The Vortex Recon R/T 15x50 Tactical Scope is the higher magnification version of this unique Vortex product. The Recon R/T 15x50 tactical scopes are compact, hand-held spotting scopes designed specifically for surveillance and range estimation. This 15X magnification scope is lightweight and agile, with excellent optical performance from the Vortex premium XD glass and XR lens coatings. The 50-mm objective lens provides more light gathering than a conventional binocular, while the adjustable hand strap confers a solid grip and minimizes shake. The Vortex Recon R/T scope employs a hashmarked ranging reticle that uses mrad-based subtension lines for ranging, holdover and windage corrections. There is also a quick-ranging secondary system that keys on a human silhouette.

The Pro's: It is powerful. Image is bright and sharp. For an optic with a 3.33 exit pupil, it is very adequate in low light. Traditionally the rule hss been that for good low light performance, you should have an exit pupil of 3.75. The Vortex Solo 10x36 does extremely well with an exit pupil of 3.6 and this one also exceeds the expectation (My experience with the Solo led me to believe it would). I had a Zeiss Aus Jena Nobilem 15x60 and this has a brighter image and keeps up with it in low light Cons: a bit of a hassle setting the eye relief for me, but that is unique to me. It should have had a larger objective lens. Especially considering that the Vortex binox at 56mm does. So powerful & comfortable. Exactly what I was looking for. Great quality too.
50mm diameter lens provide very comfortable viewing scope, however, its 15 times zoom which means you need a very steady hand to hold it . The easy to read distance measuring scale really gives me a approximately object distance measurement. It is fun to have Vortex Recon tactical scope , I love to have it whenever I traveled.
this is perfect for having to mil by yourself on the move. It has great cross hairs with dashed miliradian scale. You can accuratley read mil to 0.1 to range targets nearly to 1000 yards. You can use the scale to measure antler spreads from 100's of yards away. It small and can clip on your belt, very durable and vortex warranties all their products for life to any owner. If you can bring in the corps of this thing, they will replace it.
