Do yourself a favor and blind tast Wild Turkey 101 next to a few high dollar bourbons. You might prefer one of the $80 bottles, but you might not. You will swear that it is every bit as high quality a whiskey. I think of Wild Turkey 101 as the standard for basic good bourbon. It is not my favorite bourbon. But most of my favorites costs an absurd amount of money these days. When you can find them.

I'm newer to bourbon, but WT 101 so far is the best value bourbon I've purchased. I did a blind taste test with my current collection, and this beat out the likes Eagle Rare 10, Henry McKenna BiB, EH Taylor small batch, and Evan Williams single barrel. Although 101 didn't win my taste test, I think it says a lot about the quality of it.

I must've purchased a bad bottle. This stuff is garbage.
Very pleased with this bourbon. starts off with a great nose with caramel and spice.Needs ice or touch of water to make it blossom and bring it to a smooth finish.Highly recommended.
