Smeg 2-Slice Toaster Pink

I needed a toaster and it had to be chrome. I bought SMEG mainly for the style but it really is a great toaster. I'm also impressed with Maison Lipari. They had the best price I could find online, including in the U.S. and it arrived quickly and very well packed. I would definitely order from them again. I always prefer to support Canadian retailers.

A three dressed up as a nine

I wanted to love this toaster, but couldn't. I was initially impressed when I pulled the toaster out of the box. It looks great and the controls seemed nice. However, it's toasting abilities are on par with the least expensive toasters -- not what I expect from a toaster that costs 10x those! The toasting was very uneven. Look at the attached photo and you'll see why. The elements themselves are quite uneven. However, the worst is when toasting a single slice. Like many toasters, the heat from the empty side comes right through to the other side, so you end up with one side of the toast much darker than the other. Again, I expected more from a toaster in this price range.Lastly, the toaster's popping mechanism is overzealous, sometimes ejecting the bread right ... MoreI wanted to love this toaster, but couldn't. Beautiful addition to my kitchen

Great toaster! Has defrost and bagel settings. It’s a little quirky- it has a powerful pop-up once it’s finished toasting and is capable of launching lighter items, but I don’t mind it. It does a good job at toasting evenly. It’s a beautiful addition to my kitchen and I love it.

Beautiful but doesn't work well.

I just love the red color and leave the toaster on the counter all of the time now. I used to hide the old one away. However, the toasting is not good. It only toasts one side of the bread. It's disappointing that everything that comes from another country is so inferior. So sad because it's beautiful.

Best Toaster, thumbs up!

I’ve read all the other toaster reviews and researched for months prior to purchasing my SMEG. And I have to say it not only looks design-fantastic, unlike several other viewer’s comments I found that it toasts both Rustic, Sourdough, Ezekiel Sesame & GF breads perfectly! Ha! Also had frozen a few Pancakes from my own recipe, popped it in my SMEG and was totally surprised that it worked for a super quick breakfast & snack. No problems with it whatsoever! Crate&Barrel communicated well & It arrived on time—was packed securely. So happy I bought via CrateB & highly recommend!

It's a disaster!

I purchased this toaster in blue several months before moving into my new home. By the time I moved and used it I immediately realized it only toasted one side of the bread. It does offer this feature for bagels but it is the only way the toaster toasts! Upon looking at reviews at this point I read this was a common complaint. As I was past Bloomingdales return policy I worked with SMEG and went through an absurd process to receive a new toaster. I am now the owner of TWO blue SMEG toasters that only toast one side of the bread. Bottom line is it's a beautiful looking piece of junk!

Looks Good In Photos

I love the style of SMEG and their toaster was on my wish list for a long time. When my old toaster broke, I was excited to purchase this. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations and I will be returning it. Many of the "chrome" parts are plastic with a finish that looks similar to chrome. It is obvious that the bottom, dial, plunger and top are made of different materials with different looking chrome finishes and only believe one part to be made of a chrome covered metal. The cord is non-retractable and it and the plug are eyesores. This is an expensive toaster, but the quality is similar to the $20 dollar toaster I am replacing. I rate this 4 stars for style and 1 star for quality. Luckily, Nordstom has a wonderful return policy.

Retro aesthetic >>>

Love the design of this toaster, I'm so glad I decided to splurge and get this one instead a generic stainless steel toaster. And it toasts very well! The only thing I'm disappointed about is there was a Prop 65 warning on the toaster box. There was not a warning on C&B website, nor can I find any details on Smeg's website about what chemicals are in this that warrant a Prop 65 warning.

The Perfect Color - great toast too!

I purchased the Smeg 2 slice toaster after trying the style's 4-slice version. That was way too large for our space and the 2-slice version fit better and looked great! The "pastel green" color is very much a true mint green and fits beautifully with our new kitchen. While the color and brand was what brought us to buy this toaster, after quite a few breakfasts, I can say it makes great toast! Well worth it!

great quality but copper color varies from picture

I wanted to love this, I’ve been looking at it for a while as we love copper kitchen appliances. Unfortunately, the copper color varies from all of our other appliances. I am surprised because I haven’t had this issue with other kitchen brands (kitchenaid, antique copper accessories, or our pictured aarke). Going to check if this was just a manufacturing variance or if this smeg colors truly are different.
