TCL S522W 2.1 Channel Soundbar With Wireless Subwoofer

Whomever leaves anything other than five stars for this either had difficulty connecting, or just didn't appreciate the sound for the price. This system once i opened the box was easy to hook up(however it only came with RCA jacks and i needed to plug an HDMI cord into my Roku TV for it to work) and paired with my Onn Roku. Even though it is a different brand the volume controls up/down work with my tv remote. The only time i use the small one that came with it is to switch the type of sound. I had an Onn soundbar without a sub before, and it was okay, but this bar is in a much higher category. I put the Sub behind my recliner and paired with the Dolby surround of the bar it truly feels like a movie theater. There are times when i actually have to turn the sound down because of the deep base during music or explosions as i live in a small apartment complex and don't want to upset my upstairs neighbor. This is the perfect combo for a small living room for the price. definitely competes or exceeds the higher priced and 'quality' systems. Would buy again, and have recommended to several friends.

A little disappointed.

Ad seems misleading. Says to go from unboxing and listening in minutes. However, it only includes an RCA style connection cable and most newer TVs no longer have RCA connections. So, that leaves eArc, but only if you have the newer eArc high-speed HDMI data cable, or an optical cable, and neither of those is included in the box. Once connected, I noticed a time lag between the TV and audio, so that doesn't make me happy. The next step for me to correct this (per the TCL website) is to flash my new sound bar's software, so brand new out of the box, I need to flash the sound bar to make it work 100% and that means downloading a file to a flashdrive and following a specific flash procedure - probably will just take it back and buy something else. Great connection, great sound.

I mainly use the Bluetooth connection but it also offers several options for connectivity. As far as the connection, it is consistent and no lag. There are 3 presets on the remote - movie, music and dialog. When you first use it, it is set on dialog. Make sure to select your preference to get the best sound from the sound bar.The sound bar itself is built well. There is no fabric, plastic and metal mesh so it is easy to wipe off dust. Overall, it feels sturdy. I deducted a star because of the supplied power source. It takes up so much space on the extension cord. I cannot even plug both in one wall socket at once. If you are short on wall plugs/extension space; keep this in mind. Great sound bar!

This sound bar comes with a wireless subwoofer. I don't know much about how these things work, but this has been an awesome upgrade for watching TV and mostly movie nights. It gives better sound quality than my standard audio on my TV. It comes with a remote control, so you can control the system from the couch. The box comes with everything you need to set it up, including all cords, wall mounts, screws and even a wall mount template. I did not mount mine but simply placed below my TV set and it works fine. There are also buttons on the units themselves, to control volume, power and a Bluetooth button. The back of the sound bar has ports for all the things you may need, arc, opt, usb, aux and dc in. Modern design simple setup

I installed the TCL Alto 5+ 2.1 Channel Home Theater Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer, Bluetooth 5.1 to my 75 in TV. Installation was very quick and easy. I connected the speaker to the blue ray player with an Optical cable which was not included. However, it does include an RCA 3.5mm cable. The sound bar and the subwoofer have their own AC power adapter. The power adapters are quite large and bulky, so I connected the two ac adapters on a large power source. We especially liked that the subwoofer is Bluetooth, so you can connect it anywhere you'd like. The remote control is small, it fits in the palm in my hand. When pushing any buttons on the remote control you cannot see what you're changing. It doesn't show you on the TV or sound bar what setting you've changed to such as volume, treble, bass or any other setting on the remote. Overall, I do like how this home theater sounds and looks. It is simple to set up, modern design and it doesn't take up a lot of space in your home either.

Ok sound but audio delay is a deal beaker

The sound is fine for a budget sound bar. However, there is a major delay/lag with the audio compared to the video on the TV. The delay is probably half a second. Once you notice it, you cannot unsee it. If you have the TV audio on at the same time as the sound bar audio, you hear an extreme echo. I was hooking the soundbar up to a new TCL tv so the compatibility should have been optimal. I tried HDMI ARC and optical connections, and both had the same extreme lag. When I connected the TV to a stereo receiver using those same connections, the lag was gone. So the problem is definitely the sound bar. And based on the other recent reviews, I'm not the only one with this issue. I will be returning it.

Save your money!

Absolute junk! It was easy to hook up, it was marginally better than the built-in speakers. However, big time lag between audio and video discussed in many reviews is really annoying. I bought this on Black Friday for what I thought was a halfway decent price. Total disappointment from the day I hooked it up, which, unfortunately, was passed the 30 days I had to return it.On the upside, I also got some klipsch pro media multimedia speakers for $50 and connected those to the TV, and they are amazing. I was only able to connect via the headphone output because the TCL TV is seriously lacking in audio outputs. However, I ordered a cheapie preamplifiers from Amazon for $20, and the set up is so head and shoulders above the TCL junk made to work with the Tv it is ... MoreAbsolute junk! The best budget Soundbar and Subwoofer $ can buy!

When I bought this the other day there was 25 reviews witj 4.6 stars then in jist a couple days it was flooded with a dozen or more reviews talking about audio delays some as little as 0.2-0.4 seconds? How do you even determine that??? Another guy said it's not Roku TV compatible?I don't know what they're talking about. I hooked it up to my Onn 55" Roku 4k TV via HDMI Arc and there was no audio delay. Turned the volume all the way up to 80 during testing and had no distortion or anything. Crystal clear sound and great bass from the subwoofer.Some people said they didn't have a sound delay with Bluetooth (again I didn't have a delay with HDMI Arc). I'm sure this is comparable to $150-$300 Soundbar and subwoofer combo's that you're just paying a premium for because they're some name brand like Klipsch, Polk Audio, Pioneer, Sony, etc...If you got $200-$1000 to drop on a Soundbar and subwoofer and you want name brand or have friends to impress then by all means do it but if you want quality audio on a budget then get this!

Theater Sound

I hooked this soundbar up to our 70in TV and it made such a huge difference in the sound. It sounds like a movie theater in our family room which is great because the sound on our TV did not project well before. It does come with a mount to hang it on the wall which I have not done yet but that would be a nice feature. It was very easy to set up and took only few minutes to do. We have a sound bar on our basement room tv which is another brand and this one does not quite have the deepest bass of the two but this is still comparable for sure. The best part is I can actually hear my shows when the kids and dogs are running around. Use Google Play store Roku remote app to hey voice

The sound is an improved over built-in speaker on the TV. But even with the eArc cable the sound was not in sync with the left movements. Even purchased a 8K e Arc cable and did not make a difference.My partner found Roku remote app on Google Play and the app has the sound sync feature that is not on the Roku remote which came with the TV. Using the app was finally able to get the sound in sync.If TLC had put this information in the instruction manual, we wouldn't have had to put up with the out of sync sound for over 5 months.My partner used to get dizzy from the out of sync lips movements. She's very happy now not getting dizzy when she sees people speaking on our 55-inch screen.
