This latest purchase was a replacement for a 6” Chef’s knife that I have had for about 11 years. This knife is great due to its size and weight. I use this for everyday kitchen prep as well as breaking down whole chickens with ease. They honor their lifetime warranty when materials fail. I’m thankful I bought this knife many years ago and am glad to have a brand new one.

I have a high quality knife set from a competitor brand. I bought the set twenty years ago. After the handle on my utility knife broke, I bought a replacement from the competitor brand. I was immediately disappointed that the quality and craftsmanship was not as good as my existing set. Then, I saw that the knife was made in Spain (not Germany like the rest of my set). I will admit that I looked at the competitor brand offerings first. I noticed another set at a higher price that was made in Germany (not Solingen). Since I'd never been enamored of my existing knife set, specifically the handle, I decided to purchase another utility knife from Wusthof. I had seen the brand in high-end stores for years and admired the quality and craftsmanship. I just never owned one ... MoreI have a high quality knife set from a competitor brand. It functions way better than my other knife and feels better in the hand too! When I finish my kitchen renovation, I will be buying a full set of Wusthof knives. Thank you for not succumbing to "shareholder value" like the competitor brand.

We are a Wustof family. We have many of their knives. The knives maintain an edge exceptionally well, are not difficult to sharpen, and the balance and hand feel are second to none. We buy them as gifts for others so they too can enjoy the use of an exceptional knife. Yes, we have tried other brands, but they are gone to yard sales as there is simply nothing close to a Wustof.

I have had the knife for one month. It has a very keen edge, to the point that one must wash it with great care to prevent getting cut. I barely nicked my finger on it and it penetrated my skin. Cuts vegetables without any resistance and has good balance. The blade's convexity helps when doing a cutting motion.
First of all, let me speak to the excellent customer service & warranty with Wusthof knives. I sent back a knife that was probably 20 years old & functioning well until the handle cracked. I was promptly issued a credit and bought this knife which I really like. It feels great in my hand. The blade is flawless. It’s nicely balanced. Would highly recommend.
It was too big of a blade. I was trying to replace a broken knife that I sent in to be replaced and instead of receiving a knee comparable knife I received a credit to purchase one online. Unfortunately, I didn’t measure the knife or take a picture of it so I wasn’t sure what length the knife was so I guessed and was wrong. I didn’t need or want one this big/long, I wanted a smaller one. I currently have the smallest size paring knife and was trying to replace the next size up, but this was too big. I would have preferred the company choose a comparable knife to the one I had previously purchased and mail it to me. My actual knife wasn’t even on the website so I had to guess what size and what type.
We have loved our Wusthof knives we received as a generous wedding gift for over 17 years. Several weeks ago a chunk of the handle on a smaller utility knife fell off without dropping or damaging it beforehand. Wusthof customer service was easy to reach and very understanding. They had us send in our knives and determined the handles had a problem covered by their lifetime warranty - and replaced them all with new knives!!! So yes, these knives might be more expensive than some, but I see it as an investment as their quality is exceptional and guaranteed for life, and good knives make cooking so much more enjoyable! We use this chef’s knife the most - it’s manageable for my husband’s large hands and my small ones.
This is my first Wusthof knife and I am disappointed. Maybe my expectations are too high, but after a deal of research about the Wusthof quality, I didn't find the chef's knife to be extremely sharp. I tried dicing potatoes, carrots and slicing a prime rib which was fine, but I can't say it out performed my old Henckel knives. This knife is definitely not razor sharp as described by some reviewers.
This was the knife that started my Wusthof collection about seven years ago, and it remains the most used and favorite among my (now four total) Wusthof knives.I am a woman with small hands and find the 8'' to be just a bit unwieldy (I have an 8'' santoku I rarely use because of the size.) Though the 6'' cooks' knife is easier to wield for me, it is still an incredibly strong, high-quality knife with a good weight to it. I also tested high-end Japanese knives prior to purchasing the Wusthof and while I found the quality to be just as good, I just prefer the heavier weight of the Wusthof. I use the cook's knife nearly every day to chop onions, peppers, carrots, cucumbers, and cut meat. It's hard to imagine life without it.Since purchasing my first Wusthof, I won't ... MoreThis was the knife that started my Wusthof collection about seven years ago, and it remains the most used and favorite among my (now four total) Wusthof knives.I am a woman with small hands and find the 8'' to be just a bit unwieldy (I have an 8'' santoku I rarely use because of the size.) The quality makes food prep so much more efficient and satisfying. Every year I save up for the next to add to my collection. If you have never experienced a high-quality steel-forged knife in your kitchen, I can't recommend it enough. These knives make food prep so much more efficient and they will stay with me for the rest of my life.
I feel very secure in handling this knife. Great balance to weight ratio. Easy to guide cutting because of the grip on the handle and the easy placement of the finger on the blade. I was used to a 7-inch chef's knife, so the 8-inch took me a little time to get comfortable with the difference. It simply weighs more, which in the end makes it easier to cut. A top quality knife. I have Wusthof knives in my drawer along with a couple of top competitor's. Wusthof greatly out preforms the other.
