So, what makes this one special??Packaging is simple, speaker comes with a charge cable (no wall AC adaptor) and instruction booklet.I compared the audio to battery powered speakers and a few AC powered just to see how it compared. I do like the fact that it does look like it needs to be vertical to perform the best but it can be used in both orientations and not inhibit the music quality. I do feel the detachable multi-way strap will be super handy, from hanging on the back corner of a chair, to securing it somewhere in a golf cart, possibilities are endless if you wanted to bring music along on your adventures. The ULT button does make ... MoreI do have a few portable bluetooth speakers and while they all promote having unique features, they are all the same product. I do feel the detachable multi-way strap will be super handy, from hanging on the back corner of a chair, to securing it somewhere in a golf cart, possibilities are endless if you wanted to bring music along on your adventures. The ULT button does make a considerable difference in the volume and bass levels, selecting and unselecting makes a noticeable difference. I do prefer the ULT button on while using this speaker for a more complete audio experience. Keep in mind this will significantly decrease the estimated 12 hour battery line, higher volume and ULT on will shrink battery life to 3-4 hours. They promote a grab and go, take it anywhere especially outside, built to last speaker. I would agree with all of these points and the speaker does feel well built, has some weight to it and the design of having the IP67 certification gives you the ability to use this in basically all conditions and environments without worry.Set up and pairing with an iPhone was seamless and quick, it does have an app if you are the type to customize but out of the box this speaker performs nicely.Sony vs. Soundcore Motion X600Full Disclosure the spatial audio on this speaker is fantastic so its sorta an unfair comparison BUT the Sony does hold its own factoring in all ranges and bass. For most stationary settings I still prefer the Soundcore.Sony vs. Marshall Action IIIVolume on the Marshall is on a whole other level but averaging volume between the two you notice subtle differences in the way these speakers broadcast sound.Sony touts their Sound Diffusion Processor and like above compared to the Soundcore, it does try to fill a room with sound but just canât keep up with either speaker in that regard. This speaker is smaller by about half so factoring in still how loud it can get is impressive. To be more detailed its a good loud, not a distorted turn it down ASAP loud! The size would have me grabbing this speaker vs the Soundcore for more mobile adventures.Overall the features align with all the outdoor focused options - generous battery life when maintaining volume levels, rugged design with IP67 ratings, ability to pair with another for stereo audio and decent call talk through. This speaker is a total package!

The unboxing was just the start of a premium experience. Someone put some thought into this as before you even use it, you feel and see a premium product that is presented professionally. When I removed it from the box, I was not sure how much battery charge it had, but I wanted to try it immediately and it did have enough for about 45 minutes of listening before I plugged it in for recharge. I have not had it long enough to know how long the battery lasts, so I will not speak to their claim of 12 hours, but like every other battery powered speaker, the louder you listen, the shorter the battery life. The USB-C charging port is behind a rubber plug that is tight enough to withstand splashes, but I would not put it underwater or subject it to water pressure. They say it is IP 67 rated which means you can use it near splashing water, but not submerge it. The instructions talk about dusting it off and cleaning the speaker covering if it gets dirty, but I would not put it under running water if I had to clean it. The controls are pretty straightforward with on/off, Bluetooth indicator, pause and play, volume up, volume down, and the ULT button that really makes this speaker shine with CLEAN bass boost. It is not boomy like other similar size speakers. My only nitpick is that when switching the ULT button off and on, it makes a tone sound while attenuating the music. It is a bit annoying, but I leave the ULT on all the time, so no big deal. Connecting with Bluetooth is a snap and anyone who has paired Bluetooth devices will have no problem. The ends of the speaker are where the woofers are located and they sound far better if the speaker is horizontal so both are open to produce sound. It can stand on one end, but you lose some bass in this position. Make sure to download Sony Music Center to have more control over this speaker. I tried receiving a phone call on it, but it was too far away and the caller could not hear me well, likely because of distance from the microphone. It was clear on my end, so I need to try this again. I have not drop tested it yet, but it looks rugged enough and will likely withstand a drop from 3 or 4 feet without damage due to the contruction and the materials it is built from. Another nitpick is the carry strap is a double cord with a knot tied in the end. While functional, I think it detracts from the overall look and feel of premium that they obviously were going for in this speaker. I also own a JBL Flip 6 and this speaker is similar in size, but about an inch longer. It beats the JBL hands down - no comparison in sound quality - especially in bass response! All in all, this is a great sounding speaker and highly recommended.

