I just bought a new home and picked this up to replace the front door deadbolt. I had two reasons: 1. I didn’t want anyone who had a key to the old lock to still have access. And 2. My wife and I would be moving back and forth from the old house, deal with deliveries and installers, and didn’t want to have to worry about a key. A smart lock was the way to go, and we needed one that would work with both HomeKit and Google Home. This fit the bill on both counts. It works perfectly, simple install, I can open it with my watch. Schlage made a winner.

I got this lock since it has HomeKey support. It was an easy install and installed this with a new door handle on my door at the same time. It was easy to match the look and color with my handle. The install was fairly straightforward with good instructions. After install it was super easy to add it to HomeKit and it worked like a charm right away. No difficulty at all in setting it up. Also, all the members of my family immediately had the HomeKey in their wallet. It works great both for my iPhone and Apple Watch. My whole family loves this thing and it works exactly how it is advertised. Some people complain about how close you have to get, and you do have to get your phone or watch almost touching it. However, I don't really see why that is a problem. I love this ... MoreI got this lock since it has HomeKey support. Not sure how long the batteries last yet, but we use it several times a day and so far after a month it is at 95% battery use.

Installed this lock in Apr 2022. Works nice. I use it for the homekit/homekey features. Liked being able to set a passcode for guests. Battery life was acceptable for four AA batteries. Overall positive experience. Then we had a hard Indiana freeze with -36 windchill in December 2022, and the space between my doors frosted up with a thick layer of frost. After the frost melted, my lock keypad became unresponsive. Then the HomeKit functions stopped. I didn't disassemble down to the board, but can only assume that the circuitry is uncoated and susceptible to moisture and corrosion. Could just be a fluke.Support seems to be understaffed, as it takes 1.5 weeks to get each response email. And the wait for a replacement is currently 3-6 months. So my Wyze lock is back on the door for now. Glad I kept it! To be fair, they did say they would reimburse me if I could find a replacement of this model from a retailer, but it is out of stock everywhere currently. Now it's a waiting game, either for a replacement Encode Plus, or for a better offering from another manufacturer.

