This unit has the ability to increase productivity and connect more devices to your computer, or avoid the hassle of swapping connected devices on your port-limited laptop. The unit lets fast charge one device while allowing you more peripheral attachment to your laptop or work station. This is a great unit to assist in the elimination of clutter on the work surface. I've tried many USB3 hubs and most get the job done. But this one stands out in a few ways:0. Corny, yes, but the consistent StarTech look helps tie other devices on the desk into this one.1. Dedicated power switch. Yes, it's trivial to some, but in those instances where it would make life easier than disconnecting and dropping power behind a desk.... feel for the switch, and done. :)2. Small footprint, but not flimsy or so tiny as to get dragged around. The rubberized bottom prevented too much slide.3. The USB-A and USB-C port combo. Most devices have ONE USB-C port. This has two. The 5 A and 2 C port combo means using ONE hub instead of two.4. Included power adapter is 4A. So charging via this hub is not a power concern...Now... that same power adapter ... I use the StarTech 4-Port USB-C Hub - Portable USB-C to connect my Alesis keyboard to my Asus tablet. I have a Piano learning app, installed on my tablet. The recognition, of the notes I am playing from the piano app, is highly reliable
It allows me to hook up to a USB-C Port. Which gives me more ports because the new laptop only comes with 3 USB-c ports on it and one is for power.
This device connects well to our Macbook Pro. It is great.
