No matter what I cook in Staub it is by far superior to any other cast iron. The lids are heavier. Way better than le creuset for holding in heat. I make the best brisket ever. The secret is not in the recipe . Its the pot. I have the oval 7 qt and have made soup stove top. Came out great. Roasted chicken comes out tender even if you cook it too long as long as the lid stays on.

This is biggest cocotte that I ever own. It allowed me to cook bigger batch stew or soup! Although this is a “B” or “visual imperfections” product, It cooked the same wonderful taste as other cocotte. I can spot a small black dot on the lid, and also small uneven surface on the bottom of the cocotte. Both doesn’t affect cooking at all! I received it about 8 days counting from the day i ordered.

I ordered this pot in Sage. My first impression when opening it is that I received the wrong color. The actual sage color is much darker than the mint green shown online. It’s still a very pretty color though so I decided to keep it. I really enjoy using this piece of cookware. It’s easier to handle than a widener Dutch oven, and it’s become a frequently used item in my kitchen. I’ve used it to bread in the oven, on the stovetop for chicken and dumplings, and recently to deep fry home made sesame balls. Overall I consider it a very versatile piece in my kitchen Arsenal!

I received my Deep Cocotte today in Sage, and was surprised when I pulled it out of the box. The enamel is different than all my other Staub products. I see someone else reviewed it as one star for this reason, noting that it was poor quality control. However, after looking at the photos online, it's supposed to look this way. It reminds me of an Easter egg. It is very speckled looking, with the darker undercoat showing through. I wish the color had been described better, but I still think it's very pretty.
While this is a gorgeous Dutch oven, it also performs exceptionally well too. There’s no comparison between my Staub and my old PC brand. Looking forward to using this for years to come!PS if you can find one with a visual imperfection you can save a buck, mine was barely noticeable and would not impact the performance
My mom got me the Staub Dutch oven while I lived overseas. It was too heavy to ship or put in my luggage so I waited until I came home to use it. Because it was Staub brand from William Sonoma, I didn’t think to check it. I opened it and there are 2 chips in the enamel on the bottom. I planned to have this for the rest of my life but there’s no telling how the heat will make it continue to crack or chip. William Sonoma said they couldn’t replace it. I understand I was out of the return period, but you should continue to sell quality products only and this isn’t ok.
I love the Staub cocotte. It is a high quality product and the 28cm pot is large enough to cater for a large family. It looks beautiful and I can’t believe how well everything cooks in it. The design features dimples in the lid which act to baste and keep all moisture in the food. I absolutely recommend the Staub cocotte.
Winter is the time of the year that I start looking towards one pot wonders. The reason I chose this French Oven is for its clever design for self basting as there are dimples inverted on the lid which aids droplets to form and fall onto your food while it cooks. Hence self basting leaves your meat so tender and pull apart ready. Guaranteed to cook evenly in the cast iron which locks in flavour.
This Cocotte is hardy, beautiful to cook with and produces awesome, tender food. I bought this smaller size to make less substantial portions for say two people, yet you can easily cook enough for four in it. Everything I have cooked so far in it, from stews, Osso Bucco and even a cake, have been moist and tender. The sturdy construction and unique dimples on the underside of the lid ensure that this quality cookware will last a lifetime in your kitchen.
I love this cookware. It is unbelievable great quality. It’s so heavy and made very well. I made chicken and orzo in it, it cooked beautifully and tasted so good. A great choice. Just a warning, this is a very heavy piece
