I do hair for a living, and I saw this product and was honestly basing my decision to buy it because Shark is a company that I trust to manufacture great vacuums and I figured if Dyson can venture into the beauty hair industry and produce a great product besides what they are typically known for, Shark can probably produce a great product too. Here’s the thing, it’s not that I don’t think it’s a quality product. It is a beautiful blowdryer and it’s way more affordable then the Dyson dryer. I know that it was created in a way that they say will minimize heat damage dramatically, and that it comes with some tools to create other styles. I know that it was created in a way that they say will minimize heat damage dramatically, and that it comes with some tools to create other styles. So it is a versatile product, my first issue is that they only include 2-4 attachments they make for this dryer when you buy the dryer. I bought mine from Amazon in January and I could only buy the dryer with the diffuser and the concentrator piece. At the time I noticed they sold the same dryer with the other 2 pieces to straighten your hair and the other piece to create waves but it didn’t include the concentrator. It had just came out, I think J purchased in January and I just wish I could’ve purchased the dryer with all the add on tools but I could not find an option for that . When I received it initially I liked it, It was fairly quick drying, my initial thoughts were that I thought it would have had more power as far as the pressure of air coming out, the airflow was not as substantial as I would prefer and I feel as thought it didnt have the power that I had hoped, it did not seem to dry my clients hair any faster then my other dryers and it is a little heavier then I would prefer. I am aware that the dryer is supposed to significantly reduce heat exposure and damage but still dry hair frizz feee and smooth. I have to say, that when using it on dry, naturally wavy to curly (sometimes frizzy), coarse hair, It really did produce great results regarding the smoothness, and making hair shiny which is impressive because the dryer does not expel a ton of heat. I totally noticed significantly smoother, shinier and less frizzy result then I get from most dryers so I must admit I was pleasantly surprised and happy about that. I do feel like this dryer does limit heat exposure or protect from heat, but I ultimately didn’t notice an exponentially shorter drying time or force of power, which is what most professional hairdressers are looking for

Let me start off with this... I own a flat iron, 1 bottle of anti-breakage hair stuff, a brush and before this... a very basic ($40) blow dryer. So, no hair model here or hair guru, by any means. My usual hair routine is wash, condition, wide tooth comb, spray hair stuff, blow dry and minor top layer flat irioning, with a bit more in the back for some random wavy hairs. My hair is not thin, but not thick like it was when I was younger, and it's down to the top of my tush. Usually it takes about... 7 or so minutes to dry it (ends still damp). I bought this to see what all the hype was about. Well, by the 2nd blow dry... I had my answer. What really impressed me was the way my hair was AFTER it was dry. It was straighter (no attachments used, I couldn't even tell you how to use them... not a bad on Shark... I'm just basic), less frizzy, my ends were not wet or fried, and it was way less knotty compared to what my 'ok' blow dryer left me with (exact opposite). I love the angle of the blow dryer and the weight is perfect. I love that unlike my previos blow dryer, this one kicks out a wider and better dispersed amount of air... unlike the usual straight shot of super hair frying hot air. The power cord is thick, so it kind of throws you off a bit but let me tell you... it's the good kind of thick. That cord will NEVER bunch, ball, twist or knit up on you ... EVER. This makes me want to explore more Shark brand options, to bed honest. Go, splurge a little and buy this for yourself. Your hair will thank you!!

I never like to leave a negative review, but I feel compelled to do so in this situation. Before listing my reasons for the low rating, I’d like to list the positives about this Shark Hair Dryer. First, the amount of drying time has been cut in half without further damage that heat styling can cause. The temp settings adjust automatically to the desired temperature with whatever attachment you are using. The diffuser is by far my favorite part of this dryer. It hold larger sections and does a great job with curl definition. Now I will get down to the cons. This hair dryer weighs a ton. The hair waver doesn’t do much of anything. The materials and workmanship aren’t the best. As you can see in my pics posted, the diffuser is coming apart on one of the petal-shaped ... MoreI never like to leave a negative review, but I feel compelled to do so in this situation. The materials and workmanship aren’t the best. As you can see in my pics posted, the diffuser is coming apart on one of the petal-shaped areas. The hair dryer itself has the beginnings of a small crack on the handle. I purchased this dryer less than a year ago. I’ll admit, this dryer wasn’t my first choice, but it was a comparable option to want I wanted for a lot less. I do have a 5 year warranty on the product, but what good is it when you have to “cut the cord” on the defective dryer and wait until you receive the replacement when you have no other back up??? I have curly, coarse, frizzy hair that is very unruly and needs to styled before going to work. Customer support then said they can help with that. I could skip cutting the cord and they’ll just sell me another dryer for 70% off. I asked if I can just pay for the shipping to return the defective unit when I receive the “free” replacement. I was told that the reason I was being asked to cut the cord is so that no one else uses the dryer due to being a safety hazard. So, I can continue to use to defective dryer if I purchase another dryer at 70% off, but I have to “cut the cord” for it to be free? It’s only dangerous if I continue to use it after I receive the free replacement, but not so dangerous if I purchase another? I have purchased many Shark products in the past, but this dryer will be my last. I will continue to use this “dangerous” hair dryer and just save up for the dryer I originally wanted.
