Samsung 2TB T9 Portable SSD
Designed for content creators, the compact Samsung 2TB T9 Portable SSD now delivers a sequential read speed of up to 2,000 MB/s, which is nearly double its predecessor, the T7. The sequential write speed is up to 1950 MB/s, while photographers will be happy to know that the sustained write speed is up to 1000 MB/s (after Turbowrite). The T9 now features a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 port, delivering up to 20 Gb/s of max throughput. When it comes to the design, the T9 has curved diagonal lines and reverse carbon patterns, which gives its rubber surface a more fabric-like feel and a soft touch. Add low idle power consumption and reliable durability, and the T9 is ready to join in the field.

I bought it because of the great reviews.I got the problems on the first usage.1. While transferring all my items (around 1TB) from my desktop, I couldn't transfer more than 30 percent. I tried to do it four times. At 30 percent, the process simply stops. The computer does not freeze, and the file transfer window shows no errors.2. During all four attempts, my PC worked very slowly; it was almost impossible to use the mouse.3. I just got the new Samsung T9 Portable 1TB SSD drive. The drive is unexpectedly small and quite attractive with a rubber-like covering. I’m very pleased that the drive comes with both USB-A and USB-C cords for attaching to most any type of device. The drive is connected via USB-C to my Mac Studio computer. The Mac OS instantly recognized the drive and allowed me to format it for my Mac (Mac OS Extended Journaled). I tested the speed with a disk speed test utility, which reported 829.8 MB/s (write) and 890.8 MB/s (read). The speed is approximately 11X faster than my other USB external drives.I am struggling with the included Samsung PSSD utility. First and foremost, huge thanks to #Samsung and #TheInsiders for their #SamsungPortableSSDInsiders campaign and an amazing deal for Samsung T9 SSD 1 TB. I use it mainly to carry my lossless music, few downloaded movies, some important files and software. This T9 SSD is pretty light-weight (only 4.3 oz) and slightly larger than a credit card. The SSD is made in Korea, and its data cables are made in China. Two cables are included: one is USB-C to USB-C and the other one is USB-A 3.0 to USB-C. Both cables are 0.5 meters long and sturdy. It comes pre-formatted with exFAT. Reportedly, this drive has 170 GB cache, which helps with extremely fast file transfer.Positives points:+ T9 SSD has aluminum case, and covered with non-slip rugged rubber exterior, which is ... For small files, sometimes the transfer window does not even appear on screenNegative points:- No IP65/IP67 rating- Dust and lint magnet- The faster rate only works with certain connections and cables- Only 932 GB usable disk space out of 1 TBDuring my tests, I was getting around 790 mbps transfer rate which is quite fast enough. To transfer a 16.0 GB folder (see pictures), which contains some FLAC music and large size pictures, using a Thunderbolt 3 cable connection, it took about 20 seconds. Overall, I'm extremely happy with Samsung T9 SSD. It is my new go-to drive to carry large and important files. I highly recommend it to everyone.
When I first received this SSD, I was immediately impressed with how nice it felt. I appreciated the textured silicone outer case. The texture and grooves provide a nice grip while also providing some protection to the device. The device is compact and portable, easily held in the hand and can fit into your pocket/bags and feels light. Though lightweight, the construction and metal of the SSD feels sturdy and well designed (ports are not flimsy, nothing rattling around, etc). Now, onto the performance of the T9 SSD. The data transfer rate is fast, and does great for what I use it for (e.g., transferring big media files like movies in and out of it). I like the extra security features like the option to password protect your files. I also appreciated how both USB-C ... As a tech enthusiast, I appreciate being chosen to try new products and it was an honor to try the Samsung T9 SSD campaign. I love the exceptional speed and the compatibility it has with many of my products across different brands. I am adamantly creating documents, transferring creative files, videos and photos from all of my devices that range from a few megabytes to hundreds and even gigabytes camera and I did not have to wait several lifetimes to transfer them or did I ever receive any error messages. Its compact design and quality was top tier. It easily fit in my pocket, purse, laptop bag, etc. I liked that it had a sleek metallic/matte look with a gripping texture. Hopefully it comes in more colors to match my array of femininely colored products, but I’ll take this design as well lol. I’ve noticed that in comparison to my usb drive connector that transferring several files can cause it to overheat in comparison to the Samsung T9 SSD device, I did not notice any overheating or delay. As I mentioned before, it is extremely fast and reliable compared to standard external devices that often lose connectivity mid transfer or download. With many download or transfer speeds reaching only about 15-20mb/s even in the best WiFi, I was able to achieve a consistent speed of over ~1,000 mb/s despite my location and write speeds was approximately the same in mb/s or a few hundred shy, but not noticeable. Because I am a content creator and designer, this is an ideal product for me and those alike. I also enjoyed the ability to have any and all files and the entire device protected by security measures that included password protection and encryption. I am always skeptical of any information vulnerabilities so features like this are always welcomed.I would definitely recommend this device to tech enthusiasts or anyone that needs the space and speed to get those creative jobs done or simply to organize their life. It has room for everyone of with different interests.

I found the T9, to get about 15% faster on the write speed and about 25%. That to me is a significant improvement over the previous generation.Additionally, one of the other things you will notice about this drive is the weight of the drive. T9 SSD comes in around 4.3 ounces, which is the highest among all Samsung’s SSD lines. However, I enjoy the weight of the T9 SSD. It provides the correct balance to the T9 SSD.In conclusion, the design, features, speed, performance, and weight of the Samsung T9 SSD make this SSD one of the best that I have tested. I would recommend this SSD to anyone. If you can pick one up at a great price, you will not be disappointed in its performance. Ensure you have a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 cable when using the T9 and a compatible host to peak performance.
What can I say about the T9? SSD from Samsung. Samsung electronics have effectively replaced Sony electronics technology I need. They may not have anything close to the customer service. Its product is durable liability has been proven.Ohh, yes. Forgot to add the security front end that you can use on the Samsung is exceptional and easy to use You can lock up your device without overly complicated methods of understanding. I only wish they had a sensible backup solution to safeguard the os completely Like it's home-grown imaging or file recovery system But I am working on that
I needed an external drive for my iPhone 15 Pro max to record ProRes 4K60. All other modes of video on the iPhone record internally.I had a Samsung T7 2tb ssd drive and tried it first. It worked perfectly with no lag in the video. I tried a 6m (almost 10ft!) thunderbolt 4 cable and it still worked well with no problems. I found this 4tb ssd drive and bought it. Just plugged it in and again it perfectly worked even with a 6m thunderbolt 4 cable. This means I can keep the drive in my coat pocket or a backpack while plugged into the iPhone. The iPhone sees the drives so there is nothing to do to use it. You can view the drive in the files app on the phone. I tried copy/paste from the Photos app to move a few videos to the drive. It was quick. Useful for moving large files to your computer. You can also move files from your computer to your iPhone. With the empty 4tb drive the iPhone says it can record 289 minutes of ProRes 4k60 video. Plenty of room. There was no noticeable battery drain on the iPhone either. I did test the cable it came with versus the thunderbolt 4 cable. There was only a slight difference in speed, not enough to require the thunderbolt 4 cable. A one minute video comes out to 13gb which is why an external drive is necessary to record 4k60 ProRes.Overall, I’m happy with the performance and ease of use.
