Sony A7R III A Camera - Body Only

This is one of the best bang for the buck Mirrorless cameras on the market. A $2k (cheaper with sales right now) camera that packs a large majority of abilities $4k+ cameras have. Even current ones coming out. Only thing it may lack, but really at this point doesn't matter is MP. 24MP is great, really not many people Pro or Amature alike will need more. The rest of the abilities of the camera are insane for the price. Even compared to some of the new Medium Format Mirrorless cameras that just came out and are $5k but have worse abilities then this camera. Only Con I can think of is really not the cameras fault directly. But more that it's a Sony product so things like Extra Lens are going to be Expensive for it. Coming from an android phone user, I have been comfortable enough to take pictures with the ease of use of camera phones when I go hiking and traveling throughout my military career. After using actual photo editing software and realizing the difference in megapixels that I was lacking with my camera phone to an actual high end camera, I realized I needed something more robust and professional to what I wanted to do. My passion is landscape photography and this camera doesn't disappoint. The level of detail that you get after cropping the photo is breathtaking. I love the fact that I can also crop a photo to fit the narrative and style of composition that I want after taking a second look at the photo on a big screen monitor. I have tried the Canon 80D previously and still wasn't impressed by the quality of the photo that I was looking for. 42 megapixel is plenty of what I wanted and being able to zoom into photos and not lose sharpness is great especially with landscape photography. One thing that I wish was different is the grip system and would have loved to get the Sony a7IV for that but the price and package that B&H provided for this camera when I bought it is something I could not pass up. I got a 42 megapixel camera $400 cheaper than a 33 megapixel camera. To also include a 16-35mm f/2.8 lens, messenger bag, extra battery and SD card for $4,700 is something you won't be able to find anywhere else unless you look for used equipment. Even then, used/new on B&H is only a $200-$300 difference. This camera kit has definitely made me happy and would recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for more sharpness in their pictures and the satisfaction to know that you have bought into a great ecosystem for your photographic needs.

After doing a lot of research and going through a lot of anxiety trying to figure out which camera should I buy, I finally decided to pull the trigger and go all in with this camera system. The reason I chose the A7RIIIA is due to the 42.4 megapixel sensor, which allows me to get the best quality photo without needing to kill my hard drives. The low light capability to shoot at night and astrophotography is something that I wanted for what I wanted to shoot. The last reason, are all the lenses that are now available for the Sony system. I wanted to get into a system that had a good ecosystem of cameras and lenses if I wanted to switch back and forth. I understand Nikon, Canon, and Fujifilm are more popular, but after looking at their lenses I have found that they ... MoreAfter doing a lot of research and going through a lot of anxiety trying to figure out which camera should I buy, I finally decided to pull the trigger and go all in with this camera system. I wanted to get into a system that had a good ecosystem of cameras and lenses if I wanted to switch back and forth. I understand Nikon, Canon, and Fujifilm are more popular, but after looking at their lenses I have found that they are a lot more expensive that the Sony lenses. On top of that B&H Photo combined this camera with a bag, a 16-35mm f/2.8 lens (wonderful lens), extra battery, bag and memory card, for the cost of just the camera and lens and at the time of buying this kit was $600 dollars off the camera. I was torn between waiting on the A7IV or get a A7R series for $300 less than the A7IV. My mind was made up and got this camera and have never been more satisfied. The pics are sharp, the controls are tactile, and once you understand the camera, the controls become very intuitive.I know that I will not be trading in this camera body for a good while since the images comes out incredibly sharp and it just works the way you want it to. Unless you are shooting sports or wildlife, which I only do street photography/landscape/travel photography, then I would suggest to go for the A1. But for my needs and my humble opinion, the Sony A7RIIIA will be good for the beginner all the way up to pros. I have done a lot of research and a lot of pro videographers and photographers still use this camera for its capabilities even though it is a 5 year old system. But I think Sony has the mindset, If it isn't broken, then don't fix it, just update it. This is what this camera has become.