The ULT Power Sound Field 1 Speaker is very nicely packaged with 100% fully recyclable materials packaging, which is always nice to see.A USB to C Charger Cable is supplied along with the Speaker itself and before attempting to go any further I put the Speaker on Charge, although I thought the charger cable could have been just a little bit longer.Once on charge, I found it very quick and easy to set up, I already have the Sony App on my I-Phone so it was just a case of opening the Sony Music Center App and simply selecting add a new device, then by connecting it to my I-phone via Blue Tooth, set up was completed literally in a few seconds. Although the optional software update took a few minutes to complete, I reckon it was worth getting that over and done with ... MoreThe ULT Power Sound Field 1 Speaker is very nicely packaged with 100% fully recyclable materials packaging, which is always nice to see.A USB to C Charger Cable is supplied along with the Speaker itself and before attempting to go any further I put the Speaker on Charge, although I thought the charger cable could have been just a little bit longer.Once on charge, I found it very quick and easy to set up, I already have the Sony App on my I-Phone so it was just a case of opening the Sony Music Center App and simply selecting add a new device, then by connecting it to my I-phone via Blue Tooth, set up was completed literally in a few seconds. You can then choose to stream your favourite music via Spotify, Amazon Music, I-Tunes, or even You Tube for example.WOW, I didnât appreciate what the ULT function actually did until I pushed the ULT Button on top of the speaker and I was blown away with the deep powerful BASS, what an amazing sound from such a small speaker. At only around 8 inches long and 3inches wide this compact but rugged looking speaker sits nicely on my kitchen window and certainly grabbed my attention when I heard the Powerful ULT beat blasting out my favourite music, thanks to the twin end speakers from which you can actually feel the vibe. The speaker sounds absolutely fine without ULT but I do think this function makes a big difference to the overall sound quality which seemed to me to be approaching surround sound if the volume is up high enough. A very impressive feature, which I use all the time now, although not sure yet if this reduces the 12hour battery life, I donât care as its so much better with it on.I have to say it looks pretty neat sitting on my kitchen window, but also looks equally at home in our Sunroom when relaxing to music, or even while entertaining friends in the garden on a nice sunny day.I think this speaker will really come in to its own on holiday either in our caravan, or in more likely in my carry on bag. At only 650 grammes its light enough, small enough and looks strong enough to survive a bit of rough handling at the airport.I look forward to taking it with me on my next holiday where I will be able to listen to my very own music in the privacy of my Hotel Room or in my Cruise Ship Cabin or perhaps even on the beach as its also dust and waterproof.Whatâs not to like?I am not struck on the rope carrying handle, to be honest, however I tucked the extra bits in and prefer this look, however do appreciate there may be times where you might need to hang it up (while camping for example) so can see why Sony have went for this option which may suit some folks better. To be fair, if you do hang it up, rather than stand it on a solid surface, as I do, the sound output is actually even more striking.Overall I have to say I am very pleased and impressed with my new travel companion.

