Cooks much better & more evenly than my last one which was a Smeg. Only downside is that you have to enter the run time quite quickly before it switches to asking you to press Start and that's a bit of challenge for the elderly like myself. Love the fixture at the base that holds the glass turntable so the turntable stays in place properly & can quickly be removed & replaced for cleaning. A really good microwave!

We bought this microwave to replace a much older (15+ years) Sharp microwave equivalent that had met it's demise due to accidental damage. This new microwave operates so similarly to the old one that I didn't even have to look at the instructions, it just slotted straight in and looks a little more snazzy than the old one with it's lovely stainless exterior. I'm hoping for just as long a life with this one.

Pros: Powerful. Like the cooling down period, saves burning the hands and fingers. Plus allows the microwave to finish the cooking/heatingCons: Can't seem to program in favourite times for small everyday substances.
Pros: Easy to use, programs are understandable.Cons: After cooking or heating there is a period of approx 30 seconds where it sounds like it is still cooking or heating which is annoying. My last (old) micro didn't do this.
Pros: Simple interface, quick meal reheat, sensor cook is a welcome addition to the features compared with the previous model. This is my 3rd Sharp microwave in a row so very happy with the brand.Cons: Cooling down fan a bit annoying but not a major issue
Purchased because I have over the years found Sharp Fridges and Microwaves to be well designed and reliable.This is a powerful unit so heating times are significantly less than a 800 to 1000W microwaves. Love the convenient, easy to locate Quick Start feature that gives 1 minute operation time with every press. So a 2 minute operation time takes 2 presses, while the main keypad would take 4 presses to do the same thing (3 for the time setting and 1 to Start).The only reason I have not given 5 stars is the new (to me) feature of running an extra minute of fan blowing into the oven after the heating phase has been completed. Even if you only heat for 30 seconds. Have had the R-395Y for nearly 2 months. Stainless steel facia only. Unit replaces an old Sharp R-480A that I have had for many years (and still works). Compared to the R-480A, the R-395Y has the following deficiencies; smaller turntable, no rice reheat, no stew fruit, control panel difficult to see (small text and poor contrast).Auto cook/reheat on the R-395Y gives more reliable results. Probably due to the inverter and improved software. Does the job but can't say I am overwhelmed.
This microwave is amazing I swear it is supercharged. It's the V8 of the microwave world. The butter melt function button is spot on when you enter the correct weight, the dinner plate reheat option is perfect.We love it! We are still learning all the functions but so far it's excellent.
I had to return the first one in the first week because the interior light did not work. I was very pleased with the great hassle-free customer service in getting it swapped for a new one (with a working light!). It is very efficient and the 1200w means food cooks even faster. Looks good too!
