Vegemite is an Australian spread made from yeast products. Arguably the most Australian spread ever to be invented it was born in 1922 when Kraft (formerly the Fred Walker Company) hired a young chemist to create a spread from the richest known source of Vitamin B. Our personal serving suggestion is to toast bread, lather on the vegemite then melt cheese over it in the grill. This is meal is part of the Australian Citizenship test. One must be able to cook and eat two slices of the "Cheese on Toast with Vegemite". Be prepared as it is not for the faint hearted.
