T-Rex Duct Tape

I had been a long term user of Gorilla brand duct tape but after reading manufacturer claims and description of T Rex tape, I purchased the product from Canadian Tire.I’ve found this tape is not as good as the Gorilla brand.Adhesion is not as good, and this is the main reason for choosing a tough duct tape.I will stick with the Gorilla tape.

I bought this tape at a local Walmart just because it looked strong and well, the name is cool.A few months later, the arm of my chair broke - the plastic sheared and it just came clean off. I was able to use this tape to secure the arm to the chair.Let me repeat, this tape held part of my body weight for weeks, was taped on a 90 degree angle to where the force was being applied (Taped to the chair, my arm is pushing down, not sideways) and the dang stuff still held.Eventually, I got a new chair so I took the arm off again - but here is a picture, and this held for 6 weeks until I took it apart.

Granted this deals with adhesion only. But I was working in subzero temps and standard Gorilla tape wouldn't even think of sticking in those conditions. Emergency bodging required duct tape of SOME sort and the T-Rex tape adhered in below-frigid conditions with NO problem. As the season warmed I did not note any adhesive performance of T-Rex fall below that of Gorilla tape. Given I could usually find T-Rex (also USA-made) tape for 1/2 to 2/3 the price of Gorilla tape, T-Rex tape has now become my benchmark/standard for duct tape in all applications. Both more costly (Gorilla) and less costly tapes BOTH fail to perform as well as T-Rex IN MY EXPERIENCE. Therefore T-Rex has now become a standard stocking item on my homestead for these reasons.