The ULT Field 1 was 80 percent charged right out of the box and paired very easily so I was able to start using it right away. The Sony Music Center app is not required for play, but I highly recommend it to help keep the speakerâs software up to date and for the additional performance and control functions. With the app, you can equalize the output to your liking, let it serve as âone-stopâ access for your music and music apps, and control the speaker remotely. This speaker does get quite loud, but Iâd mostly use it in small to medium sized rooms with ceilings no taller than 12 feet, and intimate outside areas. The sound quality isnât as loud at its loudest settings in larger rooms or too wide of an outside range, but thatâs what Iâd expect from what I consider a personal speaker. With its signature Sony bass, sharp midi-tones and clear treble, if you paired two of these speakers together, then thatâd be a whole other story! When depressed to on, the âULTâ button definitely gives you that bass that you can really feel, especially with certain genres of music. As for battery life, I left the speaker playing music overnight starting around 7pm and at 8:30am the next morning, it was at 20 percent. I didnât start with a full charge, so Iâd say Sonyâs 12-hour claim is a valid one.Standing vertically, the Sony ULT Field 1 is the same height as my 24-ounce insulated water bottle and just barely wider so I can hold it in my hand easily. In its horizontal position, itâs no wider than the width of a standard letter envelope and no taller than the average bottle of nail polish. The included adjustable (and removable) nylon cord is thick, sturdy and securely knotted so thereâs no worry that itâll wear thin or snap anytime soon. And it supports the speakerâs weight without stretching whether itâs being used as a carrying strap or hanging from a hook. Though Iâd have preferred the Field 1 in black, the forest gray color looks very nice with the speakerâs design. The construction seems very durable with solid endcaps and a rubberized material protecting the radiators, the USB-C charging port, and the control buttons that I believe helps the claim that the speaker is waterproof, shockproof, and dustproof.Final verdict: I think the ULT Field 1 is a great portable speaker thatâs aesthetically pleasing and well-constructed with a more than decent battery life. And the best part for me is that Sony didnât skimp on the Bass!
Most people seem to have at least 2-3 bluetooth speakers laying around their house and I can say that I am no different. Bluetooth speakers have come a long way since there first iteration. Trying to get decent bass out of a small portable speaker was usually difficult however companies like Sony continued to develop their speaker technology so we can have masterpieces like the ULT Field 1 wireless speaker. This speaker features a ULT button which essentially is a bass booster. You can notice quite a difference in the bass when the ULT button is off. The speaker can be charged via USB C and connecting to your device is as easy as connecting any bluetooth device. The speaker can be charged via USB C and connecting to your device is as easy as connecting any bluetooth device. Once I had my speaker charged and connected I proceeded to play some bass heavy music and I was floored by the quality of bass that came out the speaker. The speaker uses what is referred to as a sound diffusion processor to create big sound from a little package. The speaker is IP67 rated which means it can withstand dust and some water without any issues or rusting. You don't have to second guess taking the speaker to the park or the beach as you will have nothing to worry about. The speaker is also shockproof so it can survive an occasional fall or bump. The speaker can last about 12 hours on a full charge and I can attest to that since ai have not been able to drain the battery yet while working in my backyard. You can use the strap to carry the speaker or hang it up which is what I did while using it in the yard. One feature that I have not been able to test is the ability to link 2 speakers together because it us currently sold out at Bestbuy. I am patiently waiting for my second speaker because if 1 speaker can deliver such great sound then I can only imagine how 2 will sound. You can also use the speaker for phone calls as it does feature echo cancelling. I did use it for a zoom call and everyone on the other end said the sound was coming through clearly. If you are in the market for a portable bluetooth speaker with great sound quality then I would not hesitate to recommend the Sony ULT field 1.
The Sony ULT wireless speaker has been a great personal speaker with a long battery life. I use a personal speaker nearly every day to listen to podcasts, audiobooks, and music. Iâve used it for 5 days anywhere between 20 min to 2 hrs per day and have only needed to charge it once. The Sony Music Center app says itâs currently at 80% battery.A very practical feature that I enjoy about this Sony speaker is that itâs portable and waterproof so I can place it on the edge of my shower and not really worry about it getting splashed with a little bit of water. I can also hang it on a towel hook with the included strap. I like that it can sit flat or on its side, itâs basically the size of a water cup so it fits neatly on my desk.I feel that the sound is good, but more ... MoreThe Sony ULT wireless speaker has been a great personal speaker with a long battery life. Even when the ULT bass boosting button was not turned on, the bass was a bit too much for me on the default mode. I went into the sound settings on the Music Center App to tinker with the levels and was able to get the speaker to sound a little more to my liking. While listening to some music, I picked up a phone call and enjoyed a clear call. This wireless speaker has echo-canceling technology and a built-in microphone. This was very convenient because I didnât have to disconnect the speaker and when I was done with the call, I seamlessly went back to listening to music. The volume button seems like it has more levels of adjustment than my phone, so I feel like I can change the volume little by little, which I think is a great feature. Listening to podcasts and audiobooks means that the ânextâ button skips forward 15 seconds and I love that I can access that feature by double pressing the play/pause button.I think this is a great speaker for people who prefer an artificially bass boosted listening experience. This will continue to be my daily speaker for the foreseeable future because it has a ton of features that I do like and the battery life has proven to be long-lasting.
