Very pleased with how quickly the speakers arrived, this is the second time I’ve used DV247 now and I’m extremely impressed with the service I received.The speakers are simply beautiful, the sound is crisp and they look amazing. I was worried about buying white monitors as they might get dirty but the colour will match everything else I have in my new house.Would recommend DV247 to anyone now! 😎😎

I originally tried these speakers a couple years back when I didn't have a sub. They were nice, but didn't have the low end fullness. Fast forward to now. I had a pair of JBL 305MKII's and added a JBL 10" powered sub. Once I swapped these speakers in place of the JBL's, I heard imaging I never had before and better detail. The fit and finish of these Yamahas is exceptional. They mate wonderfully with the JBL 10" sub too. VERY happy!

They came with consecutive serial numbers which was very reassuring. Because of my setup I had to buy some 1m stands to get the tweeters at ear height and then the detail is excellent. Compared to the dearer version they don’t have mounting points or phase reverse but I can live without those. Great sound. Not much bass but it's a reference monitor. I have desktop logitech too, and use that for the subwoofer if I need it for leisure listening. Yamaha also has a sub-woofer for this.

With a sub HS5s are a great solution (even a magic hack) for a very small mixing space (my room is 11-L, 8-W, 7-H) but they need a sub to feel full and to attain the full mixing spectrum. If you're serious about your mixes you'll need to tack on the price of an HS8S sub to the HS5's low-seeming price tag.I tested the HS5 against the HS7 in my tiny mixing room. Both with an HS8S subwoofer, an isolation stand, and sonarworks flat EQ. Without a sub the HS7s were the only viable option. With a sub on both the result was a toss-up. The HS7s felt very subtly fuller in the mids but ever-so-slightly boomy in my tiny room. Brilliant budget active studio monitors.It's important to set the switches on the back regarding the placement.Hook them up with balanced XLR cables if you can.Massive difference in sound when they are mounted on proper isolated speaker stands, floor standing or on a desk.Highly recommended !
Like most Yamaha gear, build and sound quality is excellent. Has made me much better at mixing due to lovely flat frequency response. Also, highly recommend this model if you're mixing in a less-than-ideal space. It's a good size, big but not ridiculous, the HS7s for my room would've been overkill! If you're mixing rock/pop stuff (ie not big bassy electronic music) they're just the ticket. Also 2 for £270 is the best price I've seen on any site so very kind on the ol' wallet too.
I could not be happier with this purchase. The montors first of all sound fantastic, they look great sitting on my desk and has made my working from home experience so much more enjoyable. Furthermore, the offer I found here was better than other competitors I considered and included my own choice of cable to fit my own preferences. Delivery was prompt too and I recieved the product in 4 days of making the order.
This is my third pair of the HS series. I have tried five other makes over the years and the HS series just stand out for me. The build quality is fantastic with a very true and almost flat frequency response which is what is needed when creating and producing music and video content. I can’t recommend these enough. I’ve just changed down from the HS7 to these HS5’s due to a studio refurb and required a slightly smaller monitor.
I work in a relatively small room with no acoustic treatment and I find the HS5 the perfect size and volume power for it. Also the white version looks amazing.
