Why Are You Like This? combines the best elements of word guessing games with unexpected twists, offering Party/Family Mode for 4+ players and a cooperative Date Night Mode for 2 players. Players talk, draw, or gesture to get their team to guess secret words before the timer runs out, with each card adding a unique challenge. Perfect for parties, team-building events, and mixed-age game nights, the game’s fast-paced, physical nature injects energy and hilarity into any gathering. This evening my friends and I had an absolute blast paying this game. There was many moments of laughter. All agreed it was worthy of 5-stars. We did a team of 3v3. One of the couples had to seperate since there was three different couples. But it went over great. 6 players felt like the perfect number. Each player got to do one challenge each. We played the best out of 3 full games. Each game had 3 rounds. The rounds were fast-paced and it never felt like it was going on too long. Each team must complete the challenge with their corresponding words. It really brought out the competitive side of everyone, but in a fun way. Even when the team I was on lost, we still had a great time over-all. The challenge cards tell you how much time you have to guess as many words ... Even when the team I was on lost, we still had a great time over-all. The challenge cards tell you how much time you have to guess as many words as you can. The ones with 2 minutes were definitely harder, but sometimes that 2 minutes felt so long. On the other side the ones with 30 seconds were easier and felt very quick. Our favorite time seemed to be the 1 minute mark.If you are familiar with EK games, it has a similar vibe to Poetry for Neanderthals in the way the team battles work as well as some of the rules. But this game will get you moving and laughing. There are aspects of sharades and pictionary in this game as well.We did experience some cons, but we felt they were minor. One was the pen and paper pad. The pen stopped working for us by the 4th round. But who doesn't have spare pens laying around their house? As far as the pad... we just felt it would have been better for a dry erase board and marker. Some people struggled to flip the page over in the heat of the moment and use the other side to conserve paper. After 3 games of the Party mode, we did one game of the Date Night/Cooperative mode. It was confusing to most as we switched to that mode, which was meant for two players. Once we got everyone on the same page, they did enjoy. You needed to get 15 words to win. We won with 18. However, the group preferred the competitive team mode instead. I would treat this 2 player/cooperative mode as almost an alternate version of the main game or an expansion pact.

This is another game from the Exploding Kittens geniuses. It's a fast paced game that challenges even the best "gamers" to keep things straight. Playing with my family led to laughter and lots of people shouting "REMEMBER THE RULES!!" But that's the catch there aren't that many rules, you just have to follow the card instructions. My boys "loved" having to keep eye contact with people while they were trying to score points. It's definitely a game that keep everyone involved and great for parties.

We're a family of 4, we played it for game night and had a lot of fun! I left the date night cards out for family play but I like the adult play idea, they could really be played up or down, nothing overly racy unless you made them so. Some of the challenges were definitely crazy...drawing but you have to keep the paper and your forehead on the table. Our 14 year old son giggled through his entire turn of talking while sticking your tongue out. Just like with all EK games, simple but fun gameplay, quick to learn and short rounds of play. We'll absolutely be keeping this one in our game night rotation!
Got the chance to play this with my girlfriend the other day and we enjoyed it! There are two modes: date night mode and party mode, with the only differences being the you have some different.. uhh, "relationship-related"? cards like marriage, proposal, etc. It also switch from a competitive to a cooperative style which was nice. The whole game plays VERY quickly and is one of those that has you stepping a bit outside of your comfort zone by following some silly, random rules while trying to get your teammate to guess the prompt. We easily finished a full round in about 10 minutes. There were times we had to make kissy noises while talking, or balance a pen on our face, or even hop around while trying to get eachother to guess the words.I wouldn't say this is a ... There were times we had to make kissy noises while talking, or balance a pen on our face, or even hop around while trying to get eachother to guess the words.I wouldn't say this is a game that you invite a bunch of friends over to play and build a whole game night out of it, it's genuinely too light and short for that. However, it's fantastic as a bit of a warm up or icebreaker to some other game or general hangout. It really just gets people together to be a little silly and cut through whatever nervous tension might arise in a social situation. As long as you're in the right mindset and you recognize the fairly niche purpose of this game, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
I love any kind of game like this, telestrations, charades, pictionary, etc. In fact, we even have combined most of those games into one box at our house, just so we have more cards. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect here, but it was incredibly fun! And definitely better than just trying to play games with the other words. But the real highlight, as a polyamorous person living in a house of three people, was that date night mode supported three people! It's probably more aptly named cooperative mode, but it being called date night mode made me, personally, really really happy with it!
Why Are You Like This? is like a cross between Taboo and Charades. The timed challenges add an interesting factor, but seem a little short. I played multiple times in Date Mode and after 3 games, our total correct cards still did not add up to the 15 we needed to win one game! I think part of the problem is that there were a lot of drawing challenges but we are both exceptionally bad at drawing. The short games did allow us to play multiple times rather quickly, which would be really good in a party setting as well. This could be a fun game to bring around my family members who loved Taboo, but we may need to extend the timers for drawing challenges because we are all very bad at those.
Why Are You Like This? (love the name) is a fun guessing game where you try to get your teammate(s) to guess a word by doing traditional acts (drawing, speaking, acting), non-traditionally. It's super fun, and can even be done with only two people (my bf and I did the Date Night version).I only had two issues with this game:1) Some of the words are difficult to do in all categories. For example, drawing "cuddling" or "cute" is really hard, but you're only allowed to skip three cards before your turn is forfeit, so that can be frustrating.2) There are a LOT of draw cards. It seemed like there were more of those than anything else, and while I love drawing, I know not everyone does or is necessarily good at it, so that might be annoying for some. Also, I would ... Also, I would have liked to have done more than draw during the first game we played, but with date night mode you only draw three action cards, and even though I shuffled them really well, all three cards were drawing cards! In the end, this is an awesome concept for a game and is probably better in a large group setting, but even so, I think it missed the mark with a couple of things. Hopefully there will be an expansion pack with more of a variety of actions.
This is another great game by Exploding Kittens. Talk, sure. Gesture, sure. Write, sure...but wait there's more to it than just that!!! Write but don't pick up the pen the whole turn. Gesture but don't say anything else. Talk but only in one syllable words...Those are just a few things you will have fun trying to do in this game. Date night mode for two players or party mode for 4+ players. Pick up a copy today and invite your friends over!!
OH MY GOODNESS this game is a winner! I'm sure it would be fun in teams, but with the mixed ages in our family, we played on cooperative mode and it was SO MUCH FUN. I particularly love that everyone takes turns with the same challenge, because sometimes it feels like everyone else has easy challenges and only you get the hard ones, right? In this game, since we all do the same challenges, sometimes you're awesome, and sometimes you cant for the life of you figure out how to draw "CUTE" with your eyes closed and you and your entire family fall off your chairs laughing.
