The quality of this toaster is just fab compared to the usual 50 quid toaster . This one actually does what it says , the defrost button works and doesn’t make the bread soggy, the reheat button works and the toast is as good as new . And the temp buttons are easy to use and actually does what they say . And you can fit bagels in and thick bread with ease. Well worth the money in my view as we’ve got through 3 cheaper toasters in 12 months . And above all it looks great !

Having ordered a Dualit toaster which arrived defective, I was really downhearted as Dualit to me was the Rolls Royce of toastersMy wife orders the Smeg roster to replace it and it is truly excellent.Easy to use with easy controls, toast is done as it should be!Quality is equal to the Dualit and as yet I've experienced no issuesBtw John Lewis were EXCELLENT to deal with; when the Dualit proved to be faulty I couldnt have hoped for better customer service to return it and then replace it with the Smeg

Had a new kitchen and decided to splash out on a smeg toaster. The first one went back because the pop out crumb tray mechanism didn't work. Overall the quality isn't what I'd expect for something with this price tag. Many of the component parts are plastic, not metal. The bread is not uniformly toasted: one side always less cooked than the other. There is a very annoying lip around the toasting slots which catches all the crumbs and requires a small brush to remove them. So in terms of design and function I am disappointed in smeg. I wouldn't buy this brand again.

I had this in the chrome option. It looks so smart! Excellent toaster with all the settings etc you would need to do the toast just as you like it. I have the matching kettle as well which makes a great looking pair in the kitchen. It delivers on style and function. Very pleased.
OK, so it is smart, from a distance. The round control knobs feel lightweight and flimsey which is surprising on a fairly expensive item. Toasting is fairly even but varies from one side to the other on the same slice eg one side toasted as wanted, the other side overdone. It toasts fairly quickly and the slots are nice and wide. Overall its about as good as a basic four slot toaster but nicer looking.

This is room temperature average width sliced bread - one side a nice shade of brown, the other - slightly warm. Closer inspection shows the heating elements "stitched" randomly in each section, some flat, some curved closer to the toast, so there is no wonder there is no even performance. It is also massive, what have they put inside it to make it need to be so chunky? I'm feeling a fool for spending a disgusting amount of money on a toaster that never fails to annoy and disappoint in equal measure every time I use it. Very expensive toaster, but the weight and quality feels very good. Love how it looks too. Does its job very well with a very even coloured toast on both sides. Only had for a month, but hope the quality pays off in the long run.
We are really pleased with our purchase from John Lewis, bought online and collected the following day, great service.The toaster looks great in our kitchen very stylish and excellent quality.It also toasts beautifully and has a bagel button which enables you to toast one side, or any other choice of bread without toasting both sides.Would certainly recommend it.
Excellent stylish toaster that makes lovely toast with multiple settings for your preference. Looks the part too. A very large toaster in comparison to the matching kettle but if placed correctly not too noticeable for size difference. Well worth getting the 4 slice for a family.
