Okay so this is going to be long, but for how pricey Sunday Riley products are, I think it’s necessary. My skin has a love/hate relationship with retinol, and the one I had been using prior to the Luna oil was leaving my skin raw, patchy and dry. I came across this kit on Sephora and did a little researching into Sunday Riley products and after reading so many great reviews, I was intrigued and had to at least give these products a try. Let me start by saying I LOVE the Luna oil. It’s like I get all of the positive results of using a retinol, minus the usual issues that come along with it for me. The oil is light, smells herbal, and settles into the skin pretty well. As far as results go, I wasn’t one of those people that woke up the next day with amazing wonderful glowing skin. My results were much more subtle in the first few weeks, probably because I never took care of my 27 year old sun damaged skin much before this. However, after a couple of weeks, I started noticing my skin was SO SMOOTH (most dramatic result of these products), I didn’t have any blackheads on my chin, my acne scars were lightening a bit, my normal 3-4 zits I’ve always had on my face were dwindling, hyperpigmentation was improving. I was impressed. After 5 weeks, those results have continued to be more noticeable and I now have zero acne on my face, with my scars from prior breakouts fading. I’ve used up the entire bottle of good genes and I would absolutely recommend the product, it works and it works WELL. However, I wanted to find something more affordable that would work just as well, and have found that in another product containing a higher concentration of AHA/BHA for less money. Also, fair warning, the good genes smells awful. I can’t even describe the scent other than saying it just reeks. Thankfully, the smell dies down shortly after applying. Overall, the Luna oil will always be a HG for me, and this kit is a great value. I would definitely recommend this product.

Yes, it's a little pricy. Luna the retinol oil is my favourite retinol I have ever tried. No redness, no flakiness, no irritation. The good genes is hydrating to the point of almost not needing a moisturizer (but I do use one to lock in all the goodness at night). I noticed a difference in my skins texture almost immediately when I started using it. This has become a part of my regular routine and will be a part of my Sephora sale repurchases.

Great combo of products that is easy on skin!
3 May 2022

I wanted to try this duo for a while and am so glad that I did. I've tried The Ordinary retinol and lactic acid in the past. Both of those products from The Ordinary made me breakout, so I was hesitant about spending the extra money for the same category of products, but these have done wonders for my skin. I use both products at night; I apply the Luna serum first and then wait a few minutes to apply the Good Genes, as indicated by the directions provided with the products. Then I apply my regular moisturizer over both products. I only apply the Good Genes product in the morning, first thing after I wash my face or get out of the shower. I wake up with clear, bright, moisturized skin. Throughout the day I feel like my skin is getting an extra layer of moisture.

Great value
2 October 2023

These two products are expensive on their own so this pack was a great buy. Especially to try them for the first time. The Luna oil leaves my skin feeling beautiful. The blue colouring is not my favourite thing but the medicinal smell I quite like. I have broken out a little bit but I’ve just reduced the regularity of how much I’m using it. The Good Genes also feels amazing on my face. Definitely wait until the Luna oil soaks in completely before putting good genes on if using together. Otherwise you can use them separate. Sometimes I’ll put Luna on at night and Good Genes on in the morning under my sunscreen before my makeup. Overall I love these products but due to price would use them as treatment products. Probably two to three times a week only,

My Yearly Repurchase
29 March 2023

I have been using this duo for more than 5 years now. It was the only miracle that helped my face survive a very bad case of adult chicken pox. This helped fill out my scars, even out pigmentation and erase any sign of what may have happened to my face. The retinol is strong on its own but simply works magic when paired with the lactic acid. I cannot recommend this enough. Now since my usually behaves itself, I use it during times I feel like my face needs some extra TLC, making this product a yearly repurchase.

My nighttime routine in 2 bottles
5 January 2022

Wow oh wow.I’ve been using Good Genes for a while now, and while I haven’t noticed big changes, it’s definitely done the job of improving my skin texture. So I decided to buy this set so I could try out the Luna as well.Seriously, I have NEVER understood what people mean when they say their skin looks so fresh and plump overnight until now. I actually look good the next morning. I look rested, my skin looks rejuvenated, I look like I’ve been using a good anti-aging routine!Honestly, my verdict is to get the set! It’s also actually very good value for money when compared to the full size (and how often does that happen??)

Stinging Sensation
12 August 2023

Was very excited and was hoping to see results as those who raved about this. Perhaps it’s me but when I used Good Genes, there is a stinging sensation and it causes me to itch. Good Genes is rather bad smelling too. Luna oil is slightly better - it does moisturise but it has an unusual smell which is acceptable to me. I have stopped using Good Genes, will continue with Luna. But won’t repeat purchase.

Bought these to try as I had not used AHAs or retinol before. Super love Good Genes as it really helped to smoothen the dry patchy areas and even my skin tone. I have combi & sensitive skin but GG was really effective without causing irritations. I rem waking up every morning and my skin felt so smooth after cleansing. Helped make up to glide on much better too.For Luna, I tried using it for 2 whole weeks but didn’t really see much effect. Also it made my skin feel really greasy after application, didn’t seem to absorb well into skin. In fact it kinda broke me out a couple of times the next morning. Had tried picking it up again to use a couple more times, but still didnt see any difference. Now the bottle is just sitting on my dressing table unused. Would recommend giving it a go!

I know some people swear by the Good Genes serum and yes I do love it, I just don't know if it makes *that* much of a difference to my skin. It can sting a little when you first apply it (I usually enjoy that feeling because it lets me know it's working!). The smell is fantastic. I really love the Luna Night Oil and truly could not live without it. I love the theatre of a blue oil and it smells like liquorice - a very unique skincare product! I wanted to try these because of all the hype around Sunday Riley's Good Genes, and I don't regret. I'll continue purchasing these items as a part of my night routine.