Installed two of these several months ago. Work great with Apple Home - so very good security. You can see the lock/unlock status from anywhere and remotely lock/unlock. Use your iPhone as a tap-key to open, ask Siri to unlock the door when you arrive home, assign unique number passwords to yourself and people you want to give access to, and many more capabilities we haven’t used yet. Hasn’t once disconnected from home Wi-Fi network or failed to work perfectly. Great peace of mind and no need to carry a physical key!
Besides being relatively easy to install this device, it really does what needs to be done; provide history information, safe, secure, assurance that a door has been bolted, and in living color when accessing info. Schlage does a really good job with this dead bolt. I have Sense locks I’m considering changing out to Encode Plus as the need for an adapter is real. Encode Plus is rated tops with insurance companies as well. So there’s some savings by using them. Good stuff from Schlage!
I've been waiting for a product like this for a long time. Setup could have been easier, I highly recommend watching YouTube installs. However, once this is set up on your phone and watch, it is a seamless experience. It supports "Apple Home Key", so if you have Apple Wallet set up, it creates a virtual "key" in the wallet. You can then use your phone or watch to open and close the deadbolt. It is quiet and fast. There are also multiple ways to open and close the lock, so no worries there. It has a companion app, plus you can control features in the Apple HomeKit app. I highly recommend this product if these features are important to you. Just a note: if you want to use your Apple Watch to open the lock, the watch must be passcode protected.
I've been waiting like two years for this, and I am not disappointed with the two units that I purchased.I'm living in a relatively new construction, and the doors are bad; they get stuck and the deadbolt sometimes is difficult to close. So I was worried how well the Schlage Encode Plus would handle my bad doors. But luckily the Schlage Encode Plus works better than the deadbolts that came with the house. The front door now closes and latches without problem, and the deadbolt never snags. And the back door is still the same problem as before but works (i.e., you have to pull it really hard closed), but once it's pulled into the fully closed position, the Schlage does not have a problem with the deadbolt. Unlike my old deadbolts, which were straight lines of metal, the Schlage deadbolt is tapered at the end, which eases entry for improperly perfect door jams like mine. Our tech: Two "Residents" in Apple Home with a total of four iPhones and three Apple Watches, two HomePod Mini's, one OG HomePod, latest version Apple TV 4K. Notifications to all devices if you want (including Apple TV) about doors being locked and unlocked. Seamless opening of doors with Apple Watch or iPhone (you just hold it near the lock and it locks or unlocks - the phone does not need to be unlocked so long as you have Quick Entry enabled). Siri can lock and unlock (a couple seconds delay), and Siri can answer questions about whether doors are locked or unlocked (e.g., "All the doors are locked.")Guest codes come through as unique notifications. "[Guest name] unlocked Front Door." However, unless you list the guest as a Resident, the only way the resident can unlock the door is via the guest code you assign them or the physical key; they can't use their Apple Watch or iPhone to get in magically like the Residents can.Cons:- Keypad is dark, so when you go to activate it, you accidentally hit a digit (unless you start with the house icon). But it's obvious when you mess up, so then you just enter the code again and the door unlocks. The keypad lights up once you start, so you make the error once and then fix it the second time. If you get used to tapping the house icon first, then there is no problem.- No haptic feedback for key presses. (There is a blinking light after each key entry, which is sufficient.)I plan to buy another one for a third door.
Just a few months ago, I took the plunge and upgraded from my existing lock to the next-gen Encode Plus. As someone who uses an Apple Watch regularly, I wanted a lock compatible with Apple's HomeKey technology, and this sophisticated device is exactly what I was after.Encode Plus has exceeded my expectations in so many ways. It flawlessly integrates with HomeKey, making daily living easier and more convenient than ever before. The setup was fast - no confusing procedures or hiccups along the way. Once established, using it is as simple as a tap of my Apple Watch.Adding further to its charm is the remarkably silent motor in this model – no more disruptive whirring sounds when you're trying to sneak out for that early morning jog or coming back late at night! The peace and quiet offered by this feature add a subtly luxurious touch to my home. What sets Encode Plus apart though are its additional HomeKit triggers. These come in exceptionally handy when you have roommates or guests over – no need for everyone to have keys anymore! You can simply unlock your door from anywhere with your smart device. But these triggers go beyond just unlocking doors; they open up a world of possibilities for automation within your home such as triggering lights or initiating other home automations based on your preferences.Happy doesn't even cover how much I appreciate this gadget - it has proven itself invaluable time after time that after installing one on my front door, I went ahead and got two more! Now every outside door at my home sports an Encode Plus lock.In summary, not only does Encode Plus make life easier by offering streamline connectivity through various devices but also elevates one's lifestyle via its smooth performance and smart features - all while ensuring top-notch security for your home. This winning combination makes me absolutely recommend it if you're considering upgrading your current locking system. I'm confident that you, like me, will fall in love with the convenience and assurance that Encode Plus brings to your life.
We replaced a Schlage deadbolt with this smart lock so we could rekey it and keep the same physical keys. We got the Plus model so we could use our Apple Watch and iPhone to open it. And we couldn't be happier. It did take a few tries to understand where to tap, but the door is easily unlocked using our devices. We can even lock and unlock from our iPhone command center. The one drawback we read about was that the codes we give to others could only be on or off- no restricting by day or time. But that must have been a review of an older version of the app, because it seems easy to do in the Schlage app now.
I've had the lock for a few months now, and it has worked perfectly. I've never had any issues with it not working.Other than testing the physical key for the first time during installation, I've never had to use the physical key since my phone and watch have always unlocked it without issue.Pros:- Great if your household uses iPhones.- Very convenient to unlock the door with my Apple Watch and iPhone, I don't have to fumble for my keys.- Easy to install and set up with HomeKit.- Remotely check or lock/unlock the door from anywhere.- Optional timed auto-lock.- Easy to create permanent or temporary guest access codes.Cons:- Setting up Home Key on our older iPhones (XS, XR) took a few tries- out of stockNote: The remote functions will be more responsive ... MoreI've had the lock for a few months now, and it has worked perfectly.
