I’ve been taking collagen supplements for about 6 months. I started taking them after my breast augmentation surgery to promote wound healing for the connective tissue that my surgeon cut through to insert the implant (Collagen type 1 3 is in this collagen supplement). I see a difference in the strength of my nails. This supplement will work with consistent daily use, my nails use to be so weak the bed of my nails would crack in the middle no matter how healthy I would eat. I couldn’t get acrylic nails because the health of my nails were so brittle. I mix my collagen with the (liquid IV hydration multiplier electrolyte drink mix) Watermelon is my favorite flavor and passion fruit is good too. I wanted to share in case one of you are suffering. Nobody should have to suffer in pain. I hope this helps somebody.

I started buying VP from Costco and taking it every morning with my coffee. It’s flavorless and actually makes my coffee have a creamer consistency imo. I have probably used it for over a year daily and I’ve noticed a huge difference with the growth of my hair and nails. I used to hate getting my haircut every 8 weeks because I felt like it was just getting shorter and shorter every time I cut it since it wasn’t growing. After taking this supplement for a year my hair is getting a fresh trim every 8 weeks and not losing much length! It’s also a lot fuller than before. My nails also grow exponentially now. I like that this in an unflavored powder formula because there is nothing worse than a flavored powder that just isn’t good or a huge horse pill you take 5 times a day! I mainly looked to this product for the hair and joint support benefits. I’ve been taking it for a few days and already my knees don’t hurt near as much as usual (usual being horribly painful) and as for my hair that will take time. It says unflavored but though it may have no scent it has a very slight taste but it’s not horrible or memorable. I mix it with a glass of water and drink it in one swoop. I will say it needs to be mixed with drinks that are room temperature or warmer other wise you will end up with clumpy slimy unappetizing stuff. Save yourself from that! I would highly recommend this.

I want to start off by saying that this will not improve your skin. Collagen is too large of a molecule to be absorbed in your bloodstream. However, this is a great unflavored protein powder. I eat mostly pescatarian (I occasionally eat chicken at restaurants) and am always looking for new ways to get protein (don’t worry, I know this comes from animal products but I’m also looking to try the marine collagen). I’d written off protein powders as a whole because, frankly, they usually taste and smell pretty gross and make your smoothies gritty. Then I tried this and WOW. it is SO filling and even if I use quite a lot, I never get an offputting smell, flavor, or texture. This has been such a helpful way to get more protein, I absolutely LOVE it.
I bought this about 3 weeks ago and use 1 scoop per day (I have only done 2 scoops per day 2-3 times). I have noticed a change in my hair (no flat iron needed for smoothing and I’m gonna skip my next keratin treatment!), longer and stronger nails, and smoothing of fine lines around my eyes and lips…which seem a bit fuller too!My only complaint is the price. I was standing in Costco with the Vital Proteins Marine Collagen container in my hand, making my decision to buy or not. on the spot, I read several Google reviews saying "ewh grosss taste! its' like a dead fish on a Florida beach!" but, I went ahead and got it. Really happy to say that, with the "Marine" blend, there is only a minor (very minor!) hint of anything oceanic about the smell. I probably get that because I just down 3 tablespoons worth with hot tap water. I Just wanted to report that no, there is no fishy smell/taste to this product and presume those "Reviews" suggesting this are from competitors? I may leave a follow up review after I've gotten thru the container 1/2 way to report what if any improvements I've seen.

Maybe I’d try again in the future if they really are able to make it flavorless (and dissolving in cold liquids would be a nice bonus!) & figure out how to make the packaging more sustainable.
