This drum mic bundle is great! The rim mount is durable and easy to use. The XLR cable is high quality and the mics themselves sound great. Everything you’d expect from Shure. I’d highly recommend!

I'm new to the drum recording game and still learning. I've used anything from an SM-57 pointed at my drums, to condenser mics in the room, to now having individual microphones on each of my drums. The price point and reputation of Shure made these an easy entry point into drum recording. I give them 5 stars because so far they do exactly what I want them to do. Maybe if I were to spend more money, I'd get different, even more "accurate" or "natural" sounds, but I'm glad to have the ability to mix individual drum tracks and bring out a fuller sound in my recordings. I've had them for a few months now and they are stationed on my drums permanently at home (at least until my band can play out again), which makes its really easy to just press record and jam. Amazing deal, great mic, fastest delivery of any company anywhere. The customer service folks helped me pick the perfect mic for my needs at the greatest price out there.
I use a pair of these with my conga / bongo rig. For my purposes, I have them on Gator quick-lease mounts on straight stands with one mic centered between the quinto, conga, and macho; and the other centered between the conga, tumba, and hembra. As these are microphonic and have a built in stand connector (which means they cannot be placed in a shock mount and will therefor pickup vibrations through the stands) they should be on separate stands and not attached directly to the drum stands. As for the specs, the PGA56 is identical to the SM58, but with slightly reduced dynamic range (-57 dBV/Pa vs -54.5dBV/P), which means that they are good for high impact sounds and do not grab as much peripheral audio as a 58. If I were in a studio setting I would go with something a bit more high-end but for live and demos, I am very happy with it.
Good solid mic and easy to mount.More time needed to be sure of sound but seems good
This is a terrific package, the microphone, stand & cable. The Mic looks great and sounds terrific. It is easy to setup. Highly recommend this combination
It's a great Mic. as usual from Shure. A great, lightweight mic. that's built like a tank. Perfectly suited to a bodhran.
Although I do not have a ton of experience with sound recording and equipment, I found this microphone to be very useful for a novice such as myself. I used it primarily on my tom drums with the grille very close to the head. The one complaint I have is that this mic does not seem very powerful when attempting to mic multiple drums or when placed far from the heads. The sound quality is consistent and slightly better than microphones in this price range. Overall, I would buy this mic again and it is great for an isolated drum. #sweepstakes
I use this product for a seated box cajon and it works great I love it.