The Sony SRS-ULT10 is a small, portable yet powerful smart speaker. It seamlessly connects to my phone and my Walkman, whichever I choose to use at the time. Initial connection to both was very quick and easy, quickly picking up both phone and Walkman with no connection requests or long delays searching. The sound quality is above what you would expect from a small portable speaker. Pressing the ULT button brings your music alive with rich, deep base when you want or need it, and by switching it off you get smooth, clear sound as you would expect to hear. The deep base dose not distort until you get to maximum volume, which is very loud so there is no real need to go that far. The deep base dose not distort until you get to maximum volume, which is very loud so there is no real need to go that far. The sound is spatial, very clear when listening to music outside, easily controlled from your device or by the 6 buttons on the speaker, ULT, power and Bluetooth have their own light to show when on. Green for power, blue as expected for Bluetooth and depending upon viewing angle a light green/yellow or pale purple for ULT when on or a darker green, blue of purple when it is off.The ULT Field 1 when connected to Sony music centre links with all of the library's and music apps on my phone and easily and quickly switches between them, again giving control when ever I want it, with what ever device I am using and where ever I am.The speaker is robust, having rolled it off a table top whilst playing music. No damage what so ever to the speaker and more importantly there was no distortion or loss of connection with my phone as the music played. The speaker comes with a handy lace boot lace type carrying strap, though the shape of the speaker makes it comfortable to hold in your hand rather than use the boot lace strap. The two rubber covered speakers one at each end are a source of amusement, stand the device on its end, place a tic-tac on the rubber cover, put your favourite music on ang watch the tic-tac bounce around, turn up the volume and it will throw the tic-tac out. Beats Mexican jumping beans any day.Overall a great little speaker, good sounds, far better than expected, very responsive and easy to use, connect and carry around.
I don't know what caused Sony to dedicate itself to figuring out how to pack as much bass response as they possibly could into the smallest speakers possible, but clearly they were not satisfied with their previous efforts with the XB series. With the ULT Field they appear to have designed a portable twin subwoofer, then figured out how to stick a couple tweeters into the middle. I don't know if you can necessarily call the sound that results it the most accurate audio reproduction available, but the rich tones that result are undeniably satisfying. So yeah. It sounds good, and if you turn it up all the way the bass tones might be powerful enough to shake out any fillings you have in your teeth. Sony has definitely accomplished everything they set out to do, and you probably already know if this is the kind of speaker that appeals to you or not. How'd they do with the rest?As it turns out, rather well. The speaker strikes a pretty good balance between being big enough to produce decent audio and being portable enough to carry around in a backpack. The frame is sturdy, the materials all feel very high quality, and the adjustable carrying strap is versatile enough to offer plenty of options for lashing it to your gear. Only potential downside is the fact that both subs fire out the sides, meaning that anything pushing in on either end could potentially damage one. I don't think it would be easy - every effort has clearly been made to make these parts as rugged as possible and the protective frame at each end should protect it from larger hazards. But It still feels vulnerable enough that I'm kind of surprised it didn't come with a carrying case of some sort.Overall I'd have to say this is a very good option for parties, camping, biking, or any other lovers of low frequency vibration on the go.
