A42 5G has good battery life

I love all my Samsung phones. Throughout the years, I have my fair share of Samsung phones: Galaxy S, Sii, S3, S4, S7, S8 edge, S9, Note 5, A32, A23, A42.. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised that the A42 outperformed my expectation. Being an A series, I thought this phone will not have advanced features and performance comparing to the S series. I was wrong. The battery life of the A42 was outstanding. I can be on the phone browsing my internet for 5 min and the battery gauge still show 100%. Besides having great battery life, the A42 is 5G capable and is running the latest Android 13 with all the enhanced features such as Modes and Routines, secured folder which I use to keep my work and sensitive information private and secured. Overall, I give the A42 an A+.

They later decided it did have water damage and that I have to pay for all repairs and that it will take another week to fix. The phone has never been wet or even been in a steamy room. It seems weird to me that it charged fine for several hours and then all of the sudden, prior water damage caused it to smoke. But I am just supposed to take there word for it and pay for whatever. Had charging issues on my S8 too and they flat out told me that since it was hardware, that it had to be damaged by me and that warranty wouldn't cover it. Pretty clear that samsung won't stand by their products and I am done gambling with phones. Samsung phones used to be superior but are no longer. Will be switching to apple.

I love my phone SO much!

I'm an entrepreneur, and so my day is filled with responding to messages and emails, as well as posting on social media. The quality and speed of my A42 makes being able to get my work done SO much easier, I have absolutely ZERO issues when it comes to completing assignments/projects in a timely manner.I'm also a part time photographer, so I utilize the A42's camera on a regular basis. Whenever I can't get to my Canon camera, my phone's camera is such a beautiful substitute. The colors are ON POINT, and that's very important. I can literally get paid for the pictures I take on my phone! I also love the amount of space on it because that's a very big thing for me.I'm also a songwriter, and I write and have written ALL of my songs on my phone. The amount of songs/instrumentals I'm able to store on my phone is commendable, and I appreciate the developers for keeping that in mind.I'm also a writer (I wear MANY hats) and sometimes it requires for me to do some research. Whenever I can't get to my computer, my A42 gives me the ability to get the information I need right away. That's something I can truly appreciate, and I love the convenience!Thank you, Samsung. You're doing very well fo yourselves and I will that everything you create from this point forward just continues to get better and better.

Not as good as I expected
5 December 2022

Bought this at a Verizon store when my old phone started failing and I decided to go 5G. Have been somewhat disappointed as I found out afterwards that this phone is not Ultra Wideband (UW) capable, and that capability is needed to really get the super 5G performance that everyone raves about. This phone is only marginally better than my 4G LTE phone in performance. Really disappointed that the salesperson never said anything about UW or the lack of it in this phone. Also, I found that I have to shut the phone off completely every few days or else functions and programs start failing to work. Never had this issue with previous phones. Phone is at best an average performer and definitely not worth what I paid for it.

Not happy at all

I'm usually annoyed when people complain about their phone, but now I'm the one complaining. This has been the worst phone I've had in 10 years. I've had it for about 9 months and the problems just continue. My hot spot has never worked, Bluetooth is hit or miss, it is all around glitchy, and the keyboard is a joke (I'm endlessly erasing and fixing words that it thinks I "meant" to say that make absolutely zero sense.) The camera is not great, the finger print sensor isn't worth using. The only thing I really like it the options to customize/personalize. I do like all the shortcuts and different setting you can change. The battery life is good as well, I still make it through the day without having to plug it in and if I forget to charge it I can make it the next ... MoreI'm usually annoyed when people complain about their phone, but now I'm the one complaining. The bad definitely outweighs thr good. When I reached out to Samsung they said they would replace it if I had a copy of my receipt, so I went back to the store I purchased it from and had them print me another receipt. When I contacted Samsung support after having the receipt they just told me to factory reset it instead. I was so aggravated. I also have issues not getting voice-mail people leave for me, and have heard other people with this same phone complain of the same problem. Wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone.

This phone was provided to me by my company and is honestly a hinderence to my productivity. I came from a 3.5 year old galaxy S10e, and this phone is a big step down. It's extremely slow compared to the 4 year old phone I left, and has less memory and computing power. It's laggy and even typing is a hassle, as it will double or triple press letters even with careful typing. Even just opening outlook is a 20 second process, then each email I open is another 10 seconds.I've already had to replace it once as the charging port quit working. I can't find any case that has a flap to protect the port unlike my old otterbox commuter for the S10e. Only the commuter lite S available which doest provide port protection.Don't even bother with this phone unless all you do ... MoreThis phone was provided to me by my company and is honestly a hinderence to my productivity. I use my phone mainly for TikTok, Snapchat, and a few games that I play off and on. All of these run fast and smoothly. Calls are clear, even over wifi calling or spotty signal.I love being able to track my steps and health with ease using the built in apps such as Samsung Health. The apps are user-friendly and well designed. The storage space on the phone is impressive. I have ADHD, so I often install games but lose interest in them pretty quickly. With this phone, I don't have to keep deleting those apps in case I want to play them later if I get the urge to. And thiswith the Files app, I can easily delete old files or apps that I no longer use with ease. Worst phone EVER!

I would like to start out saying every smart phone I have ever owned has been Samsung Galaxies. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to upgrade/change phones with the newest model. I use my phone until it completely wears out. I have loved every Galaxy - until now. This phone makes me want to return to smoke signals for communication.I bought this A42 less than one year ago. I replaced it through the warranty approximately 6 months later. The second phone is less than 6 months old, and not much better than the first. So 2 Galaxy A42's both in less than one year.1. This phone glitches so often and I have to restart.2. It lags and takes forever to search the web, Facebook, email, anything.3. This makes it difficult to pay bills, get customer service, have a decent conversation, etc.4. The wifi CONSTANTLY disconnects and reconnects - every few seconds. So making wifi calls is impossible.I have talked to so many customer service reps I've lost count. I've done a factory reset multiple times, doesn't help. Verizon is of no help in resolving the issue and only allows replacement with the same model. When I read the reviews on other Samsung phones, it seems the other models are having similar issues. Perhaps it's Samsung.I'm counting down the days that I can buy a new phone so I can smash this one into pieces. So very disappointed. I HATE MY PHONE.

On my old phone, if I needed the flashlight feature, all I needed to do was shake the phone from side to side to turn it on and off. This Samsung phone you'll need to drop everything you're carrying like groceries etc and get into the phone, pull the menu down and tap the flashlight icon to turn it on or off. Due to writing guidelines here, I can't say the name of my old phone, which BTW, the latest models available got poor ratings. I sure wish I had ignored the ratings and just got the newest version of my old phone. This one doesn't even compare.
