The Sony 15mm F1.4 G is one of the best, if not the best, lens for APS-C ever produced. The build quality is great and it feels nice in hands. The body is not metal but it is quality thick plastic (this is mainly to reduce the weight). It has full features including aperture ring (which is rare), the click/de-click switch, a custom button, etc. It has everything you could have asked for a premium lens, especially on this relatively light and compact body. My marketing team rented this lens to get wide shots of some of our venue's live shows and of the theatre's spaces, and it was such great quality. The lens worked great with our Sony body, and the photos came out incredible. The lens showed up in perfect condition. 10/10!

If you're an APS shooter, the Sony 15mm f1.4 or the Sigma 16mm t1.4 lens should be on your primary list. I waited for this lens to drop down in price and decided to grab the opportunity when BH advertised it for $100 less than its original list price. I chose this lens over the Sigma because it's more compact with a filter size of only 55mm and the Sigma 67mm. The Sony lens is more expensive even on sale! And if you're on a budget, the Sigma is a good lens to have. Both of these lenses are very sharp, have good contrast and fast focus. Here are a few photo samples of my artist friends that I took with the Sony 15mm f1.4 at the Cornerstone Winter Open Studios. I have their written consent to share these photos for this review.
This APSC lens with its low aperture, gives you some amazing pictures with great bokeh. Even when you do videos and your subject is in focus, the bokeh behind your subject is absolutely immaculate. I have run it on my Sony ZVE 10 as well as my Sony A7R3. On my full frame camera it is a 1.5 times zoom making the lens a 22.5 focal length. Does very well on full frame with that length. 
I have paired this with an a6600 on several occasions for live music B-roll video capture. The combination of high lens speed and HLG color profile, the picture quality has exceeded what I would have expected, given the challenging live music environment and limitations of 8-bit bandwidth. For either video or photography, the speed of this lens helps extend the low light limits of an APS-C camera. For photography, the extra depth of fields is pleasant and quite useful for creative shots. This is a great and surprisingly versatile lens. I'll be hanging on to this one.
This is a fantastic wide angle for Sony ASP-C cameras. Nice and sharp throughout different apertures. Great lens for landscapes or dramatic portraiture. Also great for video with the declicking switch feature and on lens aperture selection. An AF/MF switch and assignable focus hold button rounds out the excellent features of this lens.
Perfect walk-around lens. Very light, sharp, and fast! Bulid quality is excellent! At first, I was hesistant because of the price, but it went down $100 off, that made me decide to buy it. A lot of features in a small lens. I'm glad Sony made this lens. Hopefully, this year they release a 24-70mm lens for APS-C.
It's a light, small but powerful lens. It's great in low-light shooting conditions and a livestreaming setup. It's a 15mm f/1.4 lens, so you get an excellent wide-angle field of view—an advantage when livestreaming. Overall, I’m finding it a good quality lens. If you are considering the price point of this lens, consider the value you get from this excellent compact beast.

However, I could never get past the nonlinear focus motors/ring.If you're a narrative filmmaker, you understand how crucial repeatable focus pulls are. If it can also do autofocus seamlessly, that's just a plus for certain use cases (Gimbal work, filming without a 1st AC to pull focus with a wireless follow focus).Therefore, when I saw this lens, although still pricier than the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 after the discount, I decided to bite the Sony bullet and have never looked back since.I absolutely adore this lens. It's phenomenally smooth. The focus ring is pretty smooth too, but the aperture ring takes the cake (at least for my unit, others may have a different experience).This lens works beautifully with my a6500, and cannot wait to use it with an FX30, once I upgrade this summer.So far, I have used this lens for urban street and architecture photography, a narrative short (with an a7IV in crop mode), and dance video inside of a relatively small studio.It has been an absolute workhorse in each of these use cases.Just get it. You won't regret it. This is it.
