A toaster can really only be so fancy. I got this mostly for its looks, to be honest but I use the bagel mode to toast just one side often. Very sturdy with good build quality. I’ve never used the frozen mode since I never really freeze bread or anything I put in there. Retoast mode could be useful but I haven’t used it yet. The hidden crumb tray is nice and having the led illuminated ring and stop button are nice touches. This is what basic done really well is like

A toaster is a toaster is a toaster they say? These words cannot be true. I had not idea how perfect my toast could be until receiving and using this beauty. Not only is it straight up the sexiest toaster out there, it literally makes perfect toast. So perfect, I nibble it slowly to savor the joy. My ragin' raisin toast comes out scrumptious on a 2.5 setting. I would highly recommend this toaster for anyone looking to upgrade their toasting game.

Best Toaster, thumbs up!

I’ve read all the other toaster reviews and researched for months prior to purchasing my SMEG. And I have to say it not only looks design-fantastic, unlike several other viewer’s comments I found that it toasts both Rustic, Sourdough, Ezekiel Sesame & GF breads perfectly! Ha! Also had frozen a few Pancakes from my own recipe, popped it in my SMEG and was totally surprised that it worked for a super quick breakfast & snack. No problems with it whatsoever! Crate&Barrel communicated well & It arrived on time—was packed securely. So happy I bought via CrateB & highly recommend!

Great Looking Toaster

We have a Smeg kettle and the wife for years has wanted a toaster to match. Had it for a few weeks and there is a bit of a learning curve. The same setting will toast loaf bread and fresh bread different darknesses. We've moved our dial down to 1 for right now, used to be 2 or 3 on the old toaster. It does seem to toast one side more so far and we have had a piece of toast jump out at us, but there haven't been any major problems.It is definitely more of a style thing, I'm not so convinced that it toasts that much better than something 1/4 its price. Wife is happy, my daily toast tastes good, so not much to complain about. Haven't had to use the bagel or defrost yet, been just under a month, so it might still be settling and adjusting.

Happy with toasting but not appearance now

Was a splurge to buy such an expensive toaster & was so excited to receive it. It toast better & more evenly than any toaster I have owned. Anything past toaster setting 2 is too dark/ burnt though.I ordered the matte black. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED that a HUGE rectangle shaped care for instruction sticker was applied to matte surface. Enclosing paper instructions in box would have been sufficient. I very carefully tried to peel sticker off & it left a rectangle of sticky residue. Sticker did NOT come off easily. After multiple attempts, I was able to remove most but not all of residue. It left a rectangle shape of where sticker was. Placing a sticker on a matte surface was a horrible idea! VERY UNHAPPY with the appearance of my toaster now!!!!!!!!!!

Looks great. Broke in 16 mos. No repair option.

Smeg toasters look great. Too bad they aren't better toasters. Read the reviews good and bad. Like others, ours ejected toast onto the kitchen counter for a couple of months. Never toasted evenly.Now it broke after 16 months and Smeg offers no way to have it fixed. They have a 12 month warranty. Beyond that, if it breaks you have to buy another toaster. (BTW, Smeg offers a 2 year warranty in many other countries - just not in the US.)The middle section of the toaster (that divides the two slice areas) has broken and separated from the top of the toaster. It's leaning precariously towards the right slice of toast. Not only does this make it toast more unevenly, if it were to lean further it might set the toast on fire.Think long and hard about whether you want ... MoreSmeg toasters look great. Love this toaster but clear design flaws

We received this toaster as a wedding present in the Matte Black and it is stunning, people always mention it when they walk in our kitchen how beautiful it is. It toasts great, haven't had any of the issues people are facing. However, it has some clear design flaws that a $200+ toaster should not. The Matte color scratches sooo easily, we have tons of scratches and it hasn't moved since we set it up in the kitchen. The lever to push the toast down seems to be scratching it too. Also, most toasters will allow you to push the lever up after it's done toasting so you can reach smaller items and this one does not. Normally not an issue but you definitely have to be careful when pulling out smaller items like english muffins or mini bagels. Stopped working after a couple of months

This toaster is junk. I had issues with it after the first month and Williams Sonoma passed the buck to Smeg who did offer a replacement however the issue of the toasting one side seemed to disappear so I didn't end up following through. I traveled a lot last year and before going away, the lever stopped working and staying down. I cleaned the crumb tray and searched the internet for solutions but nothing worked. This toaster is faulty and doesn't last beyond a few months which is appalling considering the price tag.

The Perfect Color - great toast too!

I purchased the Smeg 2 slice toaster after trying the style's 4-slice version. That was way too large for our space and the 2-slice version fit better and looked great! The "pastel green" color is very much a true mint green and fits beautifully with our new kitchen. While the color and brand was what brought us to buy this toaster, after quite a few breakfasts, I can say it makes great toast! Well worth it!

great quality but copper color varies from picture

I wanted to love this, I’ve been looking at it for a while as we love copper kitchen appliances. Unfortunately, the copper color varies from all of our other appliances. I am surprised because I haven’t had this issue with other kitchen brands (kitchenaid, antique copper accessories, or our pictured aarke). Going to check if this was just a manufacturing variance or if this smeg colors truly are different.
