In scanning the reviews on various sites, I'd like to clarify a few things. The drive is 4TB, but available space is 3.63 TB. This is normal. Have you looked at your computer's HDD/ SSD lately? If you have a 1TB HHD, you will have 9.31GB of available space. Curious as to why? Google it!Connectivity. You have the "flex"ibility of connecting to either a USB 3.0 and or USB-C port. There is nothing mentioned about obtaining the USB-C speed. If this device honored that USB-C throughput, the cost would be higher. The tests that I have applied to my Canvio Flex portable drive. Naturally, I started off with the diagnostic software that is available from Toshiba's website. Ran it though the test, and it passed. I attempted to update the firmware but haven't found it yet (odd). I transferred videos 4GB's each, music 20 to 40 MB's each, and files from another portable Hard Drive. It took over four hours, but then again, you have to consider the size of the data being transferred and the capabilities of both drives. This drive runs at 5400 rpm.Personally, I do not feel that these drives are ready for laptop computers. I am a firm believer that there is not enough current being applied to the device. However, I use my desktop computer. I experienced no issues with drive connectivity or recognition. I prefer power over convivence. I wholehearted believe that flash drives work best for laptops, and possibly SSD portable drives as well. Currently, they are quite pricy.A word of advice. I suggest you purchase a pouch for your drive. These drives are very sensitive devices. A simple drop or jar on a hard surface can cause them to malfunction.

This drive is just the right capacity. It runs quietly and smoothly so far. Very economical, large capacity. So far it has worked great with our new iMacs.
Not much to say about a portable HD other than it works as expected, is fast, and hasn't crashed thus far.
This drive is huge for storing all your files and small enough to throw in a backpack for where ever you need to go. uploads and downloads are fast! I am a grad student and having ample storage is crucial to me so this is a perfect upgrade and allows me to keep my computer storage free and fast. I highly recommend this drive!
