Sculpey Ultralight Polymer Clay 8oz - White

While I love this clay for being a great substitute for aluminum foil to bulk out armatures, it does become a little sticky during the conditioning phase. The pros of Ultralight are that it's very lightweight, difficult to tear but easy to cut and shape and bakes up to a velvet finish. It's easy to condition and is very, every sort. The cons are that if needing this to have a mechanical hold on jewelry findings without a shell made out of another type of polymer clay, it simply will not do it as the surface is rather porous. This has high tensile strength if the point of resistance is spread out (hard to tear), but if the point of resistance is at a single place, this clay will likely shred. Nice but has some problems

I decided to try the Super Sculpey Ultralight to make some of my dragon figurines. The clay is light but very sticky. I'm not really happy with it, but if I add cornstarch, some Premo white, and some Super Sculpey light beige, I can make it work. But it is still sticky.

Soft, LIGHT, fragile

I love the softness and playability of the ultralight. I love how it looks, feels after being baked, and especially the extreme lightness of its weight. The downside for me is the durability. I drill bead holes and the materials chips away easily. Even if I just scratch it with my fingernail. It also indents and stains easily. I will alter my process to put the hole in before baking and see if that improves the end result. I sure hope it does because I love it so much otherwise.

Very light and spongy

First time using this type of clay and I am using it on an armature as a noted suggestion in the clay's description. It is very light but very spongy feeling and crumbled when putting it through the conditioning machine so apparently it doesn't need to be put through the machine. It serves it's purpose for me at this time but I would probably not use it for anything else. I would buy this again but only for the same purpose.

Very multipurpose

Very light and soft. Clay used by itself, the projects float. But it also strengthens weaker, cheaper clays. I often add some of the Ultra-Light to the original Sculpey to strengthen it's durability.

It’s a very soft clay, not great for holding sculpted details, But it’s great for sculpting after baked. After backing this clay is easily carved or whittled. I use it in my middle school class for making wooden looking marionettes. Perfect for what I need it for. I’m sure there’s other great uses.

[Rewarded Review] Light, Airy, And Great Texture!

I bought this product some time ago, and I have to say it has been one of my best purchases on the Sculpey site. It has a smooth texture, making it extremely malleable for sculpting projects. It's physically lighter than typical sculpey clay, giving your creation buoyancy in water. I also love mixing it with regular polymer clay to lighten it up and make it look smoother. I highly recommend this product to any fellow sculptor, beginner or expert!

Carves and sands well enough after being baked, so if you're fine with making a rough shape and doing fine detail work afterwards, this may be a viable product. Otherwise, I'd recommend steering clear of this product.I was planning to make a tissue box holder in the shape of a cat with this item and thought the lightweight properties would be good for cutting down on the weight of the finished product, but this clay was such a pain to work with that I gave up on the project. If you're planning to make something large and hollow with this, be prepared to make a lot of supports for the unbaked clay, as it will stretch and droop if you let it hang anywhere.When my original project failed, I tried making small figurines with it so my purchase wouldn't go to waste - making a figurine with this product takes A LOT of patience, as the clay gets too soft to really hold its shape, and it really likes to stick to your fingers. Also very difficult to join pieces together and hide the seam between the joined pieces. Your hands will also feel very gummy after using this product. A bit of scrubbing with soap and water will get rid of this film, though.

I buy this every year to make imprints of my kids hands to show how much they've grown. It's light and feels like marshmallow as you squish it around. It's also very forgiving. If you mess up it's super easy to redo.It does stick to the pan while baking if you make it flat enough so I would suggest adding aluminum foil under it while it bakes so you can just peel it off without worrying about it breaking while trying to get it unstuck.

In love with the marshmallowy texture of the clay! I love the colors of premo and the texture of souffle, so combining a little of this with my colors gives me the best of both worlds! Amazingly it doesnt impact the color in the same way as white clay would. Such a terrific product!
