Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones MDR-NC7

Great sound quality. Very comfortable to wear. Look and feel very cool. I really enjoy all aspects of these headphones. They are greave value for money and deliver a high quality sound. I’d def buy again. My kids love them too.

My coworker has these they are the best cuz when there's a TV on in our break room it cancels out a lot of stuff. He's this is not a joke this is real he said he also bought these because he still shares a house with his ex-wife and when she screaming at me he just puts these on. And also she bought herself a pair so she would have to listen to him either funny story. Good review by the way.

I'm very pleased with these. I keep headphones on quite a bit lately and I really like this brand. . These earphones are crystal clear, and you have to take them off to hear with your own ears as they truly block out all of the outside noise. Handy if you meditate. Because I use them so much I also love the mouthpiece. I can take calls on my cellphone without worry. For the quality, these are very affordable!

The Sony MDRNC7BLK noise cancelling headphones are extremely comfortable. Having had an earlier Sony headphone I was impressed by the noise cancellation improvements as well as the comfort and durability of their new models. The sound was crisp and clear and listening on an airplane was a huge improvement on noise reductions while listening to my favorite music. These are easily as good as more expensive products.

My son loves these headphones. They are clear and definitely keep out the outside noise so he doesn't become distracted from his games. Comfortable on his head and they don't slip or move around much which he likes. The noise canceling feature is his favorite on these.

Fantastic headphones!! It is so refreshing to not have to hall chords around. The sound is amazing and I especially love the noise canceling option. In my opinion it is well worth the money. I have always loved Sony products. Will buy again for sure.

I would rate this as a B+ grade product with the Sony label.

This product is OK, but the plastic headband connections to the earphones are the weakest links, as a previous product I owned (identical to this) broke at each connector, and they are non-repairable and non-replaceable. In other words, the headphone set is very fragile and requires careful handling and storage. The sound quality is acceptable, and the noise cancelling feature also permits a more treble range to be heard, especially when listening to music.

Not bad headphones.

They are decent headphones. I like everything about them, but the audio quality is not that great. There is absolutley no bass at all when the noise cancelation is switched off, but when switched on there is some bass and it's pretty ballenced with the trebble. They are powered by a single AAA battery which is nice and the battery life of the NC is long lasting.

They are not designed to block the sound of your annoying cubicle mate talking on the phone. Just FYI.

Very Poor Sound Quality, Active Noise Cancellation completely Ineffective

Cheap in-situ ear buds ($5) in combination with noise protection safety style headset ($10) provides vastly greater sound quality than the Sony MDR-NC7 ANR Headset I bought mine new. Cons: There is very little passive noise reduction. In a noisy environment, without the ANR switch turned on, it is almost useless. In-situ Ear Buds (the type that go in the ear) are by FAR more effective. Mostly above the audible range, but you feel a discomfort like there is always a pressure present. The ANR is very ineffective. And similarly as when the ANR switch is turned off, in-situ Ear Buds (the type that go in the ear) are by FAR more effective. I found that my cheap in-situ ear buds and wearing my safety hearing protection headset, provided far superior sound quality and greatly better ambient noise immunity. I had the headset for about 6 months and found the hinge had broken, while stored in my computer bag. I had no memory for what I did to cause the hinge to break. I used a coat hanger to bend up a fix that lasted for at least 3 years stored in the same case. Either a freak condition or a factory defect; I could not tell you which. The switch is exposed and often is switched on inside its carry sack, causing the battery to be drained. So when putting the headset away the battery must always be removed. Pro: The headset collapses into a relatively thin form factor so it can easily be transported. The ear cushions are high quality materials and after 3 years of weekly use, has not shown any sign of degradation. The aesthetic look is pleasant. Though the strain relief and wire is thin, there has been no observable wear and the headset works reliably. But so has my cheap in-situ ear buds. My choice of in-situ ear buds or the On-the-Ear headset depends upon the ambient temperature and level of local humidity. The On-the-Ear headset allows my ears to breath more than the ear buds. Summary When comparing sound quality, the baseline I use is in-situ ear buds covered by a noise protection safety ear protection headset, a combined cost of $15. Every other headset whether or not using ANR (noise cancelling or active noise reduction) must produce similar or better sound quality to score well. The MDR-NC7 does not even come close to expected sound quality. Durability is questionable. But after the repair the durability has been quite good. For a cushioned headset, it folds up nicely into a narrow shape..
