges so they can be utilized in a lot of applications. With an output SPL of 130dB and excellent clean sound across the whole spectrum these would be useful for many settings. As a guy that personally owns and uses EV active loudspeakers I can't recommend these enough. Just about ... MoreEV has been a leader in pro audio gear for decades and for good reason. Just about anytime we do a speaker shootout in the shop even the EV ZLX line can hold its own or beat the competition. So be sure to check these ELX speakers out if you're on the market for a great sounding active loudspeaker with some great DSP built in.

Review of ELX200-15P 15 2-way Powered Speaker

The speakers are great - loads of range and power as well as ease of connection - e.g. Used just one outside for an acoustic gig (voice/mic and acoustic-electric guitar). No mixer needed and the sound came across well I thought - Didn't need to turn it right up, which is the idea really, as I wanted speakers that could deal easily with the range/volume. Fitted covers aren't very thick but appear well made and quick to place over speakers without need to lift (they don't go over the bottom) with cut outs for handles - nice touch. Worth it to protect the investment!
