I love the concept of a separate roller bag that could slide over the handle of a slightly larger bag and still qualify as a personal item that could fit under an airplane seat. However, it is very difficult to get this bag to fit over the handle of my Travelpro carryon. (I think it is a Max Lite with a leather handle, a few years old). I can do it, but it is a struggle, not something I want to be doing quickly. A slightly larger sleeve would make all the difference. I gather Travelpro did not test it with older luggage.

There is no way to fold or fasten the Velcro flaps so that they aren’t sticking out, ready to latch onto anything soft. I will try using bobby pins to hold them out of the way to see if that helps. If you leave the plastic insert for liquids velcroed in place, you cannot open the bag very far or access items stored behind it - and who need to access shampoo or other liquids while seated on a plane? The Maxlight Rolling Tote is a great size. I am a 77 year old woman who travels alone. I can pack this bag and still stow it in the overhead by myself. The sleeve on the back allows me to secure it to my larger Travelpro bag for easy navigation of the airport until I check the bigger bag. Travelpro quality is unmatched in my opinion. My original bag has survived many flights and is unscathed after several years of use. I would recommend this carry-on rolling tote to anyone.

This is the perfect size for short travel or to keep essentials with you if you check another bag. It's very lightweight which is perfect. I'm a retired airline employee and have always loved the Travelpro Brand. I did find, however that it did not fit under the seat in an exit row aisle (because of the way the seats anchor in that row) but plenty of room to store under the seat on even a regional carrier . It sits on top of my larger roller bag on wheels fine but was a little top heavy (to be expected). The only drawback is the "new plastic" smell. I left my bag open for two weeks before my trip and cleaned with lemon which got most of it. I didn't take away a star but it definitely is an issue.

It also holds my toiletries and other “stuff” one needs if stranded in an airport . It has been through international travel like a champ!It fits in small plane overheads but it’s never fit under the seat. I also use it as my main suitcase for road trips, attaching a non wheeled Travelpro tote for the cpap supplies . It packs “a lot” using the bundling method .The back strap makes an intimate fit .Today I purchased the wheeled duffle that solves my problem of the bottom wheels of this weekender not stacking well on my larger checked suitcase.I have had this tote for about 7 years and found it has held up beautifully ... I had an older version of this bag that was at least 16 years old. We travel often and used this bag on most trips. It was still in great shape except for the wheels which got chipped on the cobblestones in Italy. It was too old to get replacement parts so I purchased a new bag. The quality is great and the organization and space in the newer version is better than the older version. It fits in the overhead of even the smallest planes I’m sure I will have this for a long time.
Bought this for a trip to Oahu but that trip was canceled so my evaluation will be somewhat incomplete. I'd been using carry on backpack (35 liters) but wanted a rolling carry on of comparable size, between 30 and 35 liters. Most that I found were too large (45 liters) and would have to be gate checked, even though dimensions are supposed to be carry on size. This seemed to be the best solution.At first glance I thought the Maxlite 5 would be too small at 26 liters, but I have "pretend packed' a number of times using packing cubes, stuffing my shoes with socks and other clothing and I think this will work. I also have a large travel tote for items that may not fit.I'll use it in a few months for a two week trip to Costa Rica and will reevaluate then.
The odor from unpacking was not acceptable. I used activated charcoal and baking soda for about 5 days to remove most of the manufacturing odor.The capacity is smaller than expected, but I’m still trying to incorporate this piece of luggage into my needs.I am having difficulty using the telescoping handle. It will not lock at any location except the longest position (intermediate positions do not work).I love the idea of this bag but not sure it’s a keeper because of the volume capability.
The size of this carry on was perfect for an overnight or two trip. Lots of great features and very light weight. I loved the color and the side pockets would be useful. Unfortunately when unpackaged it had a strong rank chemical odor. I left the bag open for a week to air out but after seven days the smell was still nauseatingly strong. At the end of the second week the smell was still so strong there was no way I could stand to put my clothes in the bag. I returned the bag.
When I bought new luggage in 2021 I went with Travelpro because of all the great reviews. While I love my 22” and 25”” bags I’m not so happy with this one. While it holds everything I need it to I can’t really fit it under the seat in front of me. Even on an American preferred economy seat, it won’t fit. And on Southwest it will only fit under a middle seat on a newer plane if I really push hard. What is the point if that. I even a domestic first class flight on American and had to put it overhead. This all makes traveling with it much more difficult. My old tote bag held as much and worked much better. Sorry, Travelpro, you need to either stop advertising this as an underseat bag or redesign it.