I bought this several weeks ago. This dryer feels the best in my hand. It is not plastic, and I never have to adjust the settings because the dryer does it automatically based on the attachment I use. It’s beautifully made with a heavy duty cord that has an attached tie so that it doesn’t have to be wrapped around dryer. Watch the videos that they recommend because their instructions help give best results. I bought the package with all attachments. I have naturally wavy/curly hair. Diffuser dried my thick med/long hair from damp not wet hair in 10 minutes. At the first place I went, a person complemented me on my hair. The waive attachment is the most difficult to learn for the back of my head, but it did give the hair on my sides a nice curly/waive; it looked as if I twisted my strands of air and let them air dry while I was at the beach, but it is an acquired skill. I love the brush attachment because it gets my hair smooth, and I can also get some lift at the roots; and I then touch up with a flat iron mainly because I am still learning how to master the brush attachment, but it gives a blowout look instead of straightened hair or flat ironed hair. The sound is pleasant and does not hurt my ears. I could not stomach paying for Dyson because I knew that when it went out I would not want to pay for it again. The quality of the Shark seems like it will last for many years to come. It is beautiful, and I cleared out a drawer to make a beautiful home for it in my bathroom.
This product is life changing! I bought it with a lot of skepticism. My hair is very fine textured but there is a lot of it, it is also naturally extremely straight, below my shoulder blades, with almost no body. With other hair dryers it would take ages to dry out completely and I would be left with a frizzy mess, flyaways all over, and no bounce. With this product my entire head of hair was 99% dry in less than 15 minutes. There were no flyaways. This is day 3 and my hair is still smooth! There is even a little bit of bounce to it. The only appliance and product I used was this hairdryer and a bit of hairspray on my bangs. I didn't even use dry shampoo on day 2! I will need some today. The only drawback is the weight of the dryer. I know that I will adjust to it ... MoreThis product is life changing! I bought it with a lot of skepticism. I ordered this item at a sale price online, and it arrived a few days later. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. If a customer orders an item at a sale price, and that item turns out to be defective, logic dictates that a prudent merchant should replace the defective item sold for one that works at the same price, without additional charge to the customer.I was eventually given a refund. I didn’t want a refund, I wanted a working hairdryer. I will keep this in mind the next time I have the opportunity to purchase an item from Best Buy or another retailer that might be more willing to replace defective products they sell for working ones.
I think this might be good if you're a stylist doing someone else's hair. I straighten my curly hair (just past my shoulders) and I've tried for 2 months to get used to this, but I find my old standard $30 blow dryer far more effective. Without any attachments, the wind blows all over the place with this wide, flat surface. With the horizontal attachment, I have to constantly twist the direction of it while I'm drying. You also have to dry small sections of hair at a time, and it takes forever. Drying the back of my hair is almost impossible, I find it still damp back there even after I've gone over it several times. The brush attachment is even more difficult and time consuming. I purchased this product with high hopes since I have purchased Shark vacuums in the past and have been pleased. This hair dryer was a nightmare from the first month of purchase. I have short hair and use a medium heat so the dryer never had a chance to overheat but it would continuously shut off sporadically. I would have to reset with GFI button....not fun when you are trying to get ready to leave for work. It would happen continuously throughout blow dry session. When I reached out to customer service I was requested to video the product while using it with them on the line so they could "troubleshoot" the issue. It is not only awkward but inconvenient to try to do this and, in the short time I was on the call with them the situation did not occur. Why should I go through this inconvenience for their faulty product? Shame on me for not reading reviews for this product before purchasing because, clearly, others have had the same issue. I relied on my past experience with Shark products and that is on me. I just threw away $200 on a poorly designed product that has inherent flaws. I will accept fault for not reading before purchasing but I would like to prevent another consumer from making the same mistake. And Shark customer service? Don't even get me started! I have been in sales for years so am very aware of how customer problems should be resolved and the Shark method of dealing with customers is unprofessional at best. BUYER BEWARE!