SONY ULT FIELD 1As a hifi enthusiast, if not purist, I was a little apprehensive opening up this interesting little Sony boombox. How could anything so small and portable measure up to the expectation of a demanding and discerning audiophile?Well surprise - it measures up rather well in the circumstances. All I had to do is turn off the ULT bass enhancer to enjoy quite pleasurable sounds easily reproduced via bluetooth testing from my phone sources including the BBC Sounds Radio 3 and the incredibly useful classical library on the idagio app which provides streaming and downloads in hi resolution formats like FLAC.Sonyâs ULT Field 1 is really aimed at a different listener so in the interests of gaining a fully rounded impression I switched on the ULT bass ... MoreSONY ULT FIELD 1As a hifi enthusiast, if not purist, I was a little apprehensive opening up this interesting little Sony boombox. All I had to do is turn off the ULT bass enhancer to enjoy quite pleasurable sounds easily reproduced via bluetooth testing from my phone sources including the BBC Sounds Radio 3 and the incredibly useful classical library on the idagio app which provides streaming and downloads in hi resolution formats like FLAC.Sonyâs ULT Field 1 is really aimed at a different listener so in the interests of gaining a fully rounded impression I switched on the ULT bass boost, switched to Radio 1 and oomph - enough sound blast to keep a dance party raving. Without the ULT button on, it sounded thinner. So switching back to BBC Radio 3, the source music seemed richer without ULT, to my ear little troubling distortion and a clear enough sound to handle a full-on Norwegian brass band, human voice spoken and sung, and subtle strings. The first surprise when I was setting up the speakers, as soon as I linked to the Sony Music Centre it switched to a firmware update which was completely effortlessly. The second surprise was Sony Music Centreâs options - a custom equaliser to adjust bass middle and treble frequencies adds a useful layer of versatility. The option for Bluetooth to aim for sound quality over signal reliability might prove useful in some circumstances. The ULT FIELD 1 is designed to cope with a range of adverse circumstances. Outdoors when the rain starts pouring down, or inside a shower cubicle, it is designed to be water resistant. The design is both aesthetically pleasing and effectively robust with thick rubber corners to protect from knocks; the textured mesh body is both tactile and functional. The soft touch push buttons are a good size so easy to use. A string strap can be adjusted by is handy if you need to hang the device from a hook. There is a robust seal (remember to secure it well) for battery charging. I charged up the device and it would last all day - well certainly fulfilling my needs. Iâm not sure what a full volume bass boost party sound would do to battery longevity, but my guess is that it would stay the course. All in all found this well designed, providing a quality of sound I hadnât expected in such a small bundle, and a very handle portable when linked with my phone providing music and sound wherever you want.*A final surprise - the ULT Field 1 has a double life as a telephone remote conference call speaker. Using it on a call it provided volume and clarity for everyone in the room. The voice pick up worked better for closer voices but it is perhaps asking too much to imagine handling multiple sourced voices in a busy room.
Wow! this is a special speaker. I have about 5 different smart speakers and this is just about as good as it gets. It may be small, and fits very comfortably in the hand, but it certainly packs a punch. It is very well designed, with a cylindrical shape that has flattened, squared-off sides to prevent it from rolling off surfaces, and feels tough and sturdy enough to be taken on the most adventurous outings. Its pleasing mesh and adjustable cord handles all say âtake me with you wherever you are goingâYou can stand it up on end, lay it down horizontally or hang it from a branch, none of these options seem to get in the way of its solid pleasing sound, and reassuringly it has a serious rubber cap over the USB charging port.Portability is at the forefront of the ... MoreWow! this is a special speaker. It even has its own button on the speaker for its bass boosting function. This essentially works like an amplifier and EQ combined, adding extra energy to the low-end.Iâm not sure what ULT stands for but if itâs ultimate then thats OK with me.After a number of hours of testing both indoors and outdoors in my garden at the end of the day, I found the ULT Field 1 sound to be great despite its size and when pressed the ULT button brings an extra layer of oomph to music and audio of many kinds. You really don't need to play it any higher than at about half the volume, especially if ULT is enabled, as the sound will fill a room with ease, and you do have to think about the neighbours after all. Even outdoors, the ULT Field 1 doesn't need to hit its fullest volume potential. Its sound is crisp, punchy, warm, and full of deep bass. Classical, jazz, rock, and even electronic music all performed well.I didnât test battery life too scientifically but found it more that acceptable for my usage. To sum up, this is a rather special speaker with incredible sound in a lightweight, compact and sturdy form that is obviously built to last. I can easily see the ULT Field 1 becoming my go-to travel companion.
