This is the second 55 I have owned, the first I lost while feeding cows. The knife is slim and fits well in my pocket for everyday use. Like most buck knives I’ve own, it came sharp and ready to use. I count on my pocket knife each day, and don’t care for one that I can’t hold to task. This is a great knife with perfect dimensions for the pocket and great quality. Hope to pass on to my daughter.

Knife itself is actually perfect love the knife. The packaging it comes in is garbage tho. It’s sent in a plastic package that allows the knife to get scuffs all over the brass. And then to add insult to injury Cabelas didn’t try to resolve the issue, was told not our problem. For $70 for a pocket knife it should be shipped flawless

I have always been satisfied with the few USA made bucks I have. But this little 55 exceeds expectations. Also I’d like to add that I also really appreciate SKS for being a convenient, local, and reliable source for my favorite knives and tools.

I enjoy the classic wooden scaled lockback knives, and I needed a smaller profile knife for dressing small game, pheasants, and grouse. I like a clip point profile for this work, and my Buck 110 feels too big for the task. While the 55 performs admirably with small game, I find myself wishing the blade was a touch longer (2 1/2 - 2 7/8 inches), and the handle is quite thin. (I wish I could order a Buck 501 with a clip point)It does, however, make an excellent EDC. Perfect size to slip into a pocket, and gives a "gentleman's knife" appearance in public. I do find myself reaching for a drop point blade for tough zip ties and plastic bubble packaging, but the 55 is also capable. The 55 is advertised as being a half-sized 110. I do find myself reaching for a drop point blade for tough zip ties and plastic bubble packaging, but the 55 is also capable. The 55 is advertised as being a half-sized 110. That is true in blade length, however, the handle is very thin and not proportional to the 110, and there are some other cosmetic differences. My example of the 55 has what looks like stained but bare walnut scales, and is not sealed like the 110. I've had mine for a year, and it has held up, though I wonder if it will warp in the future.I have multiple Bucks including the 110, 501, 379, 316, and 284, but the 55 is my favorite for EDC. I plan to get the 503 next since I think I'd like a small classic drop point EDC. My search continues for the perfect small game clip point knife. Not quite what I expected when I bought it, but I do think it is still a 5 star knife.
Just received mine. Was worried about some reviews but its as solid as it can be. Super sharp, great fit n finish with quality materials. Like all Bucks it’s another lifer.
High quality pocket knife that makes a great gift that will last a lifetime (maybe more). Good item to pass down as an heirloom. Well worth the cost. Would be great if they made sheaths or clips to secure it in the pocket but its small enough to not need it
I will start by saying I love Buck knives. The designs are classic. The materials are quality and their customer service is top notch. That being said this knife was a tad smaller than i expected. But I am used to carrying a 110. When i wear jeans this knife rides in the little coin pocket on the front right side. My youngest son just started Cub Scouts and i plan on getting him one of these when he gets he completes the scout knife safety course. It's small enough for little hands and opens smoothly. It is a beautiful knife with a sharp edge. A must have for any fan of Buck knives.
I love knives. I love pocket knives, fixed blade knives, cutlery, and everything in between. I'm not a brand-loyalist, but Buck knives have a special place in my heart. My first knife was a 110 that was handed down from my grandfather. Today I have about 20 different 110's, including the most modern, slimmed down and updated Slim Pro. But, the under-appreciated "55" is one of my favorite knives for daily carry. While it's not something that I'd bring on a hike, hunting, camping, or any other outdoor task, it's a perfect companion for the office. The blade is just big enough to fulfill any task I'm realistically going to encounter in the workplace, and the overall size and weight of the knife is perfect for carrying in slacks. I've carried the one pictured for about 3 years now and it gets used on an almost daily basis on tasks ranging from opening boxes, breaking down cardboard, trimming my fingernails, and even for eating when I can't find a sufficient alternative. The 420HC steel keeps an edge for a respectable amount of time and has proven durable enough for anything that I've asked it to do. I've sharpened it a few times over the time that I've had it...I don't exactly keep track but I generally sharpen my EDC knives once every six months or so. Quality is typical USA Buck quality...fitment is perfect, blade locks securely and is perfectly centered, and the scales are cut beautifully. What would I change? Add this to their options in the custom knife shop so I can order some personalized ones for my kids.
I bought this knife as a X-mas gift. When I received the package the blister was cut so the knife had been removed and replaced.I decided to not gift the knife because of that and kept the knife myself. All in all the knife is pretty nice.
This is well built, works smoothly, is easy to open, a bit harder to close, and is quite expensive for the size. It is very slim and fits nicely in your pocket. In fact you forget it is there--very comfortable to carry. It is very sharp as well especially the tip of the blade. It fits nicely in your hand. Not quite sure why it costs so much more than the 110 or 112 as it is quite a lot smaller. The handles are ebony, not American walnut as stated in the description.
